Yes, that was Armand in the painting. He was renamed Amadeo by his maker Marius, and then renamed Armand by the Paris coven.

I thought the coven in Rome renamed him[ to Armand], long before sending him to bring Paris to heel. 🤔

Armand is both twisted & tragic, I love his character.
I see his 3 names as embodying separate lives/experienced identities he can’t cohesively integrate, but they’re all a part of how he behaves. “Amadeo” is his 2nd name given by his Master/Maitre, groomer & maker Marius. It’s clear he’s not processed much of his trauma…instead we see unhealthy roleplay with his slave name “Arun”…call a vampire therapist! tbh they all kinda need one 😅
Beyond being turned years later when he was sick, Armand looks obviously different in the Donor painting which could be explained by him getting whitewashed for the purpose of ‘aesthetic’, like another way his identity was stripped from him. The detail of his pants looking ripped open at the knees gave me an uncomfortable shiver. In the books, Armand’s knees are eternally scarred & misshapen from the damage suffered in his human life :,(

The question is, does Armand really even personally see or recognize his maker as a part of his traumas at all? (I mean, he has his maker's paintings hanging in Dubai in ep1 of s1 in the 2020s, when Daniel first arrives; and he didn't ever actually explicitly state which particular set of skills his maker did or didn't allegedly loan him out for, despite clearly leading Louis to believe he meant the ones accrued in the brothel.)
And 'Arun' is alleged not supposed to be his slave name but his birth name / his "real" name[ from BEFORE enslavement], the sharing of which could be seen as something deeply intimate and personal or even sweet/endearing....but twisted into unhealthy roleplay after that, because both him and Louis are in need of therapy like they wouldn't believe even still in the 2020s in Dubai; which makes sense enough, considering they were already together for decades before therapy really took off or became anything remotely like it is today. Although it can be argued whether or not he might wish to dissociate from the name of a version of himself who was then beaten down and enslaved in much the same way, you could ask the same question of why then does he continue using "Armand" except that he may never fully separate himself from the events that separated him from his maker and forged him into what he is now in Paris and after. But it's incredibly dubious if he even recognizes those events themselves[ which dubbed him Armand] as trauma, either, the way that outside onlookers might/should. He has no name that he has ever personally chosen or identified with for himself, so far as I recall.
There is so much, as of yet, still untilled ground with him and his story in the tv series!
