  • Install and review of a swing-away jack stand for my utility trailer.
    This is one of the cheapest and easiest upgrades for your utility
    trailer and trust me it's well worth it. I got mine at the local
    Tractor Supply store but Harbor Freight has pretty much the same thing.
    Here is a link to this jack stand on Amazon:

    Specs:
    1,000 lb weight limit
    10" travel
    6" Poly Wheel

    You made it look pretty easy, but mine was around $50 ish.. and how they had the old trailer jack on..makes it where the new one doesn’t go in the same place. I also wish I had man muscles instead of Elderly girl power ..I’m an old lady without any real tools except for imagination determination and being a little pissed off.! Lol .. I appreciate your video. Thank you.!

    Just installed one just like it from HF on the same kind of trailer as yours (carry on brand) It's an awesome trailer and now even more so with the addition of this jack.

      Every time I use the trailer I am stunned by how much more useful it is with that jack stand.

    I replaced one in my boat trailer. I have the one with a grease fitting and I lube the bearing buddies and hitch every spring

    Thank you, your video was so helpful I'm curious if you can add the double caster wheels to this jack? This swing arm fixes half my problems--lifting the trailer--but the single wheel still might sink.

    Why did you put the brackets on backwards not per instructions?

    Thanks for your comment. I figured out if I used a 3/8" bolt instead of the 10mm that the jack came with...it finally works. Yeppie!

    So I'm moving and need to transport swing set and pull my pontoon boat. But I can't seem to pull the thing to lift up the wheel, is the truck too full?

    Can you use the Jack stand with a full load of Mulch in the trailer? Will it hold?

    • @denoftools
      @denoftools  Před 4 lety

      I don't know about mulch but I had the trailer loaded up with 3 tool boxes completely full of tools. It was most certainly over the weight capacity of the trailer. And I had zero problems most cranking it up or down

    I got this at Walmart, but this is too tall for my trailer. Any suggestions?

    • @denoftools
      @denoftools  Před 6 lety

      The only thing I might suggest is trying to see if someone sells a smaller one there's really not much of a way to adjust it past the the lowest setting.

    The pivot on my jack is frozen. Suggestion? I want to keep it and not replace mine.

    • @denoftools
      @denoftools  Před 5 lety

      First I'd try a penetrating oil. If that doesn't work a heat gun and then ice bath. Once you get it moving, strip it, clean it and try it again.

    What if the trailer tongue itself is too small for the wheel jack?

    • @denoftools
      @denoftools  Před 6 lety

      Like it's too short when the jack is swiveled up? Or that the bar is too small for the mounting bracket?

    • @denoftools
      @denoftools  Před 7 lety

      The real issue is that the bottom bolts are up against the bottom of the trailer arm. The top bolts are there to clamp it down.
