    I vaped while studying, running errands, watching tv, before and after I showered, before and after I ate, and in the bathroom while out with friends. It was constant.
    I'm on day thirty-four of quitting. I keep in mind the reason I quit. Time passes but my emotional memory is still in effect because I know that in about 6 months, I might buy a vape knowing that I could simply "quit again". I need to remember what vaping did to me. I experienced brain fog, it messed with my throat, my skin aged, and I experienced shortness of breath while doing small physical tasks. Quitting will always be worth it. To anyone reading this, I know it's tough but keep going and one day you will forget that you even took up a vaping habit.

    The "debilitating anxiety" you speak of is SO GOD DAMN TRUE. Don't underestimate this one folks. I was having almost daily panic attacks and I kept asking myself "why? I don't even feel anxious about anything". The nicotine itself causes you anxiety, even if you aren't feeling it mentally. I didn't make the connection at first either while I was vaping but within 3 days of quitting it was all gone.

I remember while I was still addicted I couldn’t even think about presenting in front of a classroom, one time i literally walked to the class and was about to walk in the door but I turned around because I almost had a panic attack from being that close to presenting. 2 years clean off it now! Just kicked weed to the curb for good too, 30 days off that now, life is great!

    I agree man, Nicotine definitely demotivates you in terms of certain things “making adhd worse” in a way. That’s the main thing I am noticing. The important things / less fun things to do are sooo much harder to do when using nicotine. Procrastination is insane on nicotine. You can be the most driven person & nicotine will slice that to pieces. Appreciate your insight on this as someone with adhd.
    Nicotine is disgusting & evil man, I’m certain on it. Waking up spiting out blood / having zero energy & feeling like death half of the time is not it. Don’t ever go back dawg 🤞🏽🖤

      I feel like vaping made my caffeine addiction worse and reinforced it because the fatigue i felt from vaping made me more dependant on caffeine. I would have described myself as pretty motivated in working out more than the average person and while that may have been true, even while using nicotine, it was stopping me from being even more driven and also did lead to me to burn out a bit easier because it became too easy to use caffeine frequently as an excuse to get around the fatigue i felt vaping a lot of the time.

    Your experience with the addictive voice is similar to mine with alcohol. I have decided that I will not drink...but I allow myself to re-evaluate that decision every so often. I can change my mind about drinking any time I want to, but I promised myself that if I did decide to pick up drinking, it would not be a spur-of-the-moment type of thing--it would be something I planned out carefully--almost like buying a car or a house.
    So my rules are:
    1. Never ever drink.
    2. You may drink again if you carefully evaluate that decision. "What would happen if I decided to drink again." I list pros and cons and I ask myself "Do you really want to drink" and the answer so far has always been "no" (just shy of two years alcohol free).

For me, honestly wouldn’t have been able to do it so far without finding the perfect replacement in this thing called a Capnos EZ (free publicity for these guys I guess haha, they deserve it though tbh). It literally looks and feels in your hand like a vape, and you get the ‘good’ parts of smoking and vaping (flavour, throat hit, sound, oral fixation) but it’s just pressurized air running past some cotton soaked in some food additive type stuff. Whenever you get the cravings you just hit this thing as much as you want till you get distracted. Quitting nicotines worth it, whatever way works for you - you got this 🤝

    Congratulations on hitting one year nicotine free! I had been vaping since the early days of ecigarettes for nearly 11 years. Currently I'm 7 months nicotine free. You definitely hit the nail on the head in regards to the cravings. I often find myself driving by vape shops and just thinking I could go for a quick puff bar. It's not a physical addiction anymore it's all mental. For me the first two weeks after quitting were the worst. I had many physical withdrawal symptoms such as tachycardia, shivers, cold sweats, increased appetite, and oddly enough, very vivid stress dreams. I believe this is because of how long I had been using nicotine. If any younger folks that haven't vaped for an extended period of time are reading this just know that quitting only gets hard the longer you put it off.

    I smoked for 25 years, and I just quit. I'm in week 8 smoke free right now. Dont know if vaping is stronger or lighter than cigarettes. Anyways, I smoked 70 grams of tobacco a week plus a pack of marlboros in the weekend. Never had any problems with my health. Until 8 weeks ago, got a raging fever and breathing became hard. After a week I felt normal again but couldn't walk the stairs without taking an extra breath. I was scared to death. I just quit, it was like a switch in my head flipped over. The first week I was sick so I don't count that one, but week 2 and 3 were hard. After that it became better and better. Now I just get a cup of coffee instead of a cigarette. I hope it will stay this way, but for now I don't want a cigarette at all. Oh and nicotine couses higher blood pressure so its possible (at least In my case) that you get REALLY tired in the first weeks. Good luck!

    10:52 holy fuck, thank u for saying that, everytime i'll stand up, I get dizzy af, but I never thought nicotine could be the reason. I was blaming weed or other substances, because I hadn't this feeling when I was only smoking nicotine, but when I'll think about it, I'm probably now smoking like five times more cigarettes per day. Often getting numb limbs is also a big thing.
    /Well, sexual disfunction also sounds quite familiar, and also I was blaming anxiety.
    I was thinking few times in my life that I'll quit smoking some day, but I was thinking maybe like when I'll hit 30 yrs. Now I'm 21, and I think I'll do it a little bit sooner XD
    Thank you for video, the only information about quitting nicotine with ADHD on YT that I've found, and I'm now definietly more decided on quitting. Wish me luck i guess, and also good luck for everyone on this path.

    I really wish people talked more about the difference between nicotine salt and freebase nicotine. Salt is straight up the devil but freebase not so much. Freebase is not nearly as addictive and it doesn’t hit that intensely. I honestly don’t know how people can stand the salts as they cause every symptom you listed in this video; freebase gives me no troubles at all. I’m not advocating for freebase here, but the differences should be made clear to people, especially anyone going for harm reduction to get off the analogs.

    I also had sexual performance issues I never attributed to nicotine until a moment of clarity later. Years later, here I am trying to quit vaping again. It's incredible just how subtle nicotine's power is. Nicotine will embarrass you in the bedroom and you'll casually wrap your arm around her. I find myself successfully quitting and going right back in a cycle that starts again every few years or so.

    Did your productive levels/ability to focus eventually balance out without using nicotine? Also would you say nicotine overall increases or decreases your motivation as a person?

    • @WiseWordsofWill
      @WiseWordsofWill  Před 10 měsíci +2

      It becomes a lot easier to focus in the long run after quitting especially if you were entirely dependent on nicotine to focus. The first month felt like a complete fog but by the second month it already became easier to focus. I think the hardest part about quitting is learning how to focus naturally but it's an extremely important skill to have. As for motivation, I think it highly depends on how often you use it. If you're addicted and using it constantly, it will lower motivation, at least it did in my case. But if used occasionally (not promoting it) I think it does have a positive effect on motivation and focus, but the issue with nicotine is that it's just too addictive for the vast majority of us to moderate it lol. To address your other comment on dopamine fasting, I have done that a few times throughout the past few years and I think it can be beneficial if you're in a unmotivated rut although I generally prefer to do these things gradually.

    I used to smoke a lot, I mean two packs a day plus 8 bowls of hookah. I just cold turkey the cigarettes. Hookah was much harder, first step was to not to ever smoke it at home. Reduced the amount from 6 per day to 4 per week then vaping came into picture and I was using nicotine free vape to have the feeling of hookah. The 4 per week slowly went down to once a week sometimes bi-weekly sessions then totally dropped. Later on, I started to have less urge to pick up my vape. When my old mod died out, I just didn't pick it up. These days I vape from time to time with my personal box mod but I am strictly nicotine free for my own mod. Rarely, I sample what others have but I never ever buy and hold a personal nicotine containing product.
    I am fine now, I still have the cravings to smoke a nice bowl of hookah. If your addiction focus is vape, never, never, ever touch it again. Even after 6 years I still have cravings or find myself inhaling second hand hookah smoke while passing in front of a hookah bar. So best is to keep it away and never to touch it. If vaping were my addiction focus, I would do the same for it.
    Best of luck, you do need it.

    Started in high school, stuck with it since. On and off constantly throughout. One thing I can say it for sure messed with emotional intelligence. You lack social queues. It ‘s literally hard to walk/stand upright; in result poor posture. Gum discolouration. Puffiness in face/bad jawline. Say goodbye to any cardio or endurance demanding sports. The list goes on man. I have to quit, because it’s deviating me from my purpose and what I love to do. Deemed as a tranquilizer to minimize or reduce stress is just a gimmick, it makes it worse. I have nothing to say about the effectiveness of nicotine for ADHD, I've seen no studies and am not a sufferer... though your mention of heroin is not apropos. Adderall and heroin are on completely opposite ends of spectrum between "stimulant" and "depressant." Adderall is amphetamine (an "upper") and heroin is a narcotic analgesic (a "downer".) I believe the claim that's being made is that, since nicotine and Adderall are both "stimulants", they might have a similar mode of action in some of the ways they interact with a person's brain chemistry and psyche. Saying the comparison is akin to comparing heroin kind of hurts any credibility you might have to speak intelligently on the subject.

    • @mercster
      @mercster Před 4 měsíci

      Also saying that nicotine is bad because it is addictive... ahh, well again, I think you might need to read up about the addictiveness and harm potential of amphetamine. Can't make the argument about one while ignoring the other.

      @WiseWordsofWill  Před 4 měsíci

      @@mercster Yeah it was a dumb comparison, but the point I was trying to make is that saying just because something raises your dopamine, that doesn’t mean that it inherently helps your ADHD, I would cut out that part if I could because it doesn’t really land but the video is over a year old man lol not everything I’m going to say is going to be perfect and I have never claimed to be a professional, it really isn’t that deep, you’re allowed to disagree, most people with ADHD who use meds don’t find them to be addictive that’s just statistically true, and I don’t use weed anymore but that was never a substance I personally found addictive and it didn’t negatively impact my life, everyone is different
