  • Haunted and Cursed Church of Indiana
    (Video by Rayanne)
A Methodist church had been present in Gary, Indiana, since 1906 (also the year of the city's founding). In 1916, Dr. William Grant Seaman became its pastor. He was before his time and wanted people of all backgrounds and races to come together in this church.
Indiana was said to have the most powerful and evil Ku Klux Klan members. Though it counted a high number of members statewide, its importance peaked in the 1924 election of Edward Jackson for governor.
By 1929, Seaman had grown unpopular with his parishioners, due to his interests in cultural diversity (including interfaith pageants). His dissatisfied white congregation were responsible for unspeakable crimes (including murder) of immigrants and black families. Many were killed at night inside the church as a warning to Seaman. Police looked the other way. (Most police were also KKK members.) Due to the murders, riots broke out in Gary in retribution.
The church is now said to be haunted by many evil members of the KKK and their ancestors. Their souls are trapped in the church for eternity as punishment.
The curse of the town and the church can only be lifted when at least 500 people of all races and backgrounds enter the church to embrace and accept one another. To this day, the majority of churches in the United States stay segregated.
Music - Cocteau Twins were a Scottish rock band active from 1979 to 1997. They were formed in Grangemouth by Robin Guthrie (guitars, drum machine) and Will Heggie (bass), adding Elizabeth Fraser (vocals) in 1981 and replacing Heggie with multi-instrumentalist Simon Raymonde in 1983. The group earned critical praise for their ethereal, effects-laden sound and the soprano vocals of Fraser.

Wow ....!!!! I've never seen anyone find a perfect setting for "Shallow Then Halo" within damaged and abandond churches, old facility buildings, and those creepy vignettes of dark and cringe-worthy people. It's also such a cleanly edited video, that I believe it might be a enough to submit for Robin Guthrie and Simon Raymonde, ongoing fan's "Cocteau Twins Legacy Project" which is an assembly of fan-made videos, who've truly honored their work. "Shallow Then Halo" is one of their best Post-Punk songs, which helped to define 4AD Labels ever growing list of Goth music influences.
Your work is to be commended ......!!!!
The band itself always had difficulty making videos for themselves, which is why there are so few. They all opened up and spoke, after leaving the 4AD Label, and described that, if, they had, had more hands-on creativity over the videos, then they would have been vastly different, usually not having themselves playing on them, because of each member's high-anxiety and stage-fright. Elizabeth use to cry, hyperventilate, have panic attacks, plus the struggle to perform in front of an audience ― So, she would focus her eyes on a distant light, way up high towards the balcony seats. Robin and Simon stayed off to the side, in the shadows with very little light on them, but nevertheless both their anxiety's were elevated by looking down at their guitar strings, which is why people said they were always "shoe-gazing".
Anyhow, I'm always deeply moved by people who honor this band's many contributions. Thank You .....!!!!

I'm speechless. Thank you so much for the compliment. I made the video and began searching for a song. I tried using quite a few and nothing seemed to fit. I finally remembered Shallow Then Halo. My thought was - "That's the one!"

@@ShadowSong634 I'm a huge believer in "going with the flow" thinking, which if, we followed our intuition more often, we'd make better overall decisions. The stupid CZcams algorithm often tends to hide these precious little gem's of work, under piles of bullsh*t others have poorly done. I feel as though I lucked out, this time.
Maybe you're precognitive by creating a video first; which just so happends to perfectly fit "Shallow Than Halo". Anything is possible right .....??? For what it's worth, you've earned another subscriber. Some people just have the right ability for making videos, while others just don't get it.

Sometimes the song comes first. It really depends. Out of the blue, an idea will just hit me. Yes, I go with those instincts. It's never something I think about. If I think too hard it doesn't work. Sometimes it does feel like an outside force. I really like your playlists. I plan to listen to them and see if any song causes the muse to hit me.

This is a fictional story l presume? I tried to locate the story online with no luck. And this church was constructed in 1925 l think.

    • @ShadowSong634
      @ShadowSong634  Před 6 měsíci +3

Hi! Thanks for asking. It is fictional and nonfictional. The first service at the church was held October 3, 1926, according to Wikipedia. It also states on Wikipedia that the pastor was in fact involuntarily transferred to Ohio because the parishioners were unhappy with his interests in "cultural diversity." If you look on Wikipedia about the history of the KKK in Indiana, it states that by 1925 - over half the elected members of the Indiana General Assembly, the Governor of Indiana, and many other high-ranking officials in local and state government were members of the Klan. The fictional parts? I know of no murders that happened inside the church. However, I have no doubt that many black people and immigrants were murdered around this time. The ghosts of those who committed murder being trapped inside the church is also fictional. Breaking a "curse" by a large number of people of different races going inside the church together is also fictional. I just liked the idea of healing from a terrible past. I wish more people would ask these types of questions.

Gotta ask: why Gary, Indiana? I mean, the city is held up as an example of degradation of infrastructure within America's borders, and I do know of Indiana's past history with the KKK, but are you from there? Btw, if America ever decides to take in immigrants properly (I'm okay with vetting them for previous criminal history), cities like this and Cairo, Illinois would be ideal destinations for them: smallish towns to invest in.

Let me try to explain. This channel began as a fictional channel where ghosts created their own videos. In the channel's description, I am asking people to ask themselves what is fact and what is fiction. A lot of it comes from my own imagination including the video's description. I wanted to challenge others to find what is truth and what is fiction. There are a few videos where stories are truthful with the exception of a ghost creating a video. My real name is Lisa. Thank you for your interest in the channel. Thank you for really questioning things..... which is what I wanted this channel to result in.

@@ShadowSong634 Bill. Who says truth and fiction are strangers? So much of so-called 'poetic license' is approximation and exaggeration of familiar templates, such as unexplained phenomena. Ghosts are fictional stand-ins for the unseen agents of change linked to the past..or are they real phantasms of one of the 10 (so far) postulated dimensions? Humans are limited in their ability be reliable witnesses to 'the real story', and our minds often limited to mechanistic thinking. Wasn't it Einstein who said that imagination is more important than knowledge? Yeah, sounds like some parts of empirical reality are fictions designed to grasp a larger truth, or at least, a fuller model to be fleshed out.
