When I first started watching AT, I did so because it was funny and out-of-the-box. I could've easily outgrown it, having been married and adulting and all that stuff, but the episodes just kept getting more and more profound. I just couldn't let it go. When Simon and Marcy aired, I cried so hard during Simon's song because it reminded me of what I had to deal with growing up with a grandfather with dementia. I don't know where I'm going with this. I just wanted to get it out of my system.

  • @Kaylascurves
    @Kaylascurves Před 7 lety +594

I dont think Marcy's dad ate her mother. I think Marcy's body as a half demon barely aged while her mother aged normally.
Her dad left her with her mother and unfortunately her mother just got old and passed away, and since her father was in another dimension, he didn't know Marcy's mother died or that Marcy was alone. And then one day she randomly finds Simon who takes care of her in place of her father who thinks Marcy is still safe with her mother.
We see the Hudson loves his daughter. Their are pictures of her everywhere and like all parents, he makes mistakes. But as he wanted Marcy to take over the Nightosphere in his place, that shows he thinks highly of his daughter and does respect her at least a little.
If he knew Marcy was all alone in the human world Im sure he would have done something to make sure she was safe.
Also, even though we as viewers don't know how Marcy's mother met her father, we can tell by Mother's tone of voice that she probably doesnt hate Hudson, and I think since their are no other kids to speak of, that Marcy and her mother are important to him, and he loves them very much.
In my mind, the mystery woman in the third painting on the right in the Nightosphere, is probably another demon Hudson met and married, making her Marcy's step mother. That is something for the creators to dive into and I am excited for when they finally do.

I think Marceline's Mom was supposed to raise her, while Hunson ruled over the Nightosphere, until she was old enough. However, her mom dies as a result of the mushroom wars, and Hunson doesn't learn about this for a very long time (since they probably had planned to have Marceline raised as a human child until she was old enough to handle the truth,)
If Hunson killed and/or ate his wife, why would he keep endearing pictures of her in his home? They were in love.
He probably didn't know the mushroom wars were going on, since he resides over the Nightosphere, and would have gone mad with rage upon finding out his wife was killed and his child was missing. A rage he would have fed to that demon gem, that transforms the wearer into his bloated demonlord form (which he would likely have been in while in a grief-rage)
((Also why we see Finn turn into this enraged, weeping demon-thing when he uses the gem in Return to the Nightosphere)
The fries incident could have just been Hunson being gluttonous, whereas Marceline is still half human and NEEDS to eat.
She probably opened a portal to get her dad's help, since her mom had died, but feels betrayed because like I suggested, he ate her food out of desire (since demons don't need to eat or sleep) and this threatened her survival.
Hunson would have gone back tot he nightosphere because 1-he cant be away for too long; 2- he doesn't understand how the mortal world works; and 3- He figures he will only continue to hinder Marceline if he stays, because he's worried he'll mess stuff up for her. As a demon though, he doesn't think to explain himself. He doesn't have to, he's a demon. That's just something they don't do. They still have feelings, and express themselves when they need to convey a message, but if they feel they don't need to, they wont. Demons are very calculating, and reserved...until angered.

I think when the mother started to notice a war was about to happend she send marceline away to her father!..
But after sometime marceline would want to see her mother again and maybe she ran away and went back to the other world and notice that the hole world was destroyed and she never found her mom. She was now stuck there and wouldn't know how to get back to her father and her father would be to busy to even notice she was gone not until many years later when the fry

    @DrTimes99 Před 7 lety +855

Dude, I like your videos and the content is definitely comprehensive. However, you need to organize a little bit better. You're all over the place, repeating yourself and self contracting.
As far as the "eating her mom" theory, I disagree. It's more likely that her mom died in the mushroom war. She is seen only before the war and Marcy is seen without a caretaker when Simon finds her. Simon then becomes her primary caretaker until he leaves due to the effects of his crown. At this point she is still younger than when Abadeer ate her fries. Simon says he'll "arrange for someone else to take care of her" but we don't know who he is referring too. Next we see Marcy in the diner with her dad eating the fries. We still have seen no evidence that her mom survived the war. Given that Marcy is part human, she needs to eat, while her father, a demon does not. The world is still a wasteland by this point, maybe 10 since the bomb, so food is hard to come by. Abadeer eats her fries, food that she needs and he doesn't. This cuts deep. It's the realization that he doesn't care about her well being.

Dr. Void I felt the same about the organization of this. i feel as if he reiterated on the lack of a bite mark on her well pay the point of it needing to be said.
I cannot remember if her mother had made plans for Marcy but her being a victim of the war or even the mutants that came after it, he'll she could even be one depending on how you look at it. how sad it would be to know her mother made her daughter run away before she changed.
But with her father...I'm reminded of that poem about a plum how the speaker confesses to eating someone's plum and to add insult to injury spike of how delicious it was. Marcy wanted those fries, they were hers, and her father whom she has rarely seen and questions if he cares about her wolfs them down without a thought about her wants and needs. it's a feeling that they care so little that they'll take from you without a thought.

I recon marcie was alone when simon found her because she was living with her mother in the human world while her father was working in the nightosphere. the bomb that was dropped contained a mutergen that only affected humans, thus killing marceline's mother. marcie survived unskaved because she is half demon and doesn't have regular human D.N.A that the mutergen could affect. simon survived for a similar reason, he dosen't have regular human D.N.A due to the crown slowly turning him in Evergreen. marceline feels abandoned by her father because he didn't leave the nightosphere to come help her after the dropping of the bomb and the death of her mother.

      Marcelines dad found the amulet

    Marceline's TImeline Theory:
Marceline, being half human, still ages. Due to the fact that she is also half demon has lead me to believe that she ages at a considerably much slower rate than normal. As seen in the "Stakes" episodes, her aging only stopped because she became a vampire, leaving her to be a teenager for the past 1000 years.
Marcy was still just a child around the time of the Mushroom War. She was seen crying alone helpless in the middle of the street until Simon emerged and comforted her with a stuffed animal. Obviously her being alone tells me that her mother was no longer with her, this I believe.
Her mother may be gone but maybe not because Abadeer killed her, but Marcy simply out lived her. Sad thought I know. As time continued, the years pressed on and aged Marcy's mother, but not her. At least not in the same way. Marcy's half demon blood did not allow her to grow at the same rate as her mother did. Leaving Marcy to watch her mom grow old and ultimately die. Sad, lonely Marcy was left all on her own with no one to care for her. After sometime, maybe even years, after the death of her mother, the Great Mushroom War began. Thus leading into a new chapter in her life. Meeting Simon Petrikov.
TL;DR: Marceline outlived her mom. > Years after mother's death, Mushroom War began. > Met Simon and got Hambo.

While she is getting something to eat with, her dad saw that the fries were cold and didn't really think much of eating it. When she got back, her dad was in the middle of eating the fries, and seeing that she was hungry and not much food left for her it seems to her that her dad didn't really care about the food problems she's been having, and then she claims that her dad didn't care about her hunger and to an extent, her life.

Wait, m not quite wrapping my head around this. So, when Marcy was a young child, she lived with her mother. Where was Hunson? In the Nightosphere? Or with the woman seen in the painting in his house? Then the Mushroom War happened, and she stayed with Simon, AKA Ice King, because her mother was probably dead. Then, after Simon is gone, she becomes a vampire hunter, correct? And then the whole stakes thing happened.... But when did the 'fry' scene, or the murder scene of her mother', happen? Her mother was presumed dead during the Mushroom War, and she lost Simon then started hunting, where in that time did she get together with Hunson to 'eat fries', when in the scene she is showed to be about 12 or so, but when she was that old she definetly was still in the wreckage. So.. can I see a time line or something please?? DX I'm very confused

Mary Garcia when she was young she was with her mother and must if been until she either died cuz of the radiation or attacked by those weird glob monsters after the war and she was alone and thats when simon found her crying and to comfort her gave her the bear. She stayed with simon for a while and then the ice king thing happens and she must of drifted away and im gonna guess by the time it full takes him over shes a preteen.
Now this is where things get fuzzy cuz it hasnt been shown when or how she finds her father but im gonna assume for now he finds hers and they spend time together as he gets to reaquaint himself with his little girl. Then the fry thing must of happened and as we know she gets upset about it and must of then decided she wants to wander alone and then this must be when she lived in the tree house, as she says she lived there before finn and jake apparently. so she grew and stayed in there which would explain those weird funny faces carved around the tree house which is what we know used as the portal to the nightosphere. Then while there this is when stakes happens and so on. Then later on as a vamp she meets ash and rebels like a teen and moves in with him in the cave house and then from then on is what we know.

I assumed Marceline was born from a ritual, her mom being human and her dad a demon, similar to Raven from Teen Titans.Which gave her the edge to fight and kill vampires, which became her purpose in the aftermath.
Due to her demon heritage, she was able to syphon the power of the vampires, leading to her taking on different characterstics attributed to vampires, even if different, such as drinking RED instead of BLOOD.
The rather arrogant vampires seem to revere and fear her as if she was higher on the supernatural echelon than them.
Lastly I see Marceline as a precursor species to humanity, due to the obvious knowledge for the Esoteric, mythological, religious and archaeological, seen through out the series's inspirations.
Within Humanity's own mythos she's of the BRONZE AGE a precursor to the HERO AGE which led into the IRON AGE.
Today archaeological wonders such as Baalbeek, gobekli tepe and puma punku defy our understanding and in some cases, capabilities.
Not only that tapping into LOVECRAFTIAN lore kinda suggests such potential timelines predating modern Humans.
She strikes me as being very Gorgon in her attributes, and transforms into beasty-mode similar to the woman from "Lullaby" in the "Witcher 3" series, which is a reoccuring archetype across many cultures.
You can also see this with BILLY who is clearly HERCULES, even possing his giant stature, in relation to precursor hominid species, and Humanity's idea for giants, even relating to Sasquatch compared against Babylonian hieroglyphs of them holding lions like pets. Vampire King adds to this,
Finn the Human is special (Beyond being the reincarnation of a Creator Trckster God) but because Humans are a new species just now emerging in this world, as seen with Marceline encountering them in the wild or with Susan underground, seeming to be both primitive and tribal still.
Finn is like a prototype avatar for humanity to follow.
Its a world similar to ones shown in Lord of the Rings and Star Wars.
At least that's how I've seen it.

People ASSUME the future due to the implication of technology and civilizations, yet, places like Mohenjo-daro of India exist, and there are archaeological discoveries, to many to list off, official and recognize even if anomalies that defy our academic timeline for history.
Sooooooooooo... As a writer and creator, this "What ifs" ARE on the bubble right now and it is criculating the Zeitgeist, much like ideas involving Shadow Forms, Ancient Aliens or Universes / Realities colliding, I can totally see that being part of the inspiration that hooks such minds.

Her mom probably picked up fast food, she was excited and walked in onm with this happening right before the explosion or close too.
Manifestation of her father is probably tied to the conflict.

I think it's very possible that her memory was changed. #1: Why would Marceline get so upset about someone eating her fries? (Yes, I know that's a weak argument). #2: Why would her dad eat her fries? Didn't he only drink blood/eat red things? Or, is that a vampire trait, not a demon trait?

Most likely a chance meeting, demons don't often reproduce in the normal fashion. Depending on what species you are talking about, it is very plausible that she started out as a snack or a victim, and for reasons unbeknownst to us, forcibly gave her a child, and for demons this is a major conflict being something dark self-serving that only wants to either destroy or feed itself, to have the notion of love even glimmer like a small piece of light, is absolutely terrifying to them. Eating her French fries aside the action of leaving her alone and her mother may have very well been the one act of love he actually brought to reality the small moment of love he felt for her mother and thus now transferring that to Marceline. As that small reminder of love. That is so fleeting for an immortal creature.

The main fault I find in that theory is that we see that picture in Daddy's Little Monster. If Hunson ate Marceline's mother, then who is that woman? (though I suppose he could have dated her THEN ate her). Though that woman does not look all that much like Marcie's mom as seen in stakes (maybe Hunson did something to demonifiy her too, so she would be immortal as well, then changed his mind and killed her.)
Also on a side note do you think there is a connection between the fact that Marcie needs to eat the color red and the fact that so many of her shoes and boots are red. Does she like to keep an emergency snack around (somewhat tellingly, the one time she was in danger of starving to death, she was NOT wearing red shoes/boots) Or is it just a fashion choice, possibly inherited from her daddy (Hunson's boots are almost identical to one of Marcie's pairs and are the only part of his clothes (apart from his underwear) that are not part of the amulet, so maybe that pair of Marcie's boots was a gift from her dad.)

I really hope the series will provide more incite into Marceline's mother. Also, she can shapeshift because she stole Hierophant's power to shapeshift. Stakes shows that she WAS bitten before the mushroom bomb, as the humans were departing on their ship she was bitten by the vampire king. Also, I have another theory that I strongly believe is true... you know how the humans said their equipment was going nuts and that they thought something big was going to happen so they sailed out on their ship? Remember the fish-like human-like creatures. Yeah. I think the mushroom bomb hit while they were on the ship(s), causing them to sink, and while in the water mutated into the fish-human-hybrids we've seen in a few episodes. Obviously the main thing that makes me think this (sort of like proof) is that the fish people wear animal hats, EXACTLY like the humans did because it protected them from vampire bites.

Also, I believe that the humans on the boat managed to make it across the ocean but some of them decided to hid in an underground bunker instead and later mutated into the Hyoomans. The ones who left managed to create a new human colony and that's where Martin fled from centuries later for some unknown reason.

With that in mind would make more sense why she was alone as a child and ended up with Simon. then when they were separated again she somehow found her father who taught her about soul sucking who ended up eating her actual fries that was a luxury after the apocalypse ( she and Simon did basically hunt for a can of soup) but due to their already strained relationship she left to hunt vampires and you know the rest

All hell broke loose on earth and even in the nightosphere so hunson abandoned her to retain the chaos and such, that is why he went missing in marcys younger days. I’m guessing that soon after she was born her mother ran away with her, they survived for a few years during the apocalypse but eventually her mother died, this left Marcy all by herself. I’m gonna say when she was three and she was just wandering the apocalyptic setting she found Simon. They stayed together for a few years but then Simon leave her with Hunson. Then when she’s 16-17 she starts hunting all the vampires and due to her soul sucking abilities can gain their powers when she does so. Eventually she gets bitten by the vampire king and becomes immortal. She then meets PB after that as well as Ashe but I’m not sure who she started dating first.

The problem with the her dad ate her mom thing is that she was a teen at that point, long after being looked over by Simon, so timeline wise it makes no sense. The real reason she was so upset is because it's more of a straw that broke the camel's back sort of thing. When children are often neglected by their adults they become overly sensitive to rejection. A child that is often left alone will have separation anxieties, and something as simple as their mom taking a shower will cause them the same level of terror as if she had left the house entirely for hours. This is because a child that is neglected has a higher hope and desire for affection. This is mostly due to the child imagining how they want their parents to treat them. Because Marceline has grown up with her father not only abandoning her, but manipulating her as well, when she does see him she is hyped up and wanting to be close, trust him, and have him love her like a good father should. During that time he shows he is only thinking of himself by eating her fries, which in her mind triggers all the abandoning and hurt emotions, which is a normal response from children who grew up in abuse or neglect. This is also pre leant in children in foster care who are not allowed to be with their parents, as they act out over tiny things such as a toy that resembles one they played with when they were home with their parents. They cling to something good, and to have her father take that from her so callously was actually a huge thing.

Interesting theory about transference from him eating her mother to fries, except she's older in that memory. older than when traveling with simon. plus he tends to eat souls rather than flesh. plus he remembered the fries and referred to them being cold and not very good.
That being said, if the dream was altered the placement could have been as well, it could have been him eating her soul, he could have altered it (or even later used the guy to do it for him) and the cold could have referenced the soul.
I think it's more likely she just died on the fallout.

The Fries song relates a history of the Father's absence, and sometimes it got me confused as what timeline was that. Guess this video's conclusion is the same as mine, and can help to dis-mystify Marceline's past to a bunch. Still, the show's got a lot of answers to give us about the MOM. Sometimes I wonder how that sweet woman winded up in a relationship with Abadeer! That maybe he might have forced her into it somehow.

My theory on Marceline's Mother is, she died from the radiation from the nuclear fallout. Marceline survived because she's half demon and was probably immune to the radiation. Marceline left her Mom because she became an oozer (as revealed in Marcy's Super Secret Scrapbook). Then Simon came along and saw a crying little girl wandering the wasteland alone. Simon was already going through emotions losing Betty so he watched over Marcy to make up for all the wrong he's done to Betty. Simon would later reunite Marcy with Hunson Abadeer because he found a note written by Marcy's Mother found in Marcy's pocket with the ritual to summon him right before his crown made him go completely insane!

( and in my opinion , that's ok too ...nothing wrong imo about a plot line that involves feeling betrayed over a demon eating fries when he does not really need to eat normal / mortal / human food while his half human daughter _does_ need to eat some thing like fries in order to live. To some it may seem silly to be that hurt / feeling that betrayed over it if it isn't a metaphor about some thing for some thing darker but it doesn't seem silly to me. According to the song, "Daddy, why did you eat my fries", Marceline bought those fries. So after her mom died, Marceline was abandoned and then she met Simon. Simon took care of Marceline until she was in her teens. Marceline was saving people that survived the war, and she was killing vampires and sucking their essences. That's how she turned into a vampire. Any thoughts? Leave your opinions

My theory: I do not think Hudson ate Marceline's mother. In the episode, "It Came From the Nightosphere," after Finn had played Marceline's recording of the Fry song, Hudson turns around and says, "I love you, Marceline. Don't you ever doubt that." Even tears swell up in his eyes as he says that. Despite Hudson being a demon king, he still has the capability to love. If Hudson got a human pregnant, I'm sure he would have loved her and wouldn't have killed her nor eaten her. My theory is that, as a child, Marceline spent all her time with her mother, since her father was always gone on business trips. During the mushroom war, Marceline and her mother could have gotten separated. The mother, being human and having zero super natural powers, would have died in this situation. Marceline being half demon may have been more apt to life or death situations. Hudson could have been unaware of the war because of said business trips, hence he was unable to protect Marceline's mother. Simon could have just been that parental figure that Marceline came across that was willing to care for her. At that time Marceline did not have any other options, and I don't think she even had a way of contacting her father. Also, I believe if Ash were able to go into Marceline's memories and change them, wouldn't he have changed/erased the memory of him getting rid of Hambo so Marceline wouldn't leave him?

TL;DR: Is good, but the main issue in the video is organization.
You covered pretty much all of the main points about Marceline's origins, so I don't feel like any points are missing in this video. However the way it's organized is a bit distracting. A lot of the same stuff is repeated at random points during the video, and ignoring points that were made earlier. For example, you comment on reasons why young Marceline was safe in the daylight instead of burning, and then speculated that it COULD be because she wasn't a vampire yet, even though earlier in the video you established that she was in fact, not a vampire until she was older.
If I could describe it, it sounds like all the points of this video were written down, as the information became available (after each of these episodes aired), but then not revised and put into context of the new information that was given afterwards. And then all the points were put in the video in random order.
Maybe one issue might be that a little TOO much information is being presented in one video, and many conflicting pieces of information are being interpreted at once, so it makes it hard to follow. It's not your fault at all that people involved in the show may give out conflicting information. But, what is in the show is canon in the universe. So even though Pen ward said before that Marceline was a vampire before the war, the idea was changed, and that is no longer true. Just like how in the pilot, our hero's name was Penn and they changed it to Finn later.
Aw geez. This comment got real long real fast. I hope I don't sound too rude or anything, and I don't mean anything personal. I'm trying to do constructive criticism, but apologies if it comes off the wrong way. The video is still good in that it covers a lot of important lore about the character, and includes cool extra little bits of information as well. I hope my comment doesn't bother anybody, and I hope it's helpful or something. Sorry I accidentally wrote this essay of a comment.

I think it's entirely possible that in the fry song, she replaced her mother with fries, maybe as to not tell Finn everything from the beginning. I'm sure, even for Marceline, that'd be a difficult thing to explain to Finn, so instead, she just replaced it with fries. Or as you said, someone tried to replace her memory or disrupt it, but it was too strong a memory, so it was instead altered. but what if she just repressed the part about her mother being eaten? why does magic have to be the reason she says fries? What if she just couldnt visualize her father devouring her mother everytime she looked at him, so he changed her memory... which is entirely possible. it's proven that reflecting too much on specific memories can make them a little more vague. Maybe she only remembers that she was upset, but she can't believe that her father actually ate her mother, and so she repressed it subconsciously, but the feeling of disgust for her father was there, so the memory was only distorted, not her emotions for her father. idk. just a thought of your theory, but with a little twist.

The way you wrote this episode went in circles. You already mentioned that Marcelline was still half-demon and not a vampire during the scene with the fries, and then in the second half, you return to that mentioning that Marcelline ate fries even though vampires do not eat that. You've already cleared up some stuff but you tend to reiterate them, and it just goes around like this and in that entire 12 minutes half of it was a reiteration of something you had just explained. Hope you could improve on this. I otherwise liked the video and I think you explain things well.

This theory seems likely that Marceline's mom was eaten by her father and replaced with fries in her memories but why would her OWN father eat his mortal wife?

But the years and ages are different. Why eat the mother of your child? Mar's mom died when she was a child. So unless she seen her dad grubbing on her mom as a child than no way.

Well, obviously all that anyone has is a theory of Marceline and her parents. Adventure Time seems to not display anymore origins about her background, nor the rest of the main characters. Hmm, I'm hoping that AT does reveal a bit more solidified evidence, for the main characters before this Show comes to an end in 2018...we'll see though.

This makes no sense. Demons were just going around falling in love with mortals before the Lich even existed? So how on earth did Marcy have fangs and pointy ears in a normal non-apocalyptic setting? I think the best possibility is Marcy didn’t have fangs or pointy ears and probably wasn’t even pale as a kid, the memories just faded that detail in Marcy’s head, and Hunson isn’t even related to Marcy. He’s a deranged demon who thinks Marcy is his daughter. Marcy formed some sort of bond with him and that’s why she calls him “dad”.

Actually, no. Marcelina got her shapeshifting abilities from one of the vampires in the Stakes! series. If you'll watch it, the 'old fashioned revenant' as Peppermint Butler calls him, Heirophant, has the ability to shapeshift, and Marceline loses this power when she has Bonnabelle remove her vampire essence, regaining it when she sucks Heirophant's soul.

Also, I don't think it's too far to say that Hunsen might've eaten Marceline's mother. After all, we've seen adventure time go down some dark roads before, and turn them into something funny or quirky, or just attention-grabbing. Things like kidnapping, stalking, and sexual harassment with the Ice King, neglect and abandonment with Finn's dad, etcetera.

Happily Ever After Gaming I have a Theory maybe Marceline's farther wanted to have a child not a wife just like in teen Titans Raven's farther wanted a child but did not care about the mother maybe Marceline's farther could have ate the mother because he just wanted a child

    • @daninell4779

Faye K's theory is to far off.. I believe Marceline was like a Rosemary"s baby.. In the plot of Rosemary's Baby, Mia Farrow is pregnant with Satan's baby and not by choice.. Also, her mother resembles the actress who played on Rosemary's Baby the TV show, Zoe Saldana.. This show is known for it's references to Occultism and older horror movies which Rosemary's Baby is both.. I think maybe her mom was more wanting/willing to have the Ruler of the Nightosphere's spawn considering she raised Marceline up to the point of the Lich bomb or Mushroom War..

Okay, I have an alternate theory to her over reaction at the french fries thing:
Marceline's reaction reads to me as hostile grief. Hostile grief is sometimes called 'angry grief', and there are a lot of manifestations, but the one I'm thinking of is when you feel angry at other people who remain, when someone you loved more is lost to you.
This can happen to people who lose the parent they considered more loving, caring, and who was always there for them.
When the parent who remains does something that feels like a betrayal, it can feel like that much more of a betrayal. every little pretty slight they do towards you feels magnified because they are the one who you have left, and not [other parent]
This can be added to by rose coloured retrospective believing that the one who you miss wouldn't hurt you like the remaining parent did.
(Picture Marc thinking "WTF, Mom would NEVER eat my french fries! Why is she gone and YOU'RE HERE!" and you start to get the picture)
For kids who lose a parent young this kind of reaction can become ingrained as a method with which they interact with the remaining parent, meaning they forever feel slighted more easily, and Marceline is almost definitively lost her mother during childhood. (She survived as an old wrinkly lady to 1000, no matter how fast/slow she ages as a vampire, she definitely ages was slower than humans even prior to that. Her mother actually could have died of natural causes while Marc was still a child if Marc ages slowly enough.)
So, I know for someone who has never lost anyone maybe this kind of seems bananas. I hear you, but grief really does make you feel bananas, sometimes for a very long time after the loss.
Also I should tell you, I speak from experience.
I lost a parent, (and I'm an adult btw, if I was a child living with either parent at the time I think it'd be worse.)
The parent I have left did petty things while the wound was fresh (and Marecline ages slowly, so I can't help but feel she'd mature slowly emotionally too, and that means having emotional wounds heal slower too), and my emotional response was definitely disproportionate to what they'd done.
Because grief over someone you loved who loved you, really fking f-cks with you.

i think what you said is kinda obvious.i think the only parts you were wrong was about marceline shape shifing, immortality and healing...she's not immortal because she's a vampire, she's immortal because she absorbed the soul of that specific vampire that's immortal. Same goes for her shapeshifting and healing. Basically her ONLY original power was to absorb souls and take their abilities. On a side note, the writers of adventure time make stuff up as they go along so i don't even bother theorising anymore. There are many radical theories out there like about how susan strong could be finns mom or how betty could be princess bubblegum which would explain why he likes her so much but that was disproven because there are photos of PB as a child in the castle as well as her having a brother and what not. Anyway for me season 6 kinda jummped the shark with the whole ogerlorg thing..i was very dissapointed especially after they heavily implid that gunter used to be some weird small talking dinosaur thing in that "Dream" ice king had. Then they also use reencarnation too much so there's no real consistency. Like how shoko (the chick with no arm) was reincarnated as finn.

marcy is a hybrid and ice king at the moment becoming less and less human.... the mushroom war most-likely killed almost all the humans, which is why marcy's mom is gone, her father having to stay in the nightoshere probably did not realize what had happened considering the family was split up, leaving marcy to be on her own till ice king came

I think that Marceline and her mom survived the Mushroom war because as seen in the background when Marcy flashbacks to a memory with her mother that their house is a wreck (or maybe they just lived like that?) but they also seem to live in a dessert or beach which may be because they were hiding from something? Maybe Hudson Abedeer protected them and took them in to the Nightosphere while the explosion happened, therefore led them to survive. Afterwards while her mother was protecting her she may have died because of those green globs/zombies? killed her and Marceline was left to survive by herself and Simon took her in and the rest is history
