  • In a performance likely not heard since the night of the concert, FRANK SINATRA performs live at the MUSIC FOR THE WOUNDED benefit concert held at The Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on August 5, 1948. Jack Haley of "The Wizard of Oz" fame introduces Sinatra. Recorded from the original transcription disc (the concert was broadcast on radio). The audio quality improves at the end of the first song. The photo accompanying the video is from a Frank Sinatra performance at the Hollywood Bowl in 1943.
    Frank Sinatra sings:
    TIME AFTER TIME 0:30
    THAT OLD BLACK MAGIC 2:37
OH BESS, OH WHERE'S MY BESS? 5:20
The audio is from the RIC ROSS Frank Sinatra Collection.

This was the fourth in a series of annual Music For The Wounded benefit concerts held at the Hollywood Bowl. The concerts consisted of classical and popular music as well as comedy acts. It's likely, given the cause (raising funds for the wounded veterans of World War II), that all of the concerts were sold out.
