      1st) You do not need to add that much sound deadener to the cabin area (driver & pass) roof. 2nd) How are you going to insulate those "fake" plastic windows?

    Just watched this whole thing. I love your videos, man! Some of your tips have really helped me in restoring my 2000 Safari. Some people ask why we put so much time and effort into these vans.. if you're like me, it's because we love them. They're unique, the parts are cheap, and I just love my van. Every project is a learning experience, and its something I can be proud of. Keep it up, my man! Congrats on your wedding, too. 🤙

      I think it is possible with a compost toilet, battery system and some sort of AC. Thats my preferences. It is a pretty tight space but doable. Sure as hell beats being homeless

    • @ImChrisDeDecker
      @ImChrisDeDecker  Před 11 měsíci

      I don’t think it is terrible as long you are willing to put in the work incase things break. With any older/high mileage vehicles, things break and need to be repaired.

    • @caelgrayheavens1234
      @caelgrayheavens1234 Před 11 měsíci

      But for someone who is not automatically inclined😁 like me. should I look for something with a little less mileage,but still is in that price range?

    I Got To Say, @ The Start Of This Video, That Van Was The Worst Looking Heap Astro I have Seen, The Oil That Drained Out Showed How Well The Previous Owner Took Care Of It Or Didn't.
    As The Floor Was Rusted I Figured The Under Carriage Would Be Toast But Wow No Real Rust, I Was Amazed Being I have Owned 5 Of These In The Salt Belt Of Boston!
    All The Work You Did Made Me Tired Just Watching You Do It!
    I Have Never Had The Desire To Go Camping! Dear Ticks and Lime Disease With Trailer Park Drunks and Mosquitos Etc.
    The Smartest Thing You Did Was The Hatch Over The Gas Tank Because Of All The Astros I have Owned I took The Tank Out 3 or 4 times For Rotted Lines and Fuel Pumps but never Cut The Hatch Thinking I wouldn't Have to Do It Again But Most Of them Going 500K+ The Engines Last Forever and Use Zero Oil!
    4 Years Ago I Bought a 1995 LT AWD with 37K Original Miles in MINT Condition, Climate Controlled Garaged Sense New, Other Than Flat Spots In The Tires And The AC Leaked From the Compressor, It Looks Like Something From the 1995 Sales Catalog. I Only Paid $5,600
    At Your Age You Will Look Back And Say "What Was I Thinking?" At 60 I Look Back at the Work I was Willing To Do To Transform Cars And What I learned Is That When It's ALMOST finished and thousands spent with countless hours Something Like The Engine Or Transmission Goes And With ME it's Rust, Never Anything Else!
    I Sold a 1998 That I Pimped Out With Top Of The Line Stereo System And It Looked Beautiful (Green Metallic All Original Paint) But Underneath It Looked Like It Came Out Of The Ocean And The Body Cladding Covered Up The Rocker Panel Rot, Guy Bought It And Did The Same Thing You Did And Built A Camper Inside and 2 years later It was Up For Sale On Craigslist For 3,000 What He Bought it Off Me For With a Few State Stickers Of Where He Went With It and a List Of All The Money He Spent To Make It Something It Wasn't!
    The One Awesome Thing Only an Astro Can Do Above Any Other Is: My Dog Gets In The Slider Door With The Middle Seat Out and Has a Living Room, He Is 110 lbs., German Shepherd and Getting Old But He Gets In that Van No Problem. I have a 2014 Forester XT But The Astro Is The Scooby Doo Machine, It's No Mystery Machine Other Than Questioning What's Going To Fail Next Being The Exhaust Just Fell Out, Garaged, No Rust Anywhere! They Rust From Inside From Condensation So Full Stainless And I Undercoated This Van With 18 Large Cans Of Rhino!
    One Guy From Canada Posted an Astro Van Video That is Truly Correct and the Reality Of Owning a 25 Year Old One And From His Words, It's Always Something!
    With These Vans: if It Came From Arizona All The Rubber Bushings Are Dry Rotted! Engine Mounts, Shocks, Sway Bar Links, Etc Etc and In New England The Undercarriage Is Rotted But The Rubber Is Good.
    I Got One That Lived in a 65 degree Garage for 30 Years! Now Today If You Buy a Van It Costs 60K And Will Be Engineered To Rust And Fail Just Like The Astro With Payments Of $400 a Month But With Cameras and LED Lights, Look Under a Brand New Black Addition Honda Passport 50 Thousand! Looks Good But All Raw Steel! If Black Addition Was Undercoating I would Be Impressed!
    The Japanese Cars Have Extruded Sleeves Over All The Lines and Somewhat Undercoated But American Cars Are Junk! I Would Rather Stainless Break Lines Over Lets Say Cabin Filters and Bose Stereo Because Stopping Is a Great Feature!! The Astro Rear Break Line Rusts Over The Gas Tank from Condensation Parked Anywhere and You Can't Undercoat It Without taking The Gas Tank Out ! Vehicles Are The Worst Investment You Can Make and Never Buy a Sports Car!
