Diana Prince lives quietly among mortals in the vibrant, sleek 1980s -- an era of excess driven by the pursuit of having it all. I love the '80s kitch .
I felt that "They couldn't if they tried." Really added to the fact that she wished for this power out of the fear of always being someone's victim. It makes her more sympathetic in her downfall.
I’d say Kristin W is a “unique” choice for Cheetah. She is comedic by nature, yes. But it was interesting for her to play a much different role than what we are all used to. Versatility is a gift in itself and I feel she nailed it with this new challenge. Perhaps it’s not so much the acting, but the writing which soured it.
I knew nothing of her before seeing this movie as she said she is handling it “beautifully”
Comedians tend to be serious people in real life. Wiig is good in The Skeleton Twins.
It was absolutely the writing. She was given next to nothing to work with - a stereotypical awkward scientist at the start, and a paper-thin villain by the end, with almost zero character development in between. Wiig always had an element of darkness to her comedy, even on SNL - there's real depth and fire behind her eyes, in a way that's unusual for a comedic actress. I was excited to see her as a baddie when she was cast in WW1984, but the movie let her down. I hope she comes back for a better-written sequel, if one ever gets made.
This movie was extremely uneven, but the idea of Wonder Woman running around mid fight to catch and delicately cradle the head and neck of the random other humans before their brains smack into the wall is a cool element.

This movie had way too much potential and I’ll never get over it
Barbara wished to be beautiful and strong like Diana, and it also gave her superpowers but at the cost of her most valuable possession which was her humanity and empathy.
And her transformation into cheetah symbolized the further loss of her humanity.
But why a cheetah tho? Like...this movie doesn't make any sense 💀

@@holychaos5398 It would have had you watched the movie carefully. Barbara's second wish was to be an 'Apex Predator'! She never said that she wanted to be a Cheetah. The cost she paid for her wish was that she actually transformed into a beast! Barbara had always been overlooked by everyone. She wanted to be popular and to be noticed which she got when she wished to be like WW! But her greed to be on the top made her make this unfortunate second wish and we all know what happened thereafter!
I really had a good time with this movie.
I only wish they had just gone another route with Steve's return. It fell into the "too many things happening" sequel trap but was still a lot of fun.

I can’t believe Barbara betrayed Wonder Woman! She was her friend, she stuck up for her, cared about her and supported her even before she made her wish, she foolishly chose her vanity over friendship, putting innocent people in danger to process some idiot thinking he’s making the world a better place when he wasn’t, she threw away everything Wonder Woman gave to her and twisted it into something ugly and wrong!
Normal Barbara would never betray Diana, I think the stone had a negative effect on her, it brought out her most evil, selfish side, she lost her kindness.
Gaining her power and beauty from her wish means losing her humanity and everything that made her a good person. Every wish comes with a cost.
Wonder woman was kind of a bad friend. If she had been there for Barbara more instead of focusing on her own issues maybe Barbara would've turned out better.
@@metoo3342 Thats insane. Diana treated Barbara nicely, even saved her life, theres only so much you can do for a friend, not to mention shes dealing with a global catastrophe. It was Barbara's choice to wish on the stone because she wasnt satisfied with her life.

Everyone remember not a single person died within the entire runtime of this movie out of all the chaos not even an accidental one. This is coming from a character that was killing people left and right before and after the events of this film
Well yeah, except for those 2 guys that were blasted by Wonder Woman’s golden shockwave and fell into the water. That shockwave probably killed them, and if it just knocked them out, they likely drowned

This is a Terminator Salvation or Catwoman situation where what the director has made is not "bad" wholesale, but because it is attached to a known IP audience members familiar with the IP walk away with question marks or aggressively squiggly lines over their head.

I forgot. Diana gets weakened for some reason. Think I gotta watch this again. Love the 80's references in the movie. Crinkled fries with ketchup. Sloppy mall burger. Girls that can't run, shoplifting. Those are things of the past, and maybe should make a come back. A highly under appreciated movie. People, who say it sucked, are not very 'literate' about any work of fiction that takes on the possibility of a wish that comes true. It's a curse to even THINK of taking it on, professionally. I don't know if they're thinking Patty Jenkins for WWoman 3, after WW 1984. She just needs to take on something less demanding, and more into emotion, like war. I don't know who OK'ed the story. That's the person to blame for this movie being ill-received. You know? Most demanding story line, ever conceived. Wow. Great idea. Can't miss. :(

No offense, but that feels like a reductionist reading of why the movie was poorly received. The writing was crap. Too many ideas, not enough focus, and not nearly enough character development. And yes, those things matter, even in a popcorn movie. WW1984 is a series of set pieces featuring characters that might as well be robots, for all that they resemble human beings. Look at Batman Returns for a script that juggles multiple distinct characters and gives them all ample screen time and plausible motivations (within the superhero movie framework), as just one example. Jenkins is an undoubtedly talented writer/director, but she shat the bed with this one, and no amount of retconning will erase the stain.

She lost herself. She wanted it be like this. Diana tried to make her understand that all she was doing was wrong, but she didn't care. She wanted more, like all the humans. Alway wishing for more.

In my opinion, this wasn’t the best way to go about the Wonder Woman sequel. Yet, at the same time, to me, it makes sense. Don’t know how it makes sense to me, it just does. Not a clear answer, but that’s what’s coming up. :)

Wich didn't make sense since in the first movie Hypolita wouldn't allow Diana to train in fear Ares would find her if she displayed too much power, and got mad at her for it when she caught her doing it as a teenager, hence why she went behind her back but in that scene that takes place when Diana is a little kid she allows her to do all that?

This movie was bad. I mean BAD. But I'd still rather watch this than Captain Marvel. I mean what happened? The first WW movie was so good. When are these studios going to realize that it's the VILLAIN that really makes a superhero movie good. Having Cheetah was a good idea. But Pedro Pascal's character? Worst villain ever. What a waste of such good acting talent all around. The director and writer clearly did not know, understand or love these characters. STOP giving these directing and writing jobs to people with bs agendas and start giving them to people that actually love comic books.
