Oh, dear Luise... I've just been trying desperately for (what feels like hours) to express how I feel after watching your surprise videos. It's been some time after that now and I'm still trying to find my composure. I just don't know what to say at all! 💚 It's a mixture of shock, amazement, and even a little bewilderment that you like the journal so much. I really hope you know that I didn't send it to you to make a video to go along with my fan mail...I don't know videos like that from you either. 🙈 I wanted to give you a treat, as you and your art have provided me with wonderful inspiration for so long, and distracted me from the uncomfortable things during hard times in my life. 🫶 I am so grateful to you and I appreciate the contact with you so much... I am so touched ...💚🫶 And don't think I only ever watch your German videos... I almost always watch both! I salute your English speaking community and I thank everyone so much for the great comments 🥰!

Oh Nicole - that journal is absolutely stunning! I love the unusual papers you’ve included and Your rust & eco dyed papers are works of art on their own! I hope you scan & sell them digitally, because it’s so hard to achieve that look. I’m guessing you used a mordant? I watched some videos of eco-dying with iron & other mordants, but the result was quite black so I didn’t see myself ever trying it. But your pages are such rich, cool, shadowy greys & with the beautiful moths, subtly coloured butterflies & the grey & dark greens & grey blues, they’re mesmerising. They make me think of a mysterious dark forest, full of ferns, twisted tree trunks, richly coloured lichens, deep purple & red berries, soft moss, mushrooms, sparkling spiderwebs in the grasses next to a trickling creek, birds with a piercing, haunting cry and owls hooting. Shy shadow creatures peering out under moonlit skies. Hedgehogs & snails trundling through the undergrowth, small Norwegian trolls & an Australian bunyip visiting their fae kin. Sigh. I’m going to have to create a journal in that theme now. Am definitely going to be subbing to you. Thank you & Luise for sharing that artwork with us all 😊
Nicole, your journal is a wonderful creation of Art. Many see “junk journals” as just something to write in or embellish, but don’t connect with the actual artistic beauty that underpins the whole thing. The butterfly theme is well thought out and not overpowering. A stunningly beautiful gift that any journaled would love to have.
I’m now off to have a look at some of your videos even though I don’t understand German. I’m sure that your creativity will shine through even if I cannot understand what you are saying.

I'm nowhere near the artistic level Luise is at... but I'm working on improving a bit in artistic techniques right now. I don't sell digital papers yet... maybe I will reconsider that in the future, but I have a lot to learn first! 🫶

To answer the question about plain or blank journal, it seems to me that not only Nicole left you with colours, smells and detailed embellishments that you totally like, but also with sufficient space, either to write or to add things you would perhaps like to see there, so she gives you room to add your own finishing touchl. For me, it is a gorgeously decorated blank journal, and seeing the large spine, she wants you to put your soul in it as well. And in that sense, it's so much more than a gift, I think.

This journal is absolutely beautiful! I would love to know how she does her rust dying and gets a gray color. If this were my journal I would start collecting things that would add to it colorwise and things that have special meaning to me. I might start by embellishing it with words or phrases that suggest the feelings you get from certain pages. I believe that would begin to give you the feeling of the journal as it would me without feeling you are destroying what is there. What is there is already so special❤

What a fabulous gift! On seeing the grey effect of the rust dyeing it reminded me that in the past I have used a tomato plant food solution which contains iron to paint on new wood so that (when it is exposed to the air) it turns to silvery-grey colour to look aged. I am going to try it with some paper to see what it does! Thanks for showing us your beautiful journal.

The colors and use of each pc. put together could not be any more perfect. I'm so happy for you. I love how you examine and see so deeply each element of decorating. You see so much of the flow and bring such a meaning to how you tell us about what you are seeing and experiencing! This is an absolutely gorgeous journal! And I believe a journal is blank if there is no added embellishments. No belly bands, tucks, flips, etc. A blank journal to me, is for people to put their stamp on it.

That is a GORGEOUS book. In my humble opinion, blank means available space to journal. I would call this book a blank journal. There’s also room for “embellishments”, but not sure why you would really want too. Some journals are meant to just be written in❤️

This is a beautiful journal. Definitely grungy but elegant. There is a lot of room in the journal to add a couple removable signatures without changing her artistry. You could also add to the pockets, add additional pockets and flip outs on her original pages. I really hope for a English rust dying video😊❤️🌸

Absolutely stunning! For me, a blank journal is one that allows you to Write and to create in it. When every page has “ adornment “ or the new trend towards contain oodles of authentic documents that you wouldn’t destroy.
This beauty has fabulous pages that would lovingly hold your thoughts, plans, memories, etc. Tfs
You could use onion paper or tracing paper overlays. That way you could write, not destroying the design beneath.

What a phenomenal journal! It is just magnificent. It was made to have more bulk on purpose. You could not ruin anything, Luise. I think you could write in it and embellish some of the simpler pages. This way you can leave your favorite pages untouched. The only thing I can advise is not to experiment with processes in this book. Create with some of the techniques you have mastered. You are super talented and I am sure you will add some stunning touches! Go for it!
Yes! This is what I want to say too Luise. Make some of your favourite embellishments and add them to this wonderful journal to blend with Nicole's lovely beginnings. Add quotes or words as you want but only if you feel they are right. Thank you for sharing.

If love to see you do a favourites journal, your favourite movie, song, meal, pudding, time of year , holiday, clothing, colour, animal all the things that make Luise happy i remember seeing one once that someone did and it was great to see all the favourite things you could even include your favourite tim holtz items in each genre like stencil, stamp , your Happy Place journal , i know whatever you decide will be awesome, and the journal is just beautiful x
All I can say is WOW. This is an absolutely amazing journal. This is a work of art. Even though there are blank pages in it, it is artistically done so well. I definitely think you should journal in it. You would only enhance it with your Creativity. Just beautifully done. I could only imagine what it looks like in person. Just wonderfully made.

This journal is amazing... WOW! Every page, every item... EVERYTHING about it is extraordinary. I'm not sure I'd call it a 'plain' journal, but maybe a 'play' journal, but then a lot of journals have pages that can be written on or added to or altered, so in a sense, I guess they are all kind-of play journals. BUT, I agree with @frytalker below in that this is definitely NOT plain or 'blank'. LOL

Nicole did a wonderful job on that journal, and it is made to write in! If you don't want to write in the journal, just write on a separate paper & put it in the journal with washi tape.

What a great story. The universe lined up for you to see a realtor creating something you found wonderful. Every once in a while by chance you meet someone on the Internet and they create something you absolutely love and your amazing friend was inspired to send you something just so extra special, you can hardly believe it. You must have done enough things to built up some good karma. You really inspire your subscribers and when you pass on your knowledge and creative inspirations the universe or God thinks you spent enough of your ideas and bring joy that it's time for something perfect, and wonderful that it's time for he/her/it to reward you with the right chain of events happen and that its time for you to to be rewarded in a spectacular prize.
Thank you for sharing this. What a wonderful gift! It is not a blank journal or plain journal. I would say that it is a writer-friendly or artist-friendly journal. If someone wants a blank journal they can get them from any stationary or crafts shop. I don't think a junk journal needs to be a personal diary. It can be a scrap book, an art journal, something we work in or something we just love to look at. I don't sell journals so I just make what pleases me. I think that this might be a journal where you do what pleases you, write, paint, whatever. No pressure. But please don't hit it with a hammer!

I believe the description of “plain” or “blank” almost carries a negative connotation, but I get what you’re saying, and I agree with you that this journal has plenty of writing space and isn’t overly embellished. As far as how you will use it? How about using it to try out those ideas/techniques that you mentioned, ideas that you may question or dismiss at first. Absolutely gorgeous. I can imagine you mostly writing in it but maybe adding some pockets with special photos inside, but there is no rush to do anything in it. I'm sure you will come up with something super special.

This journal with all the dark shadowy colours, moths & subtly coloured butterflies reminds me of a dark mysterious forest. Perhaps you could do a Black Forest (Es ist Schwarzwald ja ?) theme for it. I can totally picture it full of things inspired by lots of moonlit ferns, unusual mushrooms, richly detailed lichen, shadow creatures, deep purple berries, beautiful textured bark, twisted tree trunks, fossils, moss, delicate flowers, trickling streams, birds calling with that haunting clear whistle, owls hooting, dew covered grasses & sparkling spiderwebs with gorgeous crystals & rocks glowing in unexpected places. I know you’re not a fairy type creator (although I’ve seen a few of your creatures get wings 🧚♀️ ), but I could see some shy forest folk peeping out from the undergrowth, like some Norwegian trolls or an Australian bunyip on holiday. I wish I could create it for you lol. I can see it so clearly in my mind’s eye. Can’t wait to see what you create in it.
Luise, this journal is a stunningly beautiful work of Art. I’m glad that it came to you as I could hear in your voice how it touched your heart. Nicole has obviously seen into your soul and heart as if she knew all along as she created this gorgeous work of art that it would be for you.
