    WOW, I remember Yolande Bavan in Sri-Lanka back in the 60's. I was very young when she visited my home a couple of times. My Father Gazali Amit now 97 who was a jazz guitarist accompanied her on a radio show. She is a wonderful jazz singer.

    I could sing to lambert hendricks ross and bavan all day long...it would be my desert island disc choice...i love ms bavan when she sings "Shining Stockings" fabulous classy lady

    I can't believe anybody would hire a singer in a jazz group on a basis of one high note.
    Lambert must have heard Ms.Bavan sing something swinging before or after.

      Agree....there seems to be some details missing from her story...like for starters, how did Lambert and Hendricks get all of her Embassy/State Dept paperwork completed as if she didn't know anything about it until Hendricks called her, lol. Sounds ridiculous...she would have had to given someone all of her personal information for the application and been somewhat in know.
