  • It fought me a little, but not too hard. Every one of the plug wires tested bad, yet it still sputtered. I certainly heard a beating/ slapping of some sort. It got better though. Might have been a stuck valve, or slop in the rod bearings-then with oil pressure quieting them down.
Next is to weld the shifter assembly back the floor.

and of course you need to add "LIQUID LEAD" fuel additive when you put gas in it with todays fuel. If not, the valves will get messed up!! And ALWAYS USE PREMIUM GAS since this is a high compression engine!! I had many R10s over the years. Wish I could find another in nice shape! And no stopping this car in the snow, even deep snow, Truly amazing!! I still have a 1967 Renault Caravelle, (1133) hard top convertible! Pretty much the same as the R10 under the skin. Now she is 56 years old!

I have 3 gallons of lead substitute on standby for the next project. The R10 videos is about as far as I got with it. A Mercedes 170d took all of my interest, and time away from this little car. I can honestly say I screwed up in selling it. Was really a neat car. I liked the front tire compartment!

    Congratulations: I RUNS AGAIN!!!
I think if you just rebuild the Carb, and replace the old gasoline with ethanol free it will run just fine!

Interesting car don’t think I’ve ever seen one of these before. I was just curious what type of Peugeot you got the battery out of? By the way I remember seeing your 505 for sale about 3 or 4 years ago.

I yanked the battery out of a 69 404 Sedan(Automatique). It just went off to the new owner Tuesday. A good car but not odd enough for me. If you are talking about the blue 505 diesel, then it and the 404 now have the same owner. That diesel is driven every day.
I had a few 505's. (Diesel, XN6, V6). They were alright, never enjoyed all of the plastic junk breaking..... Like that light switch stalk!
This r10 has some decent rust in the floor. I later cleaned up the carb, and got it running well. Had to hold the base of the shifter to find a gear...... I was just happy to save it from the crusher...

Odd Cars Yea, the plastic are very annoying especially since they’re so old. The Renault is definitely worth saving such a rare car. Maybe you should think about buying a Citroen, my dad has a 73 Sm he’s has owned for years. They are really cool and quirky cars, that’s what I love about them. I know they’re getting hard to find for a reasonable price but if you can find one for a good price you should definitely pick it up. Good to hear the 505 is in good hands! 👍
