  • In the 1960s, folk music blossomed in Cornwall. Located on the spectacular mining coast of Cornwall, the Count House could hardly have been better suited as a folk music venue. Resident singers, Tel Mann and John Langford, better known as John the Fish, became the undisputed fathers of modern folk singing in Cornwall. This is John's story.

Now the world has lost my woñderful friend John,
I am personally devastated, he was a constant in our lives and never could imagine life
    without him.
The world is now a lesser place for his passing.
    I also feel deeply
    for Carrie and the
    family.
Rest In Peace my friend .

I had forgotten this interview with John, it brings back memories of when he and I sometimes sang together at the clubs here in Cornwall. I now have returned home to Cornwall and hope to visit him and Carrie soon.

Boy? John the Fish died earlier this year at the age of 86. What're you, 102?
Also, more than a few people have moved from where they were born to other places they've felt more at home. He probably did more for Cornish culture than a lot of local-bred people, and who'se to say what his heritage had? My family had been living in London for a century or so, but we came from Thanckes originally. Should we give that up for the sake of a couple of generations? Methinks you've got an axe to bury, kid.
