  • I got to attend the Ford F-150 Lightning Truck event last month and check out the new truck. This thing is quick! I had a great time at the event and am excited to continue following this truck!

    That low center of gravity due to battery placement gives you great handling.

    The power station is only part of what is needed to use bi-directional power to the house. You have to have a transfer switch installed to cut power to the grid so line workers would not be in danger of electrocution. I have heard the inverter is part of the 80-amp unit so an inverter is not needed. I may be wrong though.

      Correct but I can't imagine it would be very expensive to get installed. I can't remember the company name but the rep did say Ford will be recommending a specific company on our area to perform the install.

    So interesting that you are the second person to confirm the 80amp reverse capability power station is inc with the higher trims. 🤔
    Good stuff here, thanks for sharing.

    Can I ask how you found a test drive event? I have a reservation and am waiting to finally see one and ride in one before I spend the cash.

      Hey I actually just got an email one day saying they would be holding an event in my area. I am guessing they just picked several spots to host an event which had lots of reservations and then reached out to people within a certain distance to see if they wanted to come.

    Are you saying XLT trim with the extended battery is $49,000? I was under the impression it was 49k for the XLT 230 mile range and $59,000 for the XLT 300 mile range.

    • @justreviewit5025
      @justreviewit5025  Před 3 lety

      I wish I had some concrete evidence but when talking to the Ford rep he continued to say if you get the extended range battery that brings it up to $49k and into the xlt trim.
      To your point though I am hoping he didn't mean first you need to get in the xlt trim which is $49k and then from there you can add the extended range battery bringing you to $59k. If so, that would suck!
      Not once did he mention anything about $59K as all I cared about was the bigger battery and powering station. Guess I will find out more when I meet with an actual sales rep.
      I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed for this one!

      @@justreviewit5025 I rode in the XLT and really liked the trim, high end fabric which I preferred to the Lariat. I’m not a leather fan and I prefer the smaller (huge) dash screen over the Tesla style iPad. It’s the same LCD screen you currently get in the Platinum F150 gas model. BTW you must have had a hidden camera, they were really strict about filming in the car. Well done! Looking forward to my LXT in the spring hopefully!

      @@chrisw7402 Nope no hidden camera they were fine with video recording at this event.
      Also I agree I like the smaller (huge) dash screen over the giant iPad. Honestly I am still shocked the model (Pro) I rode in was their entry model.
      I would be completely fine with that exact truck all I want is the bigger battery and power station.
      Best of luck on getting yours!
      Random side note, I am currently taking online courses for an MBA. Anyway my professor said he recently purchased a Mach E and said while he loves the EV the buying experience from the dealership was a nightmare.
      With that I am a little nervous about how the buying experience will unfold.

    By chance have they shared/talked about how fast the NON extended range will be? Still have a TON of torque but I haven't read any stats on 0-60 yet

    This could have a magic power source with unlimited range and it still wouldn't matter. Ford will only make 15,000 of these next year, and only 80,000 in 2024! It's not going to compete in any meaningful sense with Tesla, or anyone else for that matter...well, GM maybe. MAYBE.

    • @justreviewit5025
      @justreviewit5025  Před 3 lety

      Not to mention they're still struggling to fulfill all the Mustang Mach E orders too. Given GM is going through their bolt recall issues I think the time would be now for Ford to get an advantage.
