  • When white-tailed kite chicks have fledged, it means they've left their nest and started flying. At this stage, the father kite is super busy hunting for voles, which are small rodents, to feed his hungry babies. He's like a superhero dad, zooming around and catching voles like it's his job (which, to be fair, it kind of is!). Sometimes, he brings the food straight to the nest where the chicks are waiting eagerly. Other times, he might perch on a nearby branch and deliver the food there. But every now and then, they do something really cool called an "aerial food transfer." This is like a mid-air handoff, where the dad passes the food directly to one of the flying chicks! It's like watching a superhero movie, but in real life!
