The pre-trial prison Urso Branco is one of the worst jail in all of Brazil. Riots have been taking place here almost every year since 2002. Gangs battling for control of the drug business are also fighting it out behind bars. They use every opportunity to eliminate rival gang members. In the past 20 years, more than 100 people have died in riots behind the walls of Urso Branco. A sad record for Brazil.
The situation in Urso Branco remains a powder keg, despite the government tightening security in recent years. Sanitary conditions are catastrophic; cells are desperately overcrowded. The guards are heavily armed and always carry loaded weapons. Each rifle's barrel contains special anti-riot ammunition made of rubber. The other cartridges are live ammunition. This is the only way they can keep the situation under control. Even though the guards face the constant risk of attack. To this place, the twenty-eight-year-old Naum is being brought, having been arrested by the police when trying to rob a bar.
In Urso Branco, he has to wait for the decision from the judge. The decision is if he will stay in jail for the next 15 years or if he will see his family again. Naum shares the cell with 19 other inmates - 19 men who are in custody here for robbery, murder, rape and drug trafficking.
Inside is cramped, the sanitary facilities are catastrophic. As the new guy, Naum is at the bottom of the pecking order. The worst part is the situation behind bars can escalate at any time.

As someone who's never seen the Prison gate before, I feel terrified of Prison. The thing is, just stay away from crimes, you'll be prison free your entire life!

Plenty of innocent people are locked up and then released a number of years later, "oops!" They were innocent all along, and they've spent their whole life incarcerated. So it's not always that simple.
Usually, but not always. It’s important to know and understand your rights as well. And to actually exercise them. Don’t be intimidated into talking to cops without a lawyer. Plenty of guys have gotten jammed up on false charges. I would say the more fool proof method is “Just don’t be poor, and you’ll be prison free your entire life!”
@@PaulaJones-zu8jx they still associated themselves with a certain lifestyle. I do agree that there are tons of crooked cops (most are bad) but many of the innocent people aren't spring chickens themselves.

Commits crime, finds God in one day, hates the food, people and regrets everything. He banked on robbing an illegal because he figures he would not testify and now he is whining about missing his daughters birth........... To bad, so sad, 15 yrs.

Sometimes you make a mistake and don’t consider the consequences of the mistake until after you’ve made it. If you haven’t done that, and you are not human. To be human is to sin.
I'm going to keep this as respectfully as possible you seem to be speaking for a position of privilege never having to struggle as hard. You never know what you'll do when put in a position where you can almost never win without turning to some kind of crime. So rather than passing judgement online at someone whose sitting in one poorest slums in the world go out and feed a local homeless person and change it so maybe there's one less person out here trying to steal there next meal . Often liquor is cheaper than food.. with 3$ you can get a decent enough amount of liquor to put you to sleep on a cold night and ensure you make it because eating cause the body temperature to rise making hypothermia a greater risk . You have no idea what it's like to not have .

When you do bad stuffs and commit crimes you didn't think about your daughter... only after ur put in prison you think of dem...dat is why it is told never wait for time change before something happens to you..

Yup. The only empathy they ever feel is for themselves. The first guy crying like a lil b**ch reminded me of that illegal migrant guy from Venezuela on YT who was talking about getting all this money from the gov’t, and squatting in people’s homes, calling his baby his “meal ticket,” only to end up blubbering like a baby himself, when he got arrested and threatened with deportation. Everybody’s a stone cold gangster until those consequences hit.
