- Organizing a basic paragraph can be very difficult.....that is why I am here to help you write an awesome body paragraph! In this video, I provide a clear example of how to format and organize a paragraph for beginners in 3 easy steps. You can follow these steps whether you are just writing one paragraph, an essay, or an entire research paper! I follow the ideas of organization that align with the 6+1 Traits of Writing.

Like a house, every paragraph needs to follow a simple structure because, without it, our writing can become very messy and confusing to read. First, I explain the basic structure of a hamburger paragraph. Every paragraph must include a clear and strong topic sentence, many supporting details, and a concluding sentence to wrap up the main idea. No matter what age or grade level, I found the hamburger paragraph structure to be highly effective.
Second, I provide a clear and strong example so you can see the basic structure of a hamburger paragraph in action. If you look at my paragraph you will see that my topic sentence is written in red, my supporting details are in green, and my concluding sentence is in orange. I do this intentionally so that you and I can clearly see the organization of my paragraph. It is just a helpful tool to make sure my paragraph is well written and organized. Again, my goal is to help you write a basic but organized paragraph.
Third, I take the time to edit and revise my paragraph in order to make sure it is as clear and organized as possible. I suggest you take the time to reread your writing and make sure it follows the basic structure of a hamburger paragraph.

Thank you for your videos! I teach 6th-grade ELA. I used your conclusion and introduction videos because you explain it all the same way I teach it and this allowed my writers to self-pace and move forward in their writing without waiting for me to teach the next step. Thank you for posting these helpful videos. I am terrible at writing and reading. I am going to follow your examples from this video to improve my writing. Building my first paragraph, topic sentence, and conclusion, which needs to be rephrased (using synonyms or different words so it does sounds repetitive ) are so hard for me. Next, are sentences structures, these are so challenging too. I have subscribed to your channel and I hope more people would do that as well because your content is so helpful, clear and concise, direct to the point, and excellent examples. I would love to see some grammar videos when you have an opportunity in your valuable time. Muchas gracias!

About sentence structure: I feel that sometimes I cannot follow a parallelism correctly, sentence cohesion, using prepositions incorrectly (to, on , for, with, etc.), flow of ideas correctly in a paragraph, using different words (vocabulary synonyms) when I have to rephrase or recall my thesis and topic sentences in my paragraph conclusion. Again, the most challenging part is to brainstorm ideas and also building first and body paragraphs ones as well. I would like to ask if I can email you (MisterMessinger@gmail.com) a few samples I have written in the last few days for a feedback. I would really appreciate it. Thank you.
