Hoosier is 250-260 where I live, I'm just a local racer, hard to afford it!! Some local tracks won't allow us to run American Racers. 80 $ to 100$ is a huge cost for us weekend warriors. No need in letting Hoosier dictate tires

The racers that you are speaking of are top-level race teams. This is how they make their living. It should be open to any manufacturer in my opinion. The motor options are open to wide bore, std bore, LS engines, SB2 engines, and open on shocks as well. Why not open up the tires. Its not like supers can get more than a race out of them anyway. But for the crate classes and the limited LM classes YES put a tire rule in place and it should go to the brand that can offer the best value for the racer.

Competition is always good when it comes to stuff you use. Like Goodyear in nascar.. wouldn’t it have been great to run a different brand when Goodyears were being chewed up at Bristol?

We run AR on our 602 late model in SC and in GA. They are a cheaper tire they last longer and our qualifying times are just as fast as a Hoosier.

It's no question that American Racer is better on slicker tracks. But just like all industries it's about name, image, and likeness. I belive we should allow whatever each racer chooses. That makes it fair and dependent upon whoever makes the right decision!

Here’s the deal. We need competition in the tire world. If you don’t allow competition it is free range for Hoosier to make a subpar product and sky high price.Yes you may have to have some of both but very simple economics says this is good for the racers.

Hoosier has a monopoly and needs to be challenged. I just wish american racer could be aloud to be used everywhere and could keep up with the demand. An almost $100 price difference will peak interest. Nlmt or lm's were always 2nd best to the economy (1300-1600) tires

Racers are their own worst enemy ... they complained about all these different tires they needed to carry depending on where they raced. So Hoosier puts together a tire deal where you can run the same tires all across the country and now in a certain area they can run a AR tire ... all this is going to do is make Hoosier make another "softer" tire so it will end up costing teams more money, having more tires in the trailer, and likely teams using more tires because they will all put on the softest tire they can even if that means putting 2 tires on for a A-Main to make a 50/100 lap race.

Wasn’t one of the focal points of the HtFSS to create an option for some of the lower budget super teams to run a series?
Saving $60 a tire over an entire series season would definitely seem to meet that criteria/agenda/purpose!

From a local racer standpoint, AR tires (until either they raise the price or lower their quality) will be better for teams with less funds. Hoosier tires off there website without shipping is $223 (for all compounds) from what we have seen from our tests and walking pits at bigger shows tells our team that average life spand is one feature while AR is faster but also has a long life spand. Not to mention that AR tires from American Racer South (our dealer) are around $175 to $185, depending. Hoosier shot themselves in the foot with the NLM when the price went through the roof. The only big issue is that most southern tracks are Hoosier tracks. If you are a big team and have the money, sure get both, but AR has been the choice tires for local underfunded teams, and having big teams win big races on the tire will be better for everyone.

If everyone has to be on a certain tire, then they may as well make it where everyone has to have the same engine and gear, too. I don't grasp the idea behind series pushing things like this. There is nothing wrong with wanting a fair playing field, so to speak, but at the end of the day, unless the supers want to be a Crate series, then politics needs to be pushed back.

Having more than one choice is a good thing can increase quality just think if you could only have one maker of chassis or motor have competitive different options is far for all. That’s one of my biggest complaints about NASCAR they run different motors but the rest is single source on the cars there is no incentive to make a better quality part at a lower price that’s exactly why nascar isn’t as good or competitive as in the past. Case in point you never seen rims just rip in half as you do today the quality is not there and that is putting the safety of the drivers at risk with single source parts with no incentive to make a better quality part. So yes I am in favor of American racer all series should open competition up for both tire makers been seeing a lot of flats and blow outs from Hoosier the last couple years having options is good.

I started racing in 2003 at Memphis motorsports part with a Hoosier D55 tire rule, ran nothing but those until 2007 at Memphis and west Memphis, which is as close to a demolition derby as super late model racing can get. I never had a flat tire despite all the hits, bangs, and scrapes I took. In 2007 there was a startup Arkansas series I was gonna run with a few times that was American racer only, D55 equivalent, I never got to run with that series so I tried them out at west Memphis as it was Hoosier or AR, in the heat race someone slid up into me, touched the left rear with their side, finished the race and the tire went flat when I got parked. Tried the remaining 3 at another track and made contact with someone else, got back to the pits and tire went flat. Both instances put holes in the sidewall. After that 2nd tire I was never going to run AR tires again. Kept racing until 2013 using D55 and LM20-40s and never had a flat tire due to contact.
