    Probably the most amazing paint job I've ever witnessed! And it has to be a pretty good looking one before I even choose to take time to watch a paint-one video. Definitely worth the view!

    Ratio for reducer to paint is usually 1 to 1 and if you take the nose cone off it reduces tip dry and you can do finer lines with it just lower the air pressure down to about 20 psi

    It's incredible, after all the sanding for what seems like forever, and achieving a near perfect shape and surface... the first base coat of paint reveals everything that was missed or needs more attention!
    I've been experiencing a lot of problems with the 4012 reducer. If too much is used with certain Createx paints, it causes the paint to coagulate/seize and clog the nozzle. I found that they now recommend 4011, because 4012 it too "hot". 4012 can be thinned with water to be use in problematic paints so that it's not too strong.
    I always take the needle out the nozzle end of the brush so as to not pull any paint back towards the trigger mechanism.
    Two questions: How many dots? & How many hours?
    I am utterly amazed and completely in awe by that paint job! Stunning!!!

    • @zimmtex
      @zimmtex  Před rokem +1

      I haven't had any problems with this reducer so far, but I'll pick up some 4011 the next time I need some for comparison. I appreciate your input! I honestly don't know how many dots, but I did spend 27 hours painting this lure. Not economical at all, but I just really wanted to do it. Thanks for watching!

    Not sure if you know this, but that nut that locks the needle in place on the back of the air brush.....you can just break that loose with a couple of turns. You don't have to remove it completely. I've lost so many of those little locking nuts taking them all the way off.

    • @zimmtex
      @zimmtex  Před rokem +1

      I guess I didn't realize that, thank you for the tip! I've been lucky so far and haven't lost any parts.

    Beautiful paintjob as always. One of my biggest issue with airbrushing is the initial primer/ white layer, of which i always seem to need like 100 layers to fully hide the ballast holes. But i suppose apart from an aerosol primer, there is little you can do?

    • @zimmtex
      @zimmtex  Před rokem

      Thanks! You could try using a little bit of drywall spackle to fill those small inperfections; Let it dry and sand it down with fine sandpaper, then put another layer of paint over it. You could also pick up a can of automotive primer with a filler in it. It's a high build primer made for car scratches that you can sand down.

    30 psi is way to much air for that Iwata Eclipse. I spray anywhere between 11 and 17 psi. If I'm covering a lot of area I go up to 25 psi.

    • @zimmtex
      @zimmtex  Před rokem

      To be honest, I'm fairly new to airbrushing, and am self-taught. The manual reccomended 25-55 psi, so I've been working with 30 psi with pretty good results. I will definately try out a lower psi to see what that's like. Thanks for watching and sharing your experience.

    What a great video ! I have a question : when I put scotch on my lures I "scratch" off (i dont know the correct world) do you know a solution to this ?

    • @zimmtex
      @zimmtex  Před rokem

      Sometimes the tape does pull off paint. Make sure each layer is completely dry. Also, I paint two layers of Kamar varnish over everything before I tape it, which I think helps.
