25:52 - Some of it is also that, when you're reading the books, things legitimately read as seeming more one way than another in one book.....and that was the canon gospel, so to speak; until you could pick up the next book which then changed or completely recontextualized everything. So, for example, there are certain things in the book that play out a little differently than in the tv series that can leave you feeling a bit more negatively about Lestat(and certain things that happen in the books that the tv series just hasn't covered yet).... So, eventually when you're already used to swallowing both good and bad with Lestat to such extremes, or you're so used to accepting that possibly first-impressions could be wrong or than someone else's outside view on a particular character might not fully align with that character's own internal view of themself and such? I think that can prime people sometimes a bit more to be a little more willing to extend the same or similar kinda grace or leeway to all the characters too and not only to Lestat. If that makes any sense?? 🤔🫣😅🙃👀🤷🤷‍♀️🤷🏻‍♂️🤭😁 But, in the tv series, we're already getting a slightly more 3-dimensionally rounded view of Lestat than we initially got at first in book one....but still not quite as in-depth or rounded a view yet of, say, Armand. But, yeah, I would also say that Armand is perhaps less openly apologetic often even when he does screw things up egregiously(whether he always does so entirely maliciously or not)....and because his greatest strength is his mind, it can be more difficult to want to trust that he is being legit "just in case" or something even if/when he does seemingly apologize or try to amend his ways and more difficult to parse out if or when he is/isn't actually indeed genuinely trying to change or better himself or his ways or not, because you don't know if he's actually seen or not the error of it or if he just knows he needs to try a different tactic or approach or whatever because it clearly didn't work previously. Whereas Lestat will be profusely openly apologetic sometimes(whenever he finally does admit to realizing he has floundered or screwed something up beyond epicly), which can make you want to trust or believe him a little more readily or something, and yet....sometimes he still really struggles with actually changing the behavior even despite perhaps genuinely feeling bad about it, but I think it can still make people feel a little more readily like he is actually trying to make it right or do better or such and/or really wasn't bungling things up entirely maliciously from the very start. (If any of that even makes any sense either??🤔🫣😅😅😆) But maybe that's just me and my own weird thoughts / possible misperceptions or whatnot. I'll just stop rambling now!! 😊 ^--^

Side note: am i the only one who thought is was lowkey hot as hell when Louis went all Dom on Armand (the part of him telling Armand to strip)? Like, never thought Louis would ever be a top, but here we are. XD

25:07 - Nah, I'm completely with you! IF they manage to make it to the end of the published books with the tv series, especially if they have access to use any notes or hints from Anne Rice or her son Christopher to go by regarding things she hadn't written or published yet but might've tentatively been planning ahead for, I'd love to see it keep going even after the point when the books stopped-if they still have the same people working on it, I think they have the right kinda people working on it to be able to do it tributary justice enough; it won't be the same as if she had continued it herself, but it could still potentially be pretty awesome, since I do believe she hinted once that she might've had possible ideas enough to potentially write another 2 or 3 more books beyond the last one she published. That could be so cool. Or even if they just kinda, with this same type of respect and adoration and passion they've been channeling so far did their own thing with it even after the source material was covered. I think I'd kinda love that, too. Sort of keep the spirit and memory alive, even after. There's definitely a lot that could still be done. The story definitely wasn't closed or concluded completely, I don't think. Although I'm sure some people would feel the best way to honor her and the series would be to not do that, so, idk. I can't help my own feelings about it though. Buut, alas, we'll see! 🙂

14:23 - Plenty of people actually like Armand specifically for being such a dastardly character.😂 Just because you like a villain or antagonist character doesn't necessarily mean you think they're a good person or would ever actually condone anything they do if it were real rather than fictional. (Think of all the people who like Loki, or Hannibal, or so on.) People also like Armand for being sympathetic, at least once you get his POV in Book 6-but let's not confuse sympathetic with necessarily forgivable. But it's also important to be aware that Lestat in the books also does some really awful, dastardly things too sometimes(most of which haven't even been seen on screen in the tv series yet). It's kind of really just a big ol' tomayto-tomahto type situation which Vampire Chronicles' character or characters that each individual audience member personally will or won't find more and/or less likeable or forgivable or not and why/why-not. They're all a giant mess of good and bad bits all mixed together, really; every single character. Armand is definitely NOT literally everybody's favorite character though, just some people's(mine included-kinda tied with Nicki tho, for me). Lol But I personally think a lot of people also like Lestat best because of Main Character bias, without even realizing-the audience is generally speaking by very design supposed to side more with the main character than with anyone else, and often times the audience will end up feeling most attached to them just because the audience spends the most time with them and/or because the audience actually literally gets to see inside the way the main character's thoughts and feelings work in ways you don't really as much if ever necessarily get to glimpse inside other characters. And the depiction of Lestat in the tv series considered his depictions throughout the entire 10+ book series, not only his depiction in just Book 1 alone, so the way he is portrayed very much leads into the fact that he is the POV character for most of the series after Book 1. Although there is also an Armand POV book, too-far more of the books are Lestat POV, and not every fan has actually read or personally liked literally every single book in the whole series, for various reasons. 😊😶🤭🤭🤭 Lol So, basically, it's just very complex and rarely if ever so totally simple as it may at times perhaps seem it should be. 😁😁 And that's really the fun of it, I think! ^--^

A fantastic reaction to a much underrated movie as much about the power of communication and working together. I think this is a move that more LGBTQ+ people from the US should watch. I'm so glad you enjoyed it.

2:45 - To be fair, they have hinted throughout Season 2 that Santiago despite being younger was possibly powerful enough to rival Armand. (Sometimes, older, does not always mean more powerful.) But it's also completely dubious just how much of this actually even happened at all exactly as we're being told/shown that it allegedly did or not. Unreliable narrations, and all-we may or may not ever know anything for absolutely sure and certain. In a way, that's kind of always been the beauty of the Vampire Chronicles; to a point, every viewer/reader kinda just gets to decide for themselves whatever they do or don't personally believe is actually the truth or not, and they may or may not decide differently after each differing side of the story given throughout the entire 13 to 14 books long series. Some people decide there is no concrete/reliable objective truth; others, find one side of the story or another more or less palatable/preferable to them; some people essentially disown this or that book as inferior quality writing and too out of character to be acknowledged as canon in their own minds, OR they personally to just go with whatever was or wasn't written most recently and everything earlier essentially like a first draft that may or may not have been retconned by later installments; and so on. It's an interesting fandom!verse to live in. 🙂

Claudia and Madeleine going out was super heartbreaking. Way more heartbreaking, in my opinion, in the tv series even than in the books. I hate it so much, but I love that I hate it, it was so brilliantly awful.

16:33 - For some reason, I have a wild fan-theory that Nicki might have been Santiago's maker, since Nicki's name is shown next to Louis' under the Theatre and Santiago said his maker had also been put down there. But I have absolutely zero idea if there's any actual truth to that wild theory or not. If that was true, it'd be a tv series exclusive invention because I don't think the books ever say who Santiago's maker actually was or wasn't; but it would/could/ be a super fascinating development if it is true. 😅😅😂 Lol!😊

It's okay to have unpopular opinions sometimes-don't worry, you just keep on doing things in your own way.😊 A lot of people's differing reactions are likely due to the outside context they do or don't have. Since the show relies very heavily in showing, rather than telling; it doesn't really spell a lot of things out as much as the book does, and there are some things that book readers already know and have been waiting to see how the tv series will or won't weave them in exactly that aren't revealed until later books(like between books 2 and 8 of the 10+ book series). It's completely okay to be confused sometimes. Especially when the characters themselves just spent an entire episode being confused and trying to figure out what was actually real or not. There's also like half of the fandom that's here for the softer/sweeter and romance and humanity side of things, while another half of the fandom is pretty much here for the much darker and more twisted horror and monstrous beasties side of things, which can also often put reactions at odds. Nevermind anything else. 😊 You're doing fine! I don't personally think Season 2 is better than Season 1, myself, (although I do think Season 2 is still really really great) but a lot of other people apparently do feel Season 2 is better. And it's kinda hilarious that people think the writing was so tight for the previous episode when some of the episode was literally ad-libbed/improvised; it was chaotic and messy, but it was supposed to be. And, yeah, it was all about yanking the rug out from under everyone and making everyone start to question everything they might have thought they knew until then-all to set up for the steep coming rollercoaster drop and all of these last three episodes, for sure. 🙂

(Don't get me wrong, I still love the character, but Armand really wasn't the only one who was toxic in their relationship either. Lolll)

I think the problem for Claudia with receiving that role is because she doesn't know how much it really is just the character or how much is the coven themselves only seeing her child body and not actually acknowledging or recognizing the real her inside of it.

I believe the crazy old vampire lady in Romania did what she did in the end after tasting Claudia's blood deliberately to take away the one and only thing that really mattered to Claudia as much as the old vampire lady's decrepit revenant fledgling had mattered to the old vampire lady. (Daciana? was it??) But ..that's just my own theory. Lol I don't think anyone else has ever actually stated that this was really the case.😊😂😂💖💖💖 That's just what it seemed like to me, like she really wanted to hurt Claudia back because Claudia had hurt her but at that point Claudia and Louis still hadn't made up with each other enough yet that losing Louis would've hurt her as much as losing the idea of all her hopes and dreams for finding other vampires to connect with instead of Louis .. but then, somehow, it kinda backfired and ultimately just brought Louis and Claudia even closer together again, at least for a time. But maybe I'm guessing off! 🤷🤷‍♀️🤷🏻‍♂️ idekk!!! 😆😁😁

I always feel sorry for Michael because no matter what he does or who he meets he always has Brian at the back of his mind however I have always liked Brian because he has guts , money , style and deep down does care about his friends .

I should point out, and hope you didn't miss, the song that plays over the movie credits as they roll just after you stopped the video above. 'For a Friend' by the Communards, written for their friend Mark, after he passed. You see the band Bronski Beat during the movie at a fundraiser. That trio became a duo (Communards)..... check out the album 'Red'. excellence. I had the pleasure of seeing this movie on a big screen, so to speak. Nothing like a good cry in a darkened theater !!

33:23 - I'm sure you know this by now, but ..different vampires are stronger or weaker at the various Anne-Ricean/Vampire-Chronicles/ vampire skills(so each vampire kind of does specialize in certain ways more or less than other vampires might), not all can always do everything, and[ in the books] even some humans can actually sometimes confuse some vampire's abilities to read their minds too. And humans can kill vampires too, especially during the daylight hours, they just have to be smart about it rather than rely on trying to be able to physically overpower one(I mean even in Twilight a human probably couldn't physically overpower a vampire either). But the older or more powerful the Ricean/VC vampire, the closer and closer to unkillable even by other vampires they become. I'm hoping the tv series will explore this fact a lot more in future seasons, the differences in how their powers do or don't manifest or get utilized exactly in each individual vampire and how power levels vary from one to another.😊 But, yeah, since the Vampire Chronicles is a series about characters being a vampire and not about a human either co-existing with vampires or trying to triumph over them as an enemy....they are gloriously overpowered, comparatively to a lot of other series' versions. Lol

I DO forget sometimes why this show has count to my heart as long as it has. It really is do beautiful and engaging sometimes. You can really go on a ride along with the characters ❤

But that's the point, Billy. How regular people can be extraordinary heroes, even without having supernatural powers. That's what makes the show different from something like Charmed or Buffy. Even the Doctor, in the eyes of his own people, isn't very special. I mean, he was, but he didn't start out that way. He was a bad student, a misfit, etc. I think it's part of why he loves humans more than his own kind. He identifies with them more. Not completely, as we know, because of the way he sometimes talks about humans when he's annoyed, but still.

💅💃🧚‍♂ You, dear boy, are so precisely the demographic for whom this (Showtime) series was written. When this first aired, the gay bars had QaF nights. Amazingly community-building.
