- Ever wonder what it's like in the cockpit of an EA-18G Growler? Watch to find out!
This week on Exercise Pitch Black 2022 we’ve been conducting dissimilar air combat training drills with international forces, like the Indian Air Force Sukhoi Su-30MKI and our Growler electronic attack aircraft operated by No. 6 Squadron. The Growler is capable of disrupting, deceiving or denying a broad range of military electronic systems, including radars and communications.
Exercise Pitch Black features a range of realistic, simulated threats which can be found in a modern battle-space environment and is an opportunity to test and improve our force integration, utilising one of the largest training airspace areas in the world.
We're working with our multinational partners to build our collective capability and enhance regional security.

For those rubbishing Russian Flankers-16 years ago IAF achieved a 9:1 kill ratio against USAF F-16s during the Cope India 2004 exercise, it was also reached thanks to their skills as USAF Colonel Greg Newbech said: “What we’ve seen in the last two weeks is the IAF can stand toe-to-toe with the best air force in the world. I pity the pilot who has to face the IAF and chances the day to underestimate him; because he won’t be going home.
There were also F15s on the USAF and Mig 21s on the IAF side in that exercise.
@@off_grid_javelin that was a different exercise, and in the exercise IAF sent its best pilots as well as a mix of planes like Su-30, Mirage 2000, Migs etc while the US only sent 4 F-15s and average pilots for this exercise
@@F22raptor46 That exercise was Cope India 2004 or 2005. Yanks initially thought IAF to be like Iraq, Iran Airforce but they were surprised by skills of IAF pilots.. Now US India relation has improved and bilateral military exercise happens everyear..
Bruh those Russian flankers' most critical components are Israeli and the standards upgraded to meet IAF requirements plus made in india since India has the licence. Ain't no way Russia makes those quality products as the MKI variant. They do have the MKM but that still lacks several advanced components.
The deadly part is when India combines Russian super - maneuverability with best western avionics, radar and electronic warfare suite. It becomes a deadly weapon in the hands of a skilled pilot.
@@darkodonnie2729 it's not an excuse it's what happened. Look at Cope India 2004. Also US F-15s were handicapped, similar to Su-30MKIs in Red Flag 2008 where they also performed poorly. There also you had average Indian pilots flying Su-30s which were handicapped also. So it's normal

Regarding all of the dogfighting comments, as I understand it Pitch Black is about training to work cohesively alongside different aircraft from different allies (‘interoperability’ and ‘integration training’). The presence of Su-30MKI aircraft is really cool (and potentially quite relevant given the situation in Ukraine).
I think this is Su 30 Mki , USSR & india will be proud for this
I find no other jet's dynamic more appealing to eyes than a flanker in tipnis grey.
Looks like the RAAF EA-18G Growler is accompanied by an Indian AF SU-30 Flanker. Simulated SEAD, DEAD training mission? No weapons stores on either A/C so prolly just a publicity video. Cool though.

It got world's longest and fastest air to groud supersonic cruise missile=brahmos with 300+km range (800+km in future)
It got anti radiation missile Rudram with 200+km (350+ in future).
So that's sufficient for any type of SEAD mission.
+ A wide range of guided and unguided bombs like gaurav, gautam SAAW, Spike etc. With range from 30 to 100+ km.

look at 0:05 In the seconds that the Growler pilot tries to get a visual on his opponent , the Flanker quickly looses airspeed (thrust vectoring) and places itself in a commanding position on the Growler's six....Growler can only dream of beating Flanker in close combat, for starters it’s G restricted then carrying chubby pods on wingtips. Only plus here is AIM-9X which is far superior than R-73E. Great footage neck massage is in order.

Growler doesn't actually have any air to air weapons at all as it's not a fighter to begin with, it's only an electronic warfare plane. Second in this video you just see the Su-30 fly past him in the merge and that's it, you don't see anything else, and they don't show anymore details so we really don't know who won

1. Airframe is old af
2.U cannot upgrade or install safety system etc coz of non modular airframe (and its age)
3. Regardless of how much u upgrade , u can upgrade so much on such a old platform and it will always be less capable than a modern day fighter (its basically at its peak on mig21 bison)
4. On that day when the mig21 bison intercepted f16 , it was the pilot's skill and the upgrades on that aircraft is what saved the day but yeah as i said it doesnt mean mig21 bison is enough

Some people are making fun of SU30 being old , 1st fligth of SU30 was in 31 December 1989 and that of FA18 was in 18 November 1978 technically FA18 is much older (I'm talking about the base models not the EW one) and idk why a electronic warfare fighter is in with flanker i guess if FA18 Super Hornet was used its going to be fair competition. Just remember hornet and superhornet is different hornet is old but the superhornet is new no matter old the aircraft js is still good a p51 can still outturn 5th gen jet in a dogfight but can be easily outrun

As obvio EA18G will have some benefits over SU30 . Yes the scenario can be different .

@@Think.twi.e The Su-30mkis are very different from their Russian versions. They are enhanced with Israeli and Indian systems to help them with SEAD missions and bvr dogfights. It may not be as good as that of the Growler, but it is up there.

The EA-18G is not a dog fighter. It's an EW (electronic warfare) aircraft designed to suppress enemy air defences (SEAD) so his mate in the IAF SU-30 can destroy enemy air defences (DEAD).
