UBC researchers investigate new population of killer whales

  • A group of 49 orcas has been observed hunting sperm whales in the open ocean off the coast of California and Oregon. Researchers from the University of B.C. say this population is new to them and could belong to a subpopulation of transient killer whales or could be a unique population.

      Sharks might be on the menu, but these are not the shark specific orcas of South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.

      ​@@neotek8582Theres also documented and even recorded orca killing great whites as far back as 1997 of the coast of California. You can find the 1997 video recording of a killer whale killing a great white of the coast of California. Theres more than one pod of orcas that hunt sharks. New Zealand, south Africa and California
