- Bob "Bones" and Carolyn's 1949 Cadillac is a beauty, but often leaves them stranded. So we helped build them a cruiser that could go coast to coast while leaving the body alone and focusing on drivability and comfort.
Modifications-
•LS3 w/ 6speed 6L90E transmission
•Roadster Shop Chassis
•Custom exhaust system utilizing Magnaflow components and 4 mufflers
•Custom fuel tank from Rick's Tanks
•Baer Brakes
•Rewired electrical
•Fixed top and windows
•Repainted firewall and hood
•Vintage Air system
•Custom 18" wheels designed by Chip, machined by Mike Curtis/Curtis Speed Equipment

It’s nice to see these older guys still working.
LOL, yeah man, I'm an old school hot rodder, 70 years young, and that was the first thing I noticed...... haha!!
A gorgeous car now made reliable, safe, and a pleasure to drive by skilled craftsman.
Foose is the best of the custom car builders today.
I like that Chip is hands on with all of his builds.
Do ya ? Is that what you like ? Cool.
Definitely loves what he does.
and ruins many of them... Chip's a talented man, but he's always going one step too far (IMO) whether it's the style/removing all badges/chrome accents, etc., and his paint jobs many times SUCK!!
NO HATE, I'd consider it an honor for Foose to do any of my cars, but many times I don't like his styling...the rest he's a genius/ frame off builds and such, can't top him.
Looks better with the fender skirts on, I love the car, a beautiful vintage vehicle needed to be keep original, just my taste.
Everyone says this keep it original But if you want to drive and enjoy it Then you make it modern. You can always bring it back to original. He never cut the car up..
I had an absolutely beautiful 52 Cadillac Convertible. Started perfectly cold, but hot it would barely turn over. After trying all kinds of things, I figured it out my self. I used a double ground wire, and that was it. Started like a new car thereafter. Sold it unfortunately because I was sick of idiots giving it door dings. I couldnt drive it and park it anywhere without being so nervous about parking lot hits. No matter where I parked it some idiot would park right next to me.
Beautiful job guys.
That car is gorgeous ❤️
Got to Admire Chip. He has a plan is hands on from start to finish & the Execution of his guy’s work is Spot On. 👍
I’ve always love the craftsmanship of Foose and the team. Two thumbs up!
👍🏾👍🏾
I have to hand it to Foose Design, that Cadillac has a perfect stance and is nice n low but not too low. Good job guys!
Chip actually works on the cars as opposed to kindigit!
Chip Foose is in a league of his own . Sweeeeeeeeeeeet.................
I like how the exhaust is properly argon purged.
Most exhaust fabricators either don’t know, or don’t care.
Usually purging is used when doing stainless for the food industry for standards, for an exhaust system, you don't really "need" to have it done as the exhaust will just eject any loose debris anyways, so long as the tube is sealed. You will also want to do it to any welds before a catalytic converter too, just to help with the efficiency and longevity of the converter. When you're working on the induction system, it's a completely different game, as you want to ensure that there is nothing on the inside of the wall that will make its way into the engine.
With Chip being Chip, he would want to make sure that the welds look as pretty on the inside as they do the outside, even though no one will see it. It's also why everything on the cars he builds have had time and attention given to it, even though it might never be seen again, as if it's not done to perfection, it shouldn't go on the car until it is.

Not purging will affect the integrity of the weld, and cause it to crack due to vibration.
I’ve been doing this for thirty years, I should know.
Always a pleasure to watch highly skilled craftsmen do their thing. Beautiful car, guys! ✌️❤️🙂🇨🇦
As a youth, I had a '57 Cadillac. It was the greatest car I ever owned.
Pittsburgh is full of hills and winding roads. That car held corners like an English sports car.
OK then?
Foose magic, pure and simple.
Chip Foose = legend
One of my uncles worked at the Clark Avenue Cadillac plant on the southwest side of Detroit from '47 to '87. He was a final assembly and road test inspector. My folks lived about 4 miles from the plant, he would stop by when he tested some unique Caddys to show us. Great memories of a bygone era of Detroit. I watched a neighbor repair and repainted an all-white '49 convertible in '59. It was better than new when he was done, and it stood out from anything else. Caddys then showed the world you arrived.
Superior! Thank you Guys, God Bless you All ! Best Wishes&Greetings from Germany! Mr.Foose, thank you for exist!
So much more enjoyable than the TV show. Trans '89.
Chip Foose & team just added 50+ years to the life of this American classic. Well done!
I must say that is the perfect way to take a restored car and make it a pleasure to drive in today’s world ! Absolutely outstanding !!!
True Craftsmanship... Foose is the best!
You are the best...☝️
Subtle but superb ! Well you wouldn't expect anything less ! Great to nearly see Mike Curtiss ! Thankyou to all .
Now that is a real RestoMod.
S-e-n-s-a-t-i-o-n-a-l.
Pure technique.
The Cadilac is beautiful nice and clean with a ls and the wheels look good CHIP FOOSE is the man 👍
They are only original once. I prefer my all original 58 Seville and 62 409 Imp, both of which have original miles in the teens. I’ve got a blazer LSX swap with aftermarket suspension, but my heart is with the originals. Might be hard to start and leak a little fluid, but so do I these days!
I appreciate the quality in the build, but something like this I believe should stay original. But it’s not my car.
Completely agree. Originality is now lost.
I agree with the displeasure. My advice would be to keep this one original and buy something different for long-distance cruising.
Yeah :(
It’s sad to see swap an original working engine in that shape…
I share your sentiment here, this is a nice vehicle for sure and very usable but I could never change my 41 series 60 😅 just feels wrong lol
presioso cadillac, un sueño, saludos desde España, ahora vere todos vuestros videos, gracias.
Beautiful car, what I'd expect from Chip Foose. Love it!
Chip Foose has a unique talent of modernising tradition always with class then adding that touch of bling to make the car look original yet a bit spicy. Perfect‼️☝🏻🧐
I’m always fascinated with Chip’s attention to details, the red around the new wheels just like red steel rims under the factory hub cap back in the day. My first car was a ‘57 ElDorado, I sold it to finance college, best lesson I learned, you won’t find another one like it!
This is a build going on in my head for the last 50 years the AM chassis and LS swap more the last 10. But, age, health and financial situation keeps it just that , a dream! Nice Nick name for it, Sweet Dream, baby!
I love it. Tastefully and meticulously done, but what else would expect from the master. Would love to drive it and experience the modern day performance, handling and ride, with that classic body and interior.
I like what Chip did to the car too, I wounder what something like that cost?
Probably $15,000 to $20,000
It is a pleasure to see your work! Thanks Chip for all that you have done to the car design industry! It will be very interesting seeing you do something minimalist and quiet.
Love those wheels!
Gosh that is just plain beautiful - well done everyone; nothing more to say.
Those wheels are stunning!
Stunning
Love that car my grandfather had one just like that got it new
Beautiful job guys............ That car is gorgeous ❤ !!!!!
So cool to see people doing their job with an eye towards quality, not quick and dirty out the door.
Perfect music for the video.
I really should stop commenting before the video is completely over. Those wheels are absolutely stunning !!
OMG !!!! At the car in the first clips though !!!!!!! Double OMG at the end !!!!!!!
Seriously beautiful
Thank you for sharing this wonderful transformation with your viewers!
Beautiful.
Great design is great on its own and does not need design upgrades. Non visual mechanical upgrades are OK but that's it!!!
My 48 and 49 still run original 331 and many trips no issues
That's sooo smooth. What a great car.
Artfully gorgeous
Outrageous, gorgeous and practical. Wow.
Chip is the BEST!!!!
The late '40s were the pinnacle of automotive elegance. It all went downhill from there.
Gorgeous 😍
We had a 49 Chevy deluxe convertible.
I can see the similarities actually ❤
I absolutely love all of the work the Chip does.
Unbelievable Style & Talent ASSEMBLED under one roof. No one goofin off, all as serious as The Foose Name itself. I know Chips more than capable, but I miss the veteran guy that laid out the Pinstripes like nobody’s business, (RIP 🙏) !
Yay Chip… Yay Santa Barbara!
Truly incredible craftsmanship
Stunning, as always. When the money comes, I’ll send you a 1949 Series 60 Fleetwood Sedan for a similar treatment. Blessings on you all.
I have a '55 and '59 Fleetwood :)
Absolutely amazing 🤩
So calming watching those craftsmen at their art.
great job, i like this format showing the build progress
Gorgeous Job!! Well done. Regards from Europe Barcelona Spain
Wow! Beautiful! So fine!
Chip Foose…just a regular dude working away in the shop…caddy has always been my favorite sleepers…
Amazing what a bucket of spare cash can achieve. Old school with modern underpinnings. SUPERB.
Amazing build! I'm always inspired by Chip because he can do it all! Design, fabricate, build, you name it!
So nice.❤ Great workmanship.
Y’all nailed it!!!
A Work of Art !
@Foose Design Beautifully done. You guys nailed the stance, and those wheels are the icing on the cake. 🙌
Hugely impressive. King of the road.
Beautiful job. Foose is a genius. Congratulations for the time.
Outstanding
Speechless now the caddy is perfect
Awesome Work
Gorgeous Car Chip, I love your work. You have a Great Team
Stunning car!
Was cool to see Mike. He looks like he hasnt aged
Looks beautiful!
Fantastic work and a great video as well! Love seeing it all come together. Congrats on another stunning build!
The Foose team is amazing!!!
Rolling perfection 👍
My favorite car and my favorite builder. What a dream
Love the 4 muffler design. Rob's HP but makes a good sound. I get tired of everything sounding like a gravel truck. I'm guilty too.
During my younger years the exhaust had to be loud and proud. Today all I care for is dead silence. How the worm has turned.
@@johnvandeven2188 I think a powerful Caddy should have a low rumble telling you it's there but not get in the way of the conversation. This sounded really good.
Love the music ....................
I love these long form build videos. Thanks for not speeding it up and adding distracting music. I'd watch it if it was 5 times as long.
Noted!
That’s a beautiful old body-new chassis and running gear Caddy. Love it!
That’s awesome, thanks for sharing.👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽😎😎😎
My God is that beautiful.
Beautiful
Gorgeous looking car, great job Chip and crew!!
LOVED IT!
Great looking upgrade, and just how I'd want it if it was mine. I noticed that the shots of the car driving at the end had the rear fender wheel covers removed, and in my opinion it looked much better. Amazing work!
Wow, that car oozes pure CLASS!
Awesome car. Awesome work
great job, fantastic!
Gorgeous.. When I first saw the car, I almost didnt watch this.. Didnt want to see an iconic classic, being chopped up and restomodded, but this car looks and sounds beautiful, and I would bet drives like a dream.. Well done.. ✌♥️🇺🇸
another amazing build and I glad you didn't touch the body, that's priceless Americana.
