Thank you for this. I did not know that some university do not consider BTECs. I did BTEC as that was the only option available in the Colege if you don’t have any qualifications. I did both BTEC Level 2 in Engineering and Science. I always wondered what the the difference between BTEC Science to the GCSE Sciences. With this advice I will try to find a college to do GCSE sciences alongside Maths and English.
BTEC is a more practical approach to learning, but generally valued less by the higher ranking universities.
Hi! Was wondering if I could get some advice, my school only offers Chemistry and Design, I am good at both but my passion is design as I want to be an architect. Do you think it is more important to have triple science or follow design and technology, thanks!
Hmm, you need a portfolio for Architecture ideally. I would say triple science would help, but you maybe also design alongside it? If not do design work individually building out a portfolio [any sort of artwork - doesn't have to be architecture]
HI usman. My first language is Arabic and I speak 2 other languages (Swedish and English) I came to the uk in the end of year 8 and I started learn French, but I didn't focus a lot on it because I wanted to learn more English as a beginner. I'm in year 9 now and I started getting some for French so I really want to take it as a gcse subject especially that many universities are more likely to accept someone who speaks 4 languages. My family is telling me to take Arabic instead so I can focus on other subjects such as psychology and triple science etc. I don't know what to do at all I really want to take French as goes and then take Arabic in a level but my family is quite right so what should I do?
Quality over Quantity.
You want to aim to get grades 8-9s in your subject. So the question is how close do you think you will be without french in all your subjects for 8-9s. If you will be very far away, I would ignore French and focus on the other subjects. But ofcourse if you can do well on all including french then do it.
My school wants me to pick geo or history than french or Spanish than a subject of ur choice than a choice of 2 btecs religious studies statistics pe and triple science. I was just wondering what io should do for the final option as Im thinking of doing geo french computer science but than don't know what to do for the final selection.

Rule number 1 is just get started. Anything. Even if it is a lemonade stand. If you are asking for what you think are the best entrepreneurial skills to develop long term then that’s a whole different conversation?
my school only allows 2 subjects but you have to pick history or geography which does not count in those 2 options

im in year 9 about to pick my options for GCSE, my school are saying that I do combined science and they make it sound final, but i think im capable of doing triple science, could you give me advice on wwhat to do
Hi Nahom,
Definitely not final.
I would push hard for triple science now, as it would give you added support from the classes in school. If the school end up not entering you for triple science now, I would study it independently using the specification. Then have discussion with your school in year 10 and year 11 (Telling them... hey I have learnt all of this content myself, please change me over to triple science). The final entry can be changed literally few days before the actual exams in year 11. I have done this for some of my students before.

I usually get 6s in my science test and school suggested me to take combined instead of triple science. Please advice should i stick to combined or request them to consider me as triple science student
Hello Usman. My school only offers a 3 choices that is not compulsory or a language. I want to do geography, history, PE and comp science but I need to drop one. I want to get into politics A level and I want PE as a break subject, almost as 'fun' time. I excel in geography, often getting above 90% and same goes with comp science. Which should I drop and why?
You will still do PE even if you don’t Take it as a GCSE, it is compulsory for you to do physical activity in schools (usually).
Go with the other 3, they will give you better base for where you want to go as a future subject. Also look into PPE courses at Oxford… this is what all the big dogs go to study before going into British politics.

Hello Usman, Please reply to this if you see it. I watched one of your videos on how to get a Grade 9, And you mentioned using OLD SPEC papers as there are not enough new ones and i agree. But the problem is i have no idea where to look. I tried but failed, So i hope you can help me. And also is there OLD SPEC papers only for subjects like Maths & Science? Or is there also OLD SPEC papers for other subjects like business,geography etc. If yes can you let me know. Hi can you help me how can I convince to provide triple science as my son is moving from one grammar school where he was recommended by teachers to do triple science but the new school in year 9 is not providing the option
Hi 👋,
If the school doesn’t offer it, you can’t do much about it.
So the course of action I recommend is that your son studies triple science content independently and then asks to get entered for the triple science exam closer to the exam (Jan/Feb exam year).
Hello...I was wondering if it would impact me if i didn't pick triple science for studying PPE at Oxford: my subjects are Math, Further maths, Chemistry, Computer Science, English literature, English language, Business, Spanish, Art ,Higher project qualification. Would it ruin my chances? Thank you xx
Yes, it would hurt your chances. If they know your school offers it. (Unofficially though)
Check if business is BTeC or GCSE, don’t do BTEC for PPE
What if you don’t like triple science and think your going to be bad at it should you still do triple science?
What is your end goal? What do you want to do in the future? In general the answer to the question is yes you should still look to do it and improve [Talent is a myth], but depends on your individual goals.

Maths, Bio, Chem, Physics, Lang, Lit, Urdu, Art, Graphics, RE.
What are good A level subjects

Hello my school only has double science and I want to become a surgeon what should I do?
What year are you in?
If your school doesn't offer it is fine to do double science, but triple gives you a broader base for alevel sciences. You will definitely need these sciences at Alevel to become a surgeon.
So depending on which year I might advise something different.
I really don't know what to do i am stuck picking in between Dt and engineering and It and computer science, although i feel like i will be bad at engineering and computer science i want to do them because they seem better
Computer science > IT. Computer Science over IT all day. Yes it is harder, but a lot more useful. If you only take the easy options in life you will never get far. We can always become better at things with practice.
DT & Engineering, they are both very similar. Pick what you enjoy (assuming they are both GCSE's and not BTEC).
P.S - The above advice is based on the assumption you are looking to get into competitive courses in the future.
@@Ucademy Hey, thank you so much for replying. At my school IT and engineering are BTEC (is that bad?) and also i already know 2 languages fluently but my school wants me to take French too, would it be useful in any way?
@@ruxandraisabelapapuc8591 They aren't "bad", just be aware that top universities don't value them as much as GCSE as they are considered slightly easier. If the aim is to go to the best courses, then you should ideally avoid BTEC.
What languages are you fluent in? It would be useful if GCSEs for those languages exist.

You need to work on building your foundations using the spec, A-Z. Work on it outside of school, and at the same time have a conversation with the school on how you can switch over.
It is very much possible to change over at a later point in the year, but ideally if you can change earlier, it will allow you to also sit in the correct class. Treat School as a bonus anyway, because a top student needs to learn it independently.
If the school are still being weird you can always enter privately.

How can you start a business and how does taking business for GCSE help?
Don’t take business at GCSE. I suggested you should start your own business, not take it at GCSE.
It’s a whole different topic of how you can start your own business. Depends what are you areas of interest etc.

@@Noname-cp3zmi picked gcse business. best decision ever. its legit an easy 9 for me. imo u should pick gcses to maximise ur grade average more than anything as that is so much more useful to get into sixth form and some unis, and they dont rlly care what u picked. but yeah with business its mainly common sense, and some knowledge, i dont even revise business other than morning before exams lol. currently year 11 btw and ye with mocks i just did morning before. baso its the easiest gcse to exist so its an easy pick imo.
@@Noname-cp3zmhowever it wont actually help in any way for you to start a business. im saying pick it for an easy high grade. if u want to learn to start a business. school is not the right place.

What do you mean by triple science
It is a Separate science option available. You get 3 GCSEs.
The alternative is combined trilogy where you get 2 GCSEs.
Note in both you still study Bio, Chem, Physics. Just one has more content.
Im in year11 ive been begging my school for triple science since last year but they never gave me it
Ok begging alone isn't enough and will not really lead to a better outcome. What set are you in your school? What evidence have you shown them to change? What preparation have you done? You can drop me a private message/email if you want to give more detailed response.
I am in set 1 and I get 6s or above in most of tests
@@JS-zm4lw So you need to be able to prove to them that you will score well in the 3 sciences, for that you need to be scoring much higher than 6s. So step 1 is sorting out your grades. Not much point doing triple if you going to score 6s. You have until early feb to change their minds (when they officially enter you for exams). Have a look at some of the other videos on how to get grades 9 in the subjects on the channel. You can do it!
I might not be able to catch up with all the extra modules and topics there are in triple before the exams.
@@JS-zm4lw That is a mindset shift you require. There are two types of pain in this world. The pain of discipline or the pain of regret. Are you willing to pay the price now of putting in the hard yards so you can reap the reward later?
I have seen plenty of students turn it around with lower grades then you in this time and get entered for triple science and do well. There is only 1 or so additional module per science. Not a huge amount more to do tbh.
