- In this video I breakdown Chad “OchoCinco” Johnson and his route running ability. He is the GOAT of route running and should be a Hall of Famer. The way he is able to release off the line and create separation with his routes is what we will be breaking down today. I hope you enjoy!

They don't pay me for my hands, they pay me for my feet- Ochocinco
Denzel Marbley one of the most confident players and it shows
Oh yeah , natural catcher of the ball .
Strength was speed in and out of breaks , body control to get best hand position to make the grab
Breathe brotha breathe 😂😂
Brandon 98 gonna be honest with you, allergy season has been killing me
Please never stop doing what you’re doing . When I make it I’m shouting you out
I appreciate that bro, won’t stop ever
Best route runner ever in the NFL and a very very underrated receiver
I agree, he’s up there with Marvin Harrison for me
That was a great breakdown to a great receiver I love it
Fitz Nimley appreciate that man! Glad it gave you some value 💯
i appreciate all your videos 😂 they give me ideas right before the game .
Glad they help you bro!
I've been looking for Chad Johnson film
Yessir hope this have you some value
He's better than all the 2022 HoF semi finalists at WR!
For some reason the HoF is voted on by people who don't play football, and they don't like that he had fun and celebrated when it wasn't legal. Bc he was a great teammate by all accounts and worked crazy hard. Sleeping at the stadium for 2 years, taking reps with the scout team to go against the ones, etc.
really great work, glad I found this
Appreciate you man glad this gave you some value
This was a very dope breakdown! 💯💯🎯🎯
Appreciate you sir, thank you very much for the support!
As a Bronco fan, I remember watching 85 torch Champ Bailey. I was shocked caus he is the best corner ever IMO, an never seen him get beat that much.
Imagine if he had played in Pittsburgh instead of Cincinnati. First 2000 yard season. And the second and the third. He was as uncoverable as AB but had more height and breakaway speed. Wasted in Cinci.
Agreed!
AB’s career was wasted in Pittsburg smh. Should’ve played for a championship. Wasted years.
@@CrabtreeCody true. But he got a ring 🙏
@@CrabtreeCody terrible take
I adore this video!! I've been praising Ocho's route running skills for years! I watched him all throughout highschool.. All my classmates would go back to school and talk about his celebrations. I would go back to school and talk about the routes he ran on Sunday. He's my 2nd favorite WR of all time, and in my opinion the greatest route runner of all time... Thanks for this video man
Of course man! Glad this video gave you some value
Who your number one just curious
@@maurice5354 TO is my #1 receiver of all time. He's my favorite football player of all time regardless of position.. He was my childhood... Him and Ocho lol
@@maurice5354 And just to clarify, I don't think Ocho is #2 all time... Just #2 on my FAVORITES list of all time... TO is #1 Regardless. On any of my list
@OEazy45 I was just curious I thought you would be TO guy too and I was right TO my all time favorite as well
im coming back to this video and i just realised you said ocho cinco is a hall of fame receiver. i completely agree and i don't know why anyone would say otherwise. I hope he gets in it but people like to hate.
Kam Ka-Ne I think he definitely will, can’t keep that guy out
Great video with lots of insight
Appreciate that man! Glad it gave you some value
Terry McLaurin was a polished route runner coming out of Ohio St.. Last year he saw every teams #1 corner and absolutely dominated as a rookie. His first step & precision cuts allow him to use his elite 4.3 speed in the most efficient way possible. His contested catch rate is also off the charts. Love this video, playing WR is far more about what you do before the ball is thrown. All too many times we get lost in size and speed at receiver, that couldn’t be farther from the truth!
Yessir 100% agree. Appreciate the comment
9:53 if ochocinco even miss times that cut by a second too late hes running into the DB. And if he cuts too early hes not going to allow time for the DB to react to the post and his cut would have been pointless. Timing is everything
Kam Ka-Ne 100%!
Love your videos
Louis Banks thank you man really appreciate it! Glad they give you value
Chad genius of set up , and he baits DB to try get him to try jam ; that put out position to run or run with cut .
Watch him turn his eyes , NOT snapping his head ( would blur vision ) impede ability to track the spin / trajectory of the 🏈
Damn hof player
The 🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐
If you watch his hands, he is "beating the drum" that's what's helping him get down and come to a stop. Then he's pivoting his hips and getting around
Hands down Chad "Always Open" Johnson is the best route runner of all time
definitely in my top 3
Agree
I think you should do a video on Torry Holt he was a great route runner as well
Tasheed Service agred! I need to get some film on him but that would be a great video. Appreciate the feedback 🙏
True… tory holt and Marvin Harrison - also … I left them out
I’d say the beat the drum comeback method works against zone and the two step turn around heere by Chad is better against man
With this video, you already made a video going over the best route runner of all time.
💯💯💯
Hey like the video. Literally before this just got done watching Ocho vs Bailey, Revis, Hall, and Flowers. One of the beat receivers of all time and a really good route runner but don’t think you can call him a great one. Was literally just having this discussion at work the other day. First off his route running is predicated on speed which if you go watch all those matchups that I just said and even this video you can clearly see that. The last two routes, the corner and the out route, which is what they were, were the best routes. Wasn’t a post corner and definitely not a comeback route, it’s just the way he stemmed and set up. But when you watch him run routes his set ups, stemming, and moves aren’t predominantly like those. His main objective when running routes are to do them as fast/quick as possible, because he was fast. Even the out route seemed he was going more so go speed on it, just a great release. His feet and release are probably top 2 but the route running itself isn’t defined enough or exaggerated enough more about him getting a great release and being speedy to beat you to the points verses new school receivers were route running is the main thing like Odell, Jarvis, Keenan Allen, Julio, AB, Diggs, Emanuel sanders, etc. the separation they’re getting is mostly from the route running itself and not the speed of which they do it or the release even though it’s all tied into route running. Even Devonte Adams when you look at his routes he’s open 90% of the time off of his releases. Hopefully that’s another way of looking at it.
Best route runners of All-time : 1.Jerry Rice, 2. Marvin Harrison, 3. (Tied) Isaac Bruce/Torry Holt 4. Chad Johnson, 5. Terrell Owens 6. Michael Irving 7. Randy Moss , 8. Andre Reed (I think...). Please do a break down on the best of All-time JERRY RICE: The San Francisco treat...LOL!!
Artistry in motion

Tyreek hill
Best football player on earth !!!
Put the whole route in your videos
Old video I do that now thanks for the feedback
Love the video but u kinda over explain a bit. Also the first two isn't really a example of route running as much as it is an example of beating the press. Similar but not quite the same
Thanks man
Glad the video gave you some value and I appreciate the criticism
Ummm...getting off the line and beating the press, IS route running
Julio Jones
Chad would've been even better on another team he deff is the most under rated receiver ever playing for the Bengals trash team in his prime stunted his hof imagine if Brady , Peyton, Bret , elway, had him in his prime probably Jerry rice numbers
Without a doubt!
Stevie Johnson best footwork then chad
Can definitely see that
No.
Jerry rice I think is the best route runner
Could 100% be him or Marvin Harrison
Proverbs 15:3
The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.
Stevie Johnson ran better routes
