- It was only ever supposed to be a three-hour tour, but the crew of the SS Minnow got a little bit more than they bargained for when a sudden storm threw their trajectory wildly off course marooning them on a deserted tropical island.

Ginger, Mary Ann, Skipper, Professor, The Howells, and Gilligan would be stuck on the island for presumably the rest of their days and although they would see s surprising amount of visitors to their island home they would never see rescue.
But where was the Island exactly anyway? Does the show give us any clues at all? It's true that much of the show was filmed on a soundstage in Hollywood and the on-location shows were filmed in various locations in Hawaii and California, but where on Earth is the REAL Gilligan's Island?
Facts Verse is going to do a little bit of sleuth-like detective work to get to the bottom of the matter. You will be shocked and surprised to find out where the real island is. It turns out, that the professor slipped up and gave us all the clues we need to find the notorious place that those unfortunate souls washed up. So come along on a little journey. We promise it won't be a three-hour tour.

Mary Ann or Ginger????
MaryAnn love that mid west farmer girl
No contest Marianne who wants a stuck-up Starlet
Gotta be Mrs. Howell! She's much older and richer which means not only would you inherit a fortune, you wouldn't have to wait long to get it!
Maryann, every time.
Ginger some of the time.
Yup, the math still works, Ginger is a third.
@@lawrencebrenn3345 excellent points I changed my answer LOL
There's no debate: Mary Ann.
You wrote exactly what I was going to write so I just piggybacked on your post with a thumbs-up. Ginger is not ugly (obviously,) but she is over the top. It's not her fault but her part. Even so, Maryann is still prettier. What makes her hotter is her the roll she played...innocent farm-girl awesomeness. I think Maryann always rated higher than Ginger, even back then, so if that is the case then the studio got it wrong to pay Ginger more. If that is true then it begs the question; did they pay Ginger more than Maryann because in the role she played she was richer? If that is the case that would just be dumb. Shout out to Maryann for helping me through puberty!😉
@@FearsomeR4Z3 After they fired the original actors they were considering Jane Mansfield or Bridgette Bardot for Ginger, of course they would've had to dye their her hair red or change her name. Wouldn't really work to have a blonde Ginger.
Lovey Howell
Ginger had better comic timing (in my opinion) and since the show is a comedy, I always preferred her. Just for laughs, mind you. So I guess... I found a way to debate it after all.
As I've aged, I've realized that Ginger's purely transactional outlook is so much more attractive.
When I was 10 years old I would have walked over Ginger to get to Mary Ann, now that I'm 58 I would do exactly the same.
Damn Skippy!!!!!
Me too. I am 56.
@@michaelfink64 Me too, and I am 56 as well.
That's cuz Ginger is a nasty redhead.
Same age, same comment.
Mary Ann was from Kansas, she was not a Southern Belle lol.
Maryann a Midwest farm girl are people confusing her with Daisy Duke?
Mary Ann of course! Even as a small child, way back when, I recognized her inner beauty!
Mary Ann with short shorts! The TV screen would just melt whenever she walked around in those!
Even as a kid I lusted for Mary Ann.
Mary Ann was the Daisy Duke of that show. It's sad she passed away on December 30, 2020 from Covid at age 82.
Definitely Mary Ann. She's a little hottie without even trying to be hot.
Heck yeah she was the Daisy Duke of that show.
Maryann of course!
Hands down the sexiest and more lovable of the two . 💗
Mary Anne was the best eye candy 😂 ever
Mary Ann was the best.

Loved Mary Ann the most, she was the cutest one of the two girls
Comparing Mary Ann with Ginger is like comparing BETTY BOOP with Jessica Rabbit.🤩🤩🤩❤❤❤
Mary Ann for sure more down to earth and like the girl next door
That's the problem tho. Ginger would be relationship free, so much better.
In the 1st season, we see the Minnow leaving the harbor as the theme song plays. If you look closely, the American flag is at half staff. It was shot right after Kennedy was assassinated and all flags were at half staff.

Mary Ann in those shorty shorts!
Mary Ann is more beautiful and sexiest of the 2 women.
she didn't even have to put much effort. she had the kind of beauty that didn't come from cosmetics
Mary Ann... way better life partner, and damn she was, and is still beautiful!
MARY ANN

Mary Ann was beautiful on the inside and the outside Where Ginger was ugly on the inside and that’s all pretty on the outside too much make up too much fake
Cuter than I dream of Jeanie?
@gym shoe
Being a professional model doesn't mean jack shit, dumbass. And the word professional just means you are regulary paid for something, it has no bating on experience or skill level, so All the actors on Gilligan's Island were professionals, yu dumb fuck.
@@MrParkerman6 I find it particularly interesting how "gym shoe" magically established that Mary Ann is for "guys with less confidence". The sheer arrogance of some people never fails to amuse me. It wasn't enough to simply state his personal preference. No, he takes it even further to cut people down if their preference dare not align with HIS . . . classic liberal mindset.
Aw mary ann had one hella body back then💯💯💯
It isn’t bad even today.
Saw her on an interview a couple of years ago and was amazed at how she has kept her always natural beauty!
@JOHNNY CASH she sure did.
Definitely Mary Ann, probably my first crush.

Remember that episode with that rock band the "mosquitoes"... in the mid-70s I saw them open up for the Archies
And on a side note... you ever notice that Jughead and Goober from The Andy Griffith Show had the same hat.
And Jed Clampett ended up going to night school when that show was over.. and became a private detective using the name Barnaby Jones
The honey bees
The Wellingtons played the Mosquitoes. They were also the actually band that played the theme, "The Ballad of Gilligan's Island" for the First Season .

Mary Ann, and those short shorts.
Yea. The shorts. Tied up at the waist shirt. And long dark hair with pigtails. We have a winner
Wow!
Mary Ann!!!!!!
Always Mary Anne. ❤️ thanks for the memories. Classic TV back then and Dawn Wells could capture anyone’s heart.
Dawn Wells RIP🙏
Mary Ann of course!!!
I'd like to get my hands on whatever batteries they had in that radio. They lasted forever!
Acme Racing The Professor would recharge them....or substitute seashells.
Many transistor radios were very efficient so they didn't drain batteries very fast.
@@vyratron839 ... if you are old enough to remember back that far, the newest thing on the market were mercury batteries, which lasted at least 10 times longer than normal batteries of the same size. They were popular for campers, boat people, and those who wanted an emergency radio for their bomb shelter. Of course they were expensive, but doing the math it was cheaper than buying 10 sets of replacements. These days anything with mercury as a consumer item is going away fast. (fluorescent bulbs and thermostats as an example)
Maryann who by the way was from the Midwest not the south. She was beautiful then and is still beautiful now.
@smoothcollected I'm from the midwest, and have lived in the south (MS.), and visited extensivley in the south (GA, TN, KY, LA). We bear no resemblance to southerners, culturally or otherwise. But I do like both geographic areas.
@smoothcollected Yes, interesting, that St. Louis & KC are only 250 (+/-) miles apart, but two very different cities. But both still considered midwest cities. Same with southern Ohio (Cincinnati) area, although Ohio Valley, not really midwest, nor south.
Mary Ann , back when I was watching the show as a kid I like Ginger, but after I hit 16 in 1979 and still today at 57 it’s MARY ANN.
Mary Ann by far
Ginger had the legs, Mary Ann had everything else.
Sweet Ginger!
Mary Ann the beautiful
Definitely Mary Ann
Born in 63. I loved this show. I might have been 8 years old watching re runs, but it was magic to me. Too young to even care about the girls. I was all about the lagoon. The beach huts. A deerted island. It stuck with me all my life. I have sailed my sailboat around the world looking for my own gilligans island. I found a few and plan to live there soon after shtf. But probobly solo.
Ginger! Now that's a tall, cool drink of water!
When I was a child my family was on vacation in California and we visited Universal Studios. There, we were shown where they filmed Gilligan's Island in this little tiny cove. We found it funny. This was the time they showed us how superman flew, the Star Trek models, jaws and some props from the movie, The Incredible Shrinking Woman.
@FaZePlague 9882 Just the cove/lagoon. I was a child at the time, from what I remember the area was the size of a large backyard. After watching this I didn't know they went to different locations to shoot. We seen the Leave it To Beaver house and street, Best Little Whorehouse in Texas starring Dolly Parton. I took my sister back in 2003 and it changed so much..
@@sherricarlson839 I have been in a few studios and sets. Many people of the (TV) viewer types would be amazed if they saw how small most sets actually are.
Are you sure it was Universal? Because it was shot at CBS Studio Center down the road.
@@GarretGrayCamera Yes, we spent the day at Universal Studios. I remember we had to get to the other side of this area of water, we were in a tram and the water opened up/parted so the tram could cross the other side. I was like 12 I think. I promise it was Universal Studios. Maybe then they were one company???
I toured the Universal studios where they filmed the show
Loved watching this show growing up :) . Need more tv shows like this wholesome and had a message.
I think the message was “Just laugh and enjoy and don’t look too deeply for any messages” 😂
Back when I was a tween it was Mary Ann, now that I'm old and grey it's still Mary Ann (sorry Ginger).
Mary Ann!!!
I always thought it was odd that they could build so many different things but somehow couldn't patch a hole in the boat? LOL
There was only palm trees for wood that wouldn't hold up & the sap they used for glue wouldn't last the voyage. The boat came apart.
Even more odd that they could build a space ship. Then go into outer space and get lost on a planet. Instead of just staying in orbit and reach Hawaii. If you want to count the Gilligan's planet as Cannon.
The boat was damaged beyond repair with glue.
@@TryniaMerin if they had flexseal they might have made it sail
@@cyberdalekyeti Cannon, with William Conrad?? ;-)
I would liken Gilligan more to Gomer Pyle than Barney Fife.
RIGHT! Barney Fife was a self important egotist. Gilligan was just clumsy. Pyle is simple minded (he was a mechanic)
I would Liken Gilligan more towards Dudley Wash.
Shazam!
@@mikmik6684 Simple minded mechanic huh? I assume you're capable of rebuilding an engine correct?
@@falconater68 Gomer wasn't a qualified mechanic in AG. Wally didn't trust him to be more than a pump jockey. He was afraid to work on the Continental that Sunday. Cousin Goober helped him blow out the lines when Wally refused to look at the car till Monday. As Andy said, "Gomer's not a mechanic"
Goober drove the tow truck and eventually became a full mechanic when he replaced Gomer.
Gilligan's Island was filmed in the back lot at the CBS Studio where the lagoon was built, this was already in a documentary on the series Gilligan's Island, The Lagoon was constructed at the CBS Studio Center back lot. It was located about half a mile from an interstate roadway and the sounds of rush-hour traffic often resulted in huge delays in filming..
The Lagoon was only about 4-feet at its deepest point. Filming of "Gilligan's Island" occurred during the fall and winter months and required cast members to sometimes swim in the chilly 50 degree water. Bob Denver often wore a wet suit under his clothes to combat the cold temperature. it is all here in this link -> gilligan.fandom.com/wiki/Gilligan%27s_Island_Wiki
Thank you for covering yet another one of my favorite tv shows from when I was a little kid. I am thoroughly enjoying being able to go back in time every time you post a new video from a show I watched and didn’t think would have been a wonderful memory gone by! Keep up the good work 👍
FaZePlague 9882 exactly. I wasn’t even born until 1968 but I got into watching the reruns when I was probably around 5-6 years old. Thank you for your reply 🥀
Thank you so very much for the ❤️ Facts Verse 👍
Glad you enjoy it!
FaZePlague 9882 I was the exact same way. I wish there was a way to still watch them again from the first show to the last. 🥀
It was my fav after school show. I was a year old when it started so I obviously didn’t watch then. But I believed the episodes actually were prime time originals. 😁
I could see my self with Mary Ann, Ginger was to stick on her self.
MaryAnne. She has a down-home beauty, and is not self-focused like Ginger.
MARY ANNE...... PERIOD. 😋
. lolol ooof... i think i would wait 6 or 7 days. too messy for me
Mary Ann was all substance. Ginger was eye candy.
As my wife put it, and I agreed, in the real world which is not television, Mary Ann would pair up with the Professor. After a while, the Skipper and Gilligan would find themselves punching above their weight with Ginger, and she would mostly be making them miserable when she was not trying to break up Mary Ann and the Professor or the Howells. Ginger is a narcissist and a hussy. If you don't realize with Ginger it's all about Ginger, you are a bit slow on the uptake.
Mary Ann for sure...what a Body!!!
Southern Belle? Wasn't she from Kansas?
I think you are confusing characters
You are correct. MaryAnn was from Winfield Kansas. I remembered it, well sort of. I still had to look it up.
Dawn Wells was Miss Nevada one year, if I remember right.
@@wirehairs that's correct also! She was crowned Miss Nevada in 1959 and apparently went on to compete in the 1960 Miss America Pageant. I don't think much came of the Miss America bid. Btw if you are Interested there is a nice article online that shows a pic of Dawn when she was in that pageant. Absolutely beautiful, and it's just a head shot. It says she was 5' 3 1/2" tall. Plus a lot more. Her full name - Dawn Elberta Wells. I think if you just google searched 1959 miss Nevada it will probably come up.
Horner's Corners, Kansas.
I see some people are posting Winfield, but it was Horner's Corners.
Mary Ann was not Southern...she was from the Midwest...
A 3 HOUR TOUR AND 3 MILLION RERUNS LATER. ITS ALL GOOD.
Hands down Maryann. 😙😙😙😙
Mary Ann of course, duh . . .
How about another "dis-fact": But this one is probably on the shows producers. The "S.S." Minnow was not a steamship. So, the name should not be S.S. If powered by engine(s), it would the the M.V. Minnow.
Really? Wow, thats pretty cool to know. I did not know the origin of s.s. or m.v. Thanks for sharing !
I read somewhere that the Minnow was equipped with sails if needed so the SS was supposed to refer to Sailing Ship. The ship itself was both sails and a diesel engine according to the article. That being said, the previous response was correct in that back in the day the SS originally stood for Steamship.
Really?
RMS Minnow
Total head over heels crush on Mary Ann . I had a humorous crush on her back then. And carry that puppy love kind of crush to this day. It takes a lot more than years to change a loving desire that strong.
I pick Mary-Ann over Ginger anytime
Im still trying to figure out why Mr. Howe had a suit case full of money, his wife had tons of perfume and Jewelry, and the Professor had all thoses instruments and bottles........just to go on a 3 hour tour.
Because they could!
It's called taking your work with you. 😊
In case they get stranded or something. Buy what are the chances of that happening? They will probably be fine.
Because they were going home from a Hawaiian vacation and had time for the tour before going to the airport. After checking out of the hotel the brought their luggage with them. Same with all of Ginger's outfits.
There's really no reason that would explain it. Ultimately, it was a TV show and viewers were expected to just roll with it.
Mary Ann for sure ❤️😊👍
I enjoy your videos keep up the good work.
Glad you like them!
Mary Anne was better looking and had a better personality!
Fuck that
Wrong answer! The actual Island that was used in the opening is a privately owned Island almost dead center of Kane'ohe bay on the leeward side of Oahu. Public knowledge in Hawaii!
I am sure you are correct. My cousin who has lived in hawaii his entire life. While I was in Hawaii, he took us out on his boat and we passed right by the island you are talking about. And he told us the same thing. When I saw this video, I was starting to wonder if my cousin might have been kidding with me. But seeing your reply is confirmation that he wasn’t making it up just to mess with me.
You are correct, sir
I would say it IS in Hawaii, since that fact is also pointed out in another person's youtube video on the same subject.. That other person also pointed out that the "lagoon" was actually artificially created behind the studio building where they shot the "Hut area" of their camp. Sadly it was paved over and built upon by the studio. If search for it, it is a very informative video.
thats what I was told.. I could see the island from my brothers house

You have Ginger and Mary Ann. As the Professor, you look at your fellow males, and you realize that you are both the smartest and the best looking one there. Do you really want to get off of the island? This is why he can make radios out of coconuts, but "can't" figure out how to fix a boat.
I seem to remember him getting tired of the repetitive seafood and coconut meals. He never expressed any serious romantic feelings for Maryanne or Ginger. He did try repeatedly to create long lasting glues, but failed because the island had no suitable raw materials to do so.
At least Maryanne could make me a sammich!

The two are stunning, but definitely Ginger type !!
Here’s a little twist for you. The S.S. Minnow is an oxymoron. S.S. stands for “Steam Ship”. This boat wasn’t anywhere near being a Steam Ship! It was either a diesel or gasoline engine powered boat. It should never have been classified as an S.S.
