    Good video 👍 Do you use the FZ6 repair manual or where do you have all those infos from ?

      I found a Yamaha service manual online by googling around. I'll see if I can find the link for you.

    Awesome video as always! I have a suggestion for a future video. "How to polish your exhaust headers on an FZ6". :p
    On an unrelated note though, have you ever considered installing a steering damper on your FZ6? I was considering doing that for mine. When you're really romping on it the front end gets a little light at high speed and you can feel a little bit of side to side movement. It doesn't do it to an extreme level or a level where I think it's unsafe, but it would give me more confidence if I had one installed. It looks like Öhlins used to make one for the FZ6, but they're a little hard to find and cost about $500 USD. You can get a cheap universal one on ebay, but they look a bit janky. So I guess for the time being I'll just live with it.

      Oh ya I plan on polishing the pipes soon! Thanks for the idea. I have considered a steering damper but I've been turned away from it due to the price of kits like the Ohlins kit that seem like they are actually meant for the FZ6 S2. I also haven't had a tank slapper or experienced steering wobble on hard acceleration so I haven't felt the need to get one with the kind of riding I do. If I was gonna attend a track day I think I would consider it more seriously.

    Can You add video how to buy Fz6 s2 and what to pay attention to when buying?

  • @antoniocarlosbatista1934

    I have a 2006 fz6, it is showing error 19, indicating failure of the side rest pedal, I have already performed the test, the sensor is ok, even so error 19 appears and the bike does not start.
    do you know how i can is solving this problem?

  • @Tempo9
    @Tempo9 Před rokem +1

    does this sensor measure rotation and together with the speed sensor display the speed on the board?

    • @Calvinm
      @Calvinm  Před rokem

      No, the bike has a speed sensor that measures the output speed of the transmission.

    Hey Calvin, I’m dealing with an issue i have with my 06 FZ6 I just picked up. I’m consistently blowing ignition fuses and it seems like it only happens on deceleration. I’ve replaced the r/r, the stator tested good, battery is good and brand new. I just can’t seem to figure it out

    • @Calvinm
      @Calvinm  Před 5 měsíci

      Hmmm that’s odd. I suspect the coils need replacing. I would also check spark plug gap, or replace the plugs. Also maybe check for a loose ground wire. There is a ground wire on top of the transmission. I would also measure the crank position sensor to rule that out for certain. That’s an odd problem you have, if none of my suggestions fix it I would try measuring the voltage and current going through the ignition fuse with a multimeter with the bike on a centre stand and free revving. I don’t think the main or ignition relay would cause an over current condition but it’s worth considering. Best of luck!

      @@Calvinm I’ve since replaced the ECU that had a giant crack in it, and I’m going to be replacing the whole wiring harness pretty soon as well. My clutch cable snapped so sadly I don’t really get to see if the ECU is going to fix this but I’ll look into the coils like you said. Thanks!

    • @banstack2869
      @banstack2869 Před 4 měsíci

      @@Calvinm so I’ve tested the voltage across the fuse while free revving and it’s a pretty consistent 17.5 +/- 0.6 every so often. How would I test the coils or do you already have a video on this?

      Sorry to comment on a older video but what do you think happened to me , I changed my spark plugs and now the bike runs on 2 cylinders and backfires then stalls ? It was fine and ran perfectly before the plug change.

    My third cylinder is not firing at all. I don’t know if it could be a faulty ignition coil or just a spark plug. Where would I buy a new set of coils if it is them. I want a quality site with good shipping. It’s hard to find parts for this bike

    • @Calvinm
      @Calvinm  Před 3 lety +1

      Megazip.net and partsfish.com are good websites for getting genuine parts in new condition. Megazip.net ships from three different warehousing from different countries so they may have a shipping option that works for you. I think partsfish.com is located in the USA. I have ordered from both and gotten good parts from both.

    Would you suggest buying a bike that needs the coil pack, I’m not a mechanic and it seems like to much work for someone that doesn’t have the right tools. Is it expensive to fix?

    • @Calvinm
      @Calvinm  Před 3 lety

      A coil pack isn’t a particularly hard job. It means lifting the tank (or taking it off) taking out the battery, battery case, and rubber weather protectant. You don’t need many tools, just a 5mm Allen, 10mm wrench, and a screw driver. I’m not sure how much a shop would charge. The problem with this bike you’re looking at though might not just be a coil pack. People love to sell vehicles claiming its an easy fix when in actuality they have no idea or they know it’s a bigger problem than that... So do everything you can to ensure it’s just a coil pack. Best of luck!

    • @Calvinm

      Under the tank is common as well as under the seat. I could have the tank up in 2 minutes so I wouldn’t say it’s that bad of a spot 🤷‍♂️ haha
