  • Kuwait's Future Mega Project (2018 2040) - Another Dubai !
Kuwait is a small country surrounded by Saudi Arabia and by Iraq.
In 1990, the war for Koweït started when Saddam Hussein wanted to take back Kuwait as part of Iraq. The country is also famous for its oil production and exportation. Due to the black gold (Oil) Oil reserves were discovered in commercial quantities in 1938. From 1946 to 1982, the country underwent large-scale modernization.
Despite its relatively small territory, Kuwait has proven crude oil reserves of 104 billion barrels, estimated to be 10% of the world's reserves.
But the country is less known for its incredible modernity, prosperity , beautiful skyscrapers. and strong economy . Kuwait city, the capital really look like a Science Fiction city with its futuristic architecture and skyscrapers.
Kuwait has a GDP per capita of $71,929 and a Human Development Index of 0.8 , which is very high. The country is a
leader in finance, science and technology in the middle east. Its population is the most literate in the Arabic world.
Kuwait joined the Belt And Road Initiative in 2014 and the country will benefiti a lot from that. Chinese promised to invest many billion in country that joined the initiative. Despite its incredible transformation, Koweït will not stop its progression now .
Here are 7 mega project that will change the country forever.
    1- Koweit Airport Expansion
    2-south al-mutlaa city
3-Silk City ( A 1 km high skyscraper will be built)
    4-sheikh jaber al ahmad causeway
    5-Koweit metro
    6-Koweit new reffinery project( Oil)
    7-KOWEIT Vision 2035
One of the biggest project for the country will be to have diversify
its economy from oil. Kuwait' s economy begin to diversify slowly.
Some new startup and a solid financial sector help kuwait to reach its goal.

Kuwait discovered oil earlier and thus was developed since the 1960s. Dubai developed around 80s-90s. Dubai has fallen through with a tourism/fantasy approach in regards to its development, however it is not to say that Kuwait is ANOTHER Dubai. We were first. We are unique. And don’t forget the best is saved for last 😉

LiFE 707 What has happened in Iraq the past decades is a tragedy and a shame for the humanity. But I really don't think that Saddam Hussein could have had a peaceful an prosperous reign. By the time of the Gulf War he had already made himself intolerable for the kurds, after the bombing of Halabya.

Disappointed not to see more effort on wildlife. Wasn't Kuwait once fishing tribes? Large Parks and Reserves should be essential to any settlement so a connection to the natural world is maintained.
The fixation on creating dysfunctional cities reliant on others for sustenance is a worrying trend. It's also a shame to see so many modernist high-rises. There's nothing culturally significant to signify Kuwait identity or Kuwait architecture.
The first picture from the 60's had more character. They're relatable by having direct connection to local materials, climate, culture and purposeful usage.
Imagine a person in South-West England wants to build a house. They mine local cotswold stone, local slate and fell local trees. Then, using the foundational building blocks of functional architecture, they build walls with a door to enter and exit, small windows for light, archways and columns for structural integrity etc. All of these elements have a purpose relevant to locsl human scale and functionality.
Buildings done in this way--with a traditional ethos--are recognisable and reflect the people and place.
Although it's possible to pour concrete in any shape and there's an abundance of glass and plastic-compound cladding, architects shouldn't dismantle these grounding principles. Otherwise you create confused buildings for the sake of creating abstract shapes.
I mean, what is a corkscrew towers purpose? What is the purpose of a cylindrical building diagonally sliced at the top? Or a bent spire? There is no significance to them.
Compare that with a mosque. A mosque is instantly recognisable and culturally significant because of it's elements grounded in human functionality.
    Example:
-A human wants to call for worship.
-A tall tower is necessary to amplify his voice.
-The minarets being towers serve a purpose relevant to a humans function. They're not towers for the sake of being a 'cool feature', minarets are functional and signal the local faith. It's a show of the local social fabric.
Sadly I see too many culturally void buildings with no sense of place. The scale of mega cities are intrinsically troublesome.

H MF London like other cities continues the trend of childish modernist shapes polluting the historic landscape.
'Walkie-talkie', 'Gherkin', 'Shard' and more culturally-void infantile designs with no consideration for fitting in with surroundings grow like a cancer. Yet visitors to London still picture themselves in front of historic quintessential British architecture. Big Ben, Houses of Parliament, Tower Bridge--even phone boxes are of interest.
I'd recommend watching Leon Krier's lecture to understand my comment more. His ideas in his book underpin and explain my comment better. - czcams.com/video/kFiYL8AvvnY/video.html

There are nature reserves already there.. North of the largest island which most of the development will take place will have the entire northern part dedicated to nature reserves.. It's already a well known bird migration area and has been protected for many years. It'll remain a reserve.. The development will be on the south of the island. You can watch a video on CZcams called "Kuwait Vision" it explains the reservation of nature.. But it's in Arabic. It has graphics nevertheless..
