This rendition of Frosty the snowman by the touches my heart in a way that I just can't put into words. It's the most beautiful version of Frosty the snowman in existence ,Liz Frazier totally pushed the envelope on this one , I can listen to it repeatedly until I lose my mind and still hit rewind I never really cared for the original version.
THIS IS THE BEST VERSION OF FROSTY THE SNOWMAN EVER! IT'S PRETTY MUCH THE ONLY VERSION I LIKE, AND I LOVE IT. IT'S SO STRANGE THAT THE TOPIC OF DEATH WOULD BE PRESENTED IN SUCH A PLEASANT MANNER FOR LITTLE CHILDREN. IT ACTUALLY MAKES ME EXTREMELY SAD, BUT IN A POSITIVE SPIRITUAL WAY
It's actually on the Muzak station called "holiday pop" which is played all over the country. Malls, grocery stores, hardware stores, everywhere. I was shocked to hear a Cocteau song at work, usually the Muzak station is torture. I suppose they could've done better by chosing Winter Wonderland, but I won't complain.
This is the only version of this song that can give me chills, fill me with nostalgic longing, and bring a tear to my eye as I contemplate the fleeting nature of our lives and ponder the inevitability of death in a way that makes me feel peace rather than sorrow. Just wow!
The guitars gives this song a melancholy quality which is something you don’t really get with a lot of Christmas covers. It’s pretty fitting for this song considering how things end for frosty. This is the greatest version of this song ever I listen to it every December lol
Wonderful! Strangely, this is one of my favourite Cocteau song - and I have them all - Liz's voice and harmonies have never sounded better than this... Just shows that they were not just purveyors of sparkly doom and gloom. This is a 'up' as you can get!
Wonderful supersweet children's song that even moves me as a 67 year old! Liz Fraser makes it very special.I play this song once and awhile when I feel depressed and it always cheers me up. Thanks Liz!
Frosty the snowman Was a jolly happy soul With a corncob pipe And a button nose and eyes made out of coal Frosty the snowman Is a fairy tale they say He was made of snow But the children know That he came to life one day There must have been some magic In that old silk hat they found For when they placed it on his head He began to dance around Frosty the snowman Was alive as he could be And the children say He could laugh and play Just the same as you and me Frosty the snowman Knew the sun was hot that day So he said, "Let's run And we'll have some fun Now before I melt away" Down to the village With a broomstick in his hand Running here and there All around the square Saying "Catch me if you can" He led them down the streets of town Right to the traffic cop he only paused a moment when He heard him holler "Stop!" Frosty the snowman Had to hurry on his way But he waved goodbye saying, "Don't you cry I'll be back again some day"!!!.... Frosty the snowman Was alive as he could be And the children say He could laugh and play Just the same as you and me Frosty the snowman Knew the sun was hot that day So he said, "Let's run And we'll have some fun Now before I melt away"
My lovely Sir Shumalot....Always missed by his Lady Razzle Dazzle...Only he knew my secrets and protected them ;)I miss Davey Ravey every day. An amazing man; artist; human being and a trusted friend... Big Hug, Sir Sumalot...Love you XXXX
One of my favourite Chriatmas songs alongside The Pogues "Fairytale of New York" and Aled Jones' "Walking in the Air." This video featuring clips from THE SNOWMAN will make me cry combined with Liz Fraser's vocals.
And here we are nearly Christmas again as I post this, I really like the CT back in the day and still listening to them after all these years, never knew they covered this, brilliant, happy Christmas from Ireland.
if you close your eyes and listen carefully. this could be a benny and frida christmas single for abba. in my mind recorded around or after SuperTrouper was releases. and release before The Visitors. for a christmas 🎁
Super video, Dave! The images that have really put me in the mood for a big snowstorm (or a big snowman!) LIz sounds so great on this track, too - many of her voices coming together wonderfully.
Hi shum65, just wanted to THANK YOU for all the tracks you uploaded from CT, song s I'm discovering and enjoying....Si, Viva Lisa y los Cocteau :)) for ever.
I heard this at a local mall that no longer exists, preceded by Countdown to Christmas by XTC. The big boss must have been away that day - like the time I went into HMV in downtown Ottawa and they were playing VU AND NICO. :)
So nice video again Shum! It's ethereal enough to be a CT video but also there's this relaxed snow man theme, good job :) And of course, it's soon christmas so it's nice to listen to this.
Hi shummy, best wishes to you, my friend...CT is for me more than enjoy is a feeling or an estate of being or "Una manera de ser", a way of being ...Thank you
@shum65 heh yeah you're right. won't be long till christmas eve eve and i decide i need to get presents XD really lovely song. thanks for all the uploads shum
Merry Christmas to you, Dave. I would listen to this when it came out in 1993 (I think on a compilation called Volume) walking in a snow tempest during the night 24th to 25th, lurking at people having festivities through their windows. Very strong memory.
I should have known! lol Shum, I was shopping today & heard this song playing while waiting in line to pay for my purchases & I immeaditly thought of you. Thought I'd suprise you by sending you a link to the vid. I should have known you have already made a video for it! Bwaaaah! Happy holidaze to you! Merry Christmas from the USA to you in the UK! Peace on earth & goodwill twards ALL men
You've clearly never met Liz. Was she difficult!.... Simon's the one whose done nothing wrong (other than train with Chelsea) - his arrangements are pure genius. (And highly underrated too - it was always "Liz, Liz, Liz, Robin's guitars" But, yes, she's a wonderful singer. Adds a touch of magic to every song, even when it's just the scientific names of butterflies
Those Beautiful Wonderful Cocteau's ☺ ~ I'm Having Their Music Played @ My Funeral, I Never Get Bored Or Fed Up Of Their Tunes 🎸🎹🎶. I Just Wish "Elizabeth ~ Robin & Simon" Would Re-Group Again ☺. Oh Well, I must Dash 👣 ~ I've Got An Appointment With The Spangle Maker 🍇🍒🍎 !!!
I remember when this was released on the Snow single (flipside was Winter Wonderland), the station where I volunteered at the time, KCMU, received a copy. I thought at first that it would be a pisstake, but it's actually a sincere rendition of the song, to the point it sounds like a Cocteau Twins original. Since the, it's become one of my favorite Christmas songs.
Now you know what track you'll be playing this Christmas, again! This song is so Cocteau Twins-like that it somehow seamlessly fits right in, they would be welcome to carol outside my house any time they please! : )
This rendition of Frosty the snowman by the touches my heart in a way that I just can't put into words. I’m a Goth and I love Christmas it’s my favorite holiday. Good to find some ethereal wave Christmas songs.
Noob question (and considering that this is Cocteau Twins): Is this Ethereal wave or Dream pop?
🖤⛄️🖤⛄️🖤
@@davimag2071 it's good music
Yep😎
It's Cocteau Twins, they're a category of their own!!!!!
wow, i can FINALLY understand what the cocteau twins are saying
I haven’t understood a word they said since their album Garlands. Now I have another song where I can understand what Elizabeth is saying.
😂
She still managed to inject some of her delightful gibberish into this song too.
Same, I could never understand what they're saying outside of this song. XD
IT ACTUALLY MAKES ME EXTREMELY SAD, BUT IN A POSITIVE

WHY ARE WE SHOUTING?
@@joelhassig6099 🙊
it always surprises me that some stores play this during Christmas time .
and why?

I was shocked to hear a Cocteau song at work, usually the Muzak station is torture. I suppose they could've done better by chosing Winter Wonderland, but I won't complain.
Julian A ww sucks
which country do you live in?
That’s how I just discovered it! Surprised CTs would do a song like this.
It's like they really wrote that song. It fits so well to their style. Arrangements are superb. As usual.
I agree: if I'd never heard the song previously, I'd never be convinced that Cocteau Twins didn't create it.
Couldn't agree more.
This is the only version of this song that can give me chills, fill me with nostalgic longing, and bring a tear to my eye as I contemplate the fleeting nature of our lives and ponder the inevitability of death in a way that makes me feel peace rather than sorrow. Just wow!
What!? Was a big Cocteau fan back in the day and still listen from time to time, never heard this hidden gem before, magical.
Lethal Crane it's from the limited Rhino Records Christmas compilation A Lump of Coal. I've missed buying a copy, by minutes, like nine times!
It's from their ep called snow only 5000 copies were pressed
Same here, thought I was a fan, obs not lol.
I've been listening to CT since 1985 and I still love them more very day...
I can't believe this is real. Love her vocal phrasing on it. Exactly what I would've imagined from the video title. Glad they did it.
The best version of this great Christmas song ever!!!!!
The best goth rock band making one of the best versions of a Christmas classic in history
voice of an angel
The guitars gives this song a melancholy quality which is something you don’t really get with a lot of Christmas covers. It’s pretty fitting for this song considering how things end for frosty. This is the greatest version of this song ever I listen to it every December lol
This is the Best Version of Frosty Ever Made. Sometimes I Listen to this during the summer too !!
Listening to this on Christmas Eve eve while wrapping presents with my dog!
One of, if not The, best nontraditional takes on this song.
best Xmas song ever
Wonderful! Strangely, this is one of my favourite Cocteau song - and I have them all - Liz's voice and harmonies have never sounded better than this... Just shows that they were not just purveyors of sparkly doom and gloom. This is a 'up' as you can get!
Yeah , but all they are doing is singing someone elses song
Wonderful supersweet children's song that even moves me as a 67 year old! Liz Fraser makes it very special.I play this song once and awhile when I feel depressed and it always cheers me up. Thanks Liz!
Frosty the snowman
Was a jolly happy soul
With a corncob pipe
And a button nose and
eyes made out of coal
Frosty the snowman
Is a fairy tale they say
He was made of snow
But the children know
That he came to life one day
There must have been some magic
In that old silk hat they found
For when they placed it on his head
He began to dance around
Frosty the snowman
Was alive as he could be
And the children say
He could laugh and play
Just the same as you and me
Frosty the snowman
Knew the sun was hot that day
So he said, "Let's run
And we'll have some fun
Now before I melt away"
Down to the village
With a broomstick in his hand
Running here and there
All around the square
Saying "Catch me if you can"
He led them down the streets of town
Right to the traffic cop
he only paused a moment when
He heard him holler "Stop!"
Frosty the snowman
Had to hurry on his way
But he waved goodbye saying,
"Don't you cry
I'll be back again some day"!!!....
Frosty the snowman
Was alive as he could be
And the children say
He could laugh and play
Just the same as you and me
Frosty the snowman
Knew the sun was hot that day
So he said, "Let's run
And we'll have some fun
Now before I melt away"
I love this, it could have been written by CT, it's so Cocteau
What a transcendent version of a tired Christmas song!
I heard this playing in Ulta and thought I was crazy for thinking it sounded like the Cocteau twins. I'm so surprised!!
There must be nothing more heartwarming and reassuring than having cocteau twins do a cover of a song you wrote

I so love this version of *"Frosty the Snowman".* Any other Christmas songs they've performed worth listening to?
