  • ********Forgot to mention that the 22mm nut needs to be tightened while the suspension has a load, otherwise the bushing will bind when lowering the car from the jack stands. This is best done after driving the vehicle up on ramps. I added subtitles to the video, but they are small, so I'm including it here too.
    This job is also similar (but not exactly the same) for the 2013 and newer models.

      What do you mean when you say, " Forgot to mention that the 22mm nut needs to be tightened while the suspension has a load, otherwise the bushing will bind when lowering the car from the jack stands" If I was to try to do this at home with jackstands, should I lower the car and torque to spec one more time?
      Thanks for the video! You got my like and subscription! I was about to order the entire lower control arms for (left and right) but I realized after watching this that I just need the bushings and can probably do this at home. Hope you get back to me with the answer, it'll be helpful!

      @@philiplee1216 Thank you, and yes, lower the car while the 22mm nut is on, but loose, then drive it up on ramps so you can get back underneath the car, and tighten the 22mm nut while the suspension has a load on it. The reason why I recommend ramps is because these cars are too low to get under to tighten those bolts.

    Does anyone else have trouble looking for the actual brand factory bushings or recommend any other reliable brands? I’m too afraid of purchasing a cheap or wrong bushings.

    Also if I replace these rear bushing on the front lower control arm, is it recommended to replace the bushings front side also? On the same control arm .

      Those bushings on the control arm don't typically wear as often as the lower control arm bushings, so the general advice is no, you don't need to replace them at the same time. However if you inspect them and notice any movement, then yes, they are worn and need replacing.

    Will this solve my inboard tire wear issue?

    • @araparts
      @araparts  Před 7 měsíci

      This is related. I won't say it'll solve the issue, but if your LCA bushings are worn enough, it could make a difference. I'd get an alignment as well right after changing them if you've experienced premature wear. Keep in mind that these cars normally wear the inner edge of the tires.....especially in the front. I see people getting a minimum of 20k miles out of the front tires. If it's chewing up the inner edge of the front tires before 20k miles, then I would look into a potential problem. Tire brand/quality matters also Cheaper tires won't get you the same yield from high quality tires.

    If I have play in my steering wheel which control bushing do I replace???

    • @araparts
      @araparts  Před 8 měsíci

      Replacing lower control arm bushings can help reduce play in your steering wheel, but if you feel excessive play, that can be cause by many things: Rack & pinion, control arm bushings, tie rods, ball joints, etc. In this case I would recommend that you have some one move the steering wheel while you take a look at the suspension components. This way you will be able to see which parts are causing the excessive play.

    No need for blue locktite or grease where the bushings slides on to?

    • @araparts
      @araparts  Před 8 měsíci

      No need to grease the shaft because it all moves together in unison once the 22mm nut is tightened. Blue locktite won't hurt. The bushing is the one that twists, and the shaft doesn't move. Check this video out. czcams.com/video/mpG32GK2mUY/video.html
      With this in mind, **I did forget to mention that the center 22mm nut at **0:27** NEEDS be torqued down *after the suspension has a load on it* to prevent the bushing from binding when the car is off of the jack stands. This is only possible when on ramps. This will allow the bushing to last longer.

    There’s an upp control bushing too?

    • @araparts
      @araparts  Před 8 měsíci

      There is, but the upper control arm bushing design is very different than the lower control arm bushing. It is easier to just replace the entire upper control arm than to replace the bushing by itself.
