    Facial sculpting or contouring is a technique that gives the patient an oval- or V-shape face that is slimmer in profile. This procedure using Botox can be medical , cosmetic, or a combination. Essentially BOTOX reduces the bulk of a muscle called the masseter, and this can slim facial features, reduce teeth grinding, TMJ or joint clicking, and also treat headaches. This technique is a common and popular facial slimming treatment amongst my Asian patients, the slimming of the facial features gives the individual a more youthful look, balancing proportions that give the most natural and beautiful highlight- namely exaggerating high cheekbones, with sides that taper to a soft chin.
    HOW DOES COSMETIC FACIAL SLIMMING WORK?
    Botulinum Toxin acts as a relaxant for jaw muscles, inducing relaxation and also thins the chewing muscles called the massesters in the sides of the jaw. The injected Botox will block the nerve impulses of the muscles in the selected area, diminishing the fine lines and wrinkles while ensuring your cheekbones look full and face is lifted. It also helps to refresh your overall appearance, giving you a more youthful-looking face that shaves years off your actual age. Botox treatment is also suitable for individuals who are afraid of or do not want to opt for surgical methods. It consists of a few simple injections to the selected areas, with numbing cream applied prior to treatment in order to reduce any discomfort or pain. The smallest and finest needles are used to inject Botox, the procedure takes 10 minutes to perform is virtually painless. As the treatment only affects injected facial muscles, other muscles continue functioning as normal and your facial expressions will be unaffected.
    How to I treat bruxism or jaw clentching - teeth grinding?
    Bruxism is a condition characterised by teeth grinding and excessive clenching of the jaw. It usually occurs at night during sleep, and can have consequences such as the blunting of teeth, headaches, and TMJ temporomandibular joint problems. All this can lead to an increase in the size of the masseter muscles, resulting in a broad face and a square jaw- a feature that may not be always be desired, especially in females. Furthermore, slimming the jawline can help to convert a square shaped face into an ‘upside down triangle’ shape, and this is usually a more youthful facial shape. By using Botox, I can reduce the activity of the masseter muscles, in turn reducing the squareness of the jaw. This can slim the face in just one to two procedures. Certain cultures are more prone towards large masseters, including Asias- or at least this culture has a higher demand for facial slimming. Botox of facial slimming has no downtime, and starts to work within 10 days, and lasts for about 4 to 6 months. Usually 20-50 units of Botox injections are required in this area per side. I bring my patients for a top up to correct any asymmetry at week 4-6, as inevitable one masseter is stronger than the other.
    HOW OFTEN WILL I NEED MAINTENANCE?
    The effects of Botox on your face can last up to 6 months after the initial treatment, but more sessions are required in order to maintain your youthful appearance. Once a few treatments have been completed, future sessions may only be needed once in 6 months as the effects will begin to last longer.

    excellent use of Botox for facial contouring. It is very commonly used by plastic surgeons as well, when patient prefers non-surgical approach when muscle enlargement (hypertrophic masseter) is the issue. When surgical approach preferred and problem is a bony issue, angleplasty (outer wide angle of mandible just below earlobe) is used by plastic surgeons.

    Getting Botox injections in your masseter muscles has been proven to cause bone loss in the jaw, so be real careful and inform yourself about this practice before you do it, specially if you plan on getting it done repeatedly.
    I’ve had it done twice, 20 units on each side per session. That was enough to slim down my face, and I don’t plan on getting anymore injections. I still clench my teeth, but i don’t clench as hard since I had Botox.

    this girl is so pretty 😍 thanks so much for this video! I have my appointment today and I was quite unsure about doing it, although I looked for a good doctor, because I didn't want to waste money if this was just my natural face shape and maybe there wasn't much possible to change or maybe it would get too slim like you can see on some pictures (and I don't like oval and too slim lower jaws either, I actually like my natural jawline and pointed chin, but just thought my jaw and downer face would be too wide and I love a heart shape), but now I'll just go for it! And if it doesn't really work, I will just get another cheek filler, chin filler for the first time, and maybe liposuction in the downer cheeks (but I'm actually quite afraid of that treatment cause it's permanent and I'm not into this heroine chic, I like a quite chubby cute cheek), and if it'll work too much I will fill in my jaw again and train it, and I think it's not permanent for the first time, I mean I gotta try it now that I finally found out about this treatment. I was absolutely shocked and amazed when I found out about that like a week ago. Always thought there's no way for me to change my shape and get a smaller face. I've tried so so much since being like 14/15 to make my face look longer and slimmer. Greetings from germany 🥰

    The side effects are jowling later when patients reach 40-50 years of age. This is sagging that occurs due to lack of support from the masseter muscles. A lot of people regret it especially those that get more than 30ml on each side and more than 2 sessions. Please do your research on this. Jowling is difficult to correct.

      @ocandro Před 6 lety +10

      kiran mudnaney when you look at women thought of as the most beautiful, most will have not an oval (absolute stereotype), but a heart (Marilyn Monroe being prime example) or diamond face shape (Chrity Turlington, Linda Evangelista, Kate Moss - that says something) which are angular as well, but more "classically" apppealing - more girly/feminine. Even though personally I find square jaw an interesting trait (Demi Moore anybody?) just like every other shape other than round or pear (not that it matters, when you might have gorgeous eyes and lips in the middle of it), I think the girl in the video does benefit from the procedure, because it wasn't her natural, meant-to-be bone structure, it was caused by an ailment. I always think of Liv Tyler, who is such a perfect, elegant beauty with her oblong face, that most people typically find unattractive (all the horse face bullying) and it's the very thing that separates her from the crowd.
