I used to box for several years when I was a teenager. We were kinda dumb and didn't think about our health so we would spare very aggressively 5 times a week for years. Sometimes when I was going home after a training session I would see flashes and lights while blinking or closing my eyes. I can tell that my memory isn't as good as it used to be, and I'm only in my twenties. Back in the days I would memorize entire paragraphs after reading them once. School was really easy for me, I was the best student of my class. I'm still not a dumb guy, but I definitely can tell that it takes much more effort for me to study and memorize things.

I'm really happy after reading some of these comments. It seems a lot of people realize how dangerous contact sports are; in this case: Boxing.
A lot of commenters tell their own stories about boxing for a while and experiencing neurological issues.
I always wondered how people could support boxing now that we know very well the damage it can do.
For some young people, it might be the only way out of a bad upbringing, so we have to be mindful of that.
However, is it worth it? The majority of anyone, in any sport, never make it 'big'. Should they even start fighting?
Maybe we should take the resources spent on training young fighters, and help young people living in bad conditions. Help educate them and keep them out of gangs and away from violence...?
Take a look and listen at almost any boxer whose name you recognize. Listen to them speak; it seems like they all mumble to some extent. Many of them sound like they do have brain damage.
It's really sad. Even one concussion can affect you permanently. Imagine getting pounded in the head for years on end (as a boxer.) Our bodies simply can't handle it without negative fallout. 🫣🤔
