- Teaching this old toy new tricks with www.ez-robot.com by converting it into a robot. Added the EZ-B v4 robot controller, a bunch of servos and a lot of hot glue! He's coming along nicely... Needs a few more tweaks. We're already friends :)

Thanks! The toy was from eBay for around $60. The EZ-B v4 Developer kit and servos came to about $200.

Hey it was a long time ago but I watched a review were someone said the servos didn't work when they got the dev kit is this still the case?
+Harry Dallimore Sure doesn't sound like ez-robot. Must be another company. Our customer support is pretty amazing - and the servo quality is far above par. The servos are designed for 7.4v with entire metal gears and metal bearings - We ship hundreds of thousands of servos a year with the dev kit and revolution robots. If someone had an issue, it would be resolved immediately :)

Can the servos be programmed to different speeds? IE: When an AT-AT walks its front leg steps forward quickly, but then slowly moves backwards over the amount of time it takes the other 3 legs to step before the sequence is repeated. Does that make any sense?!
+chrisjhart221138 Sure can - it's a little simpler than that, even.Each movement is a separate frame, like a flip book. And they are merely linked together. I didn't spend a lot of time making him walk - guess excitement had the best of me! Can you blame me? :)
Maybe this is a good incentive to play with him some more and fix his walking.
+DJ Sures (EZ-Robot) The only issue you will run into is that this walker has no hip joints. If you look at the filming model the hips raise to allow the model to take a step.
I have used pololu mini maestro in the past, but found speed changes to be a real pain in the arse unless you are good at coding. This amazing build may make me have a stab at it!
+chrisjhart221138 Yeah - those speed changes on other controllers to make GAIT was such a pain in the butt! That's why i had the Auto Position created - man, it's such a life saver. You're right about the hip joints, to move outward - I did modify the feet to have a stronger bracket with less play. It does make a significant difference. Hopefully i will get a video of me making it online soon, need to find some time for that :D
I might buy an EZ-robot kit to try some of this out. Is the auto position part of the software? I apologise for asking so many questions but I have a design which will work but I get frustrated at my complete lack of programming skill. Thanks!

Hi! All ez-robot kits use speech control and mobile apps, etc... I used the ez-robot developer kit and a toy ATAT from ebay. It did take me about a day or so to make it, but it's sure a lot of fun.

Please make a tutorial of the revolution six because on my computer to won't work and it keeps saying new download availed and when I try to download it downloads but then says new download a availed but I just won't work
