I feel you about the goals, i read 126 books last year and felt like it was a job or something, so this year i lowered it to 75 and I'm only going to read books that bring me joy . 😊

I set my Goodreads reading goal super low even though I know I can read a fair amount of book, because I don’t want that pressure. Some goals I have for this year are to read more books on my shelves, and to finish up some series I’m in the middle of. 🐧

i hate that there’s such a stigma on a book count. i found myself picking up a 200ish page book because i knew i could finish it in one sitting to boost my reading goal. why are we making reading a competition? you know? love your take on the topic!

My goal for the new year is to be more patient with myself, and learning to be ok with saying no. So I think doing more of what makes me happy fits for me too!

Definitely relate to reading what I want this year and not worry as much about numbers! I’m also challenging myself to read 100 books off my shelf before I let myself buy any more, but that’s more to hold myself financially accountable because I own too many books 😆 🐧

Love your set up so much!! I know what you mean just make the goal to read what ever make you happy and just go with it. Love that. That is what I am hoping to do this year.
I need to do that. Unhaul so many things. It’s a on going process. I have so many multiple copies of books that I don’t need to have. I think I am going to do that every 2-3 week just look through my shelves and get rid of books. 🐧🐧🐧

I already acknowledged that I am bad at updating the books at GR (and Storygraph is a future site that'll be the same, bad at updating) and that I read some literary works that are not included in the GR site (like fanfics, etc.). So my yearly reading goal that I may post on GR (and in which I had not posted a reading goal in the past before, so I am not zealous about it) may not look like it completed the goal, but in my eyes I had done so (I still need to update 2022 for me at GR, but no hurry to do so). I'm sticking to 100 goals this year, and I'm going to include some reading materials that I'll record on my reading log/journal/planner as this number is my personal goal.
Also, isn't the disc bound planner so nice as a Franken planner? I may not be using one this year, but I have a ring bound planner that I'm using, another good option as a Franken planner. 🐧
🐧 I upped my goal for the first time in 2 years and I already want to go back to my “safe” number because I’ve been feeling slumpy. I’m only competing with myself so why does it matter 😂 here’s to doing more things that make us happy! My goal for 2024 is to make all my necessary doctors appointments 😂
