Tomorrow Never Dies Restored Deleted Scenes - Briefing Scene

- The second of my restorations of deleted scenes from Tomorrow Never Dies, allowing them to be seen in the full context of how they could have been integrated into the final cut of the film. This scene features the briefing scene between Bond, M and Robinson which was largely cut down and rearranged in the final edit of the film. This original sequence supplies some interesting classic Fleming-esque background on villain Elliot Carver. The scene is supplied on home media as a raw cut, so here I've recut and reassembled it into a more logical sequence using some shots from the final cut of the film.
The sound design of both scenes has been rebuilt from the ground up (including dialogue pitch correction), and I've visually cleaned up and colour corrected the deleted scenes as best I can to match the surrounding footage. There's only so much that can be done, however, as these clips have only ever been released in abysmal quality, sadly, even on the Blu-Ray. It would be nice to finally get some high-quality versions of these someday! - Zábava
Reading the books, I've actually come to enjoy all the extra exposition, ESPECIALLY the villain's backstory. Wish they kept in just a tad more
We now present to you: a deleted scene from Tomorrow Never Dies. Starring: the bumpiest road in London.
I noticed that too... and Rolls have much better suspension than that.
The Brotherhood of MI6 is fantastic 😂❤ M is the stern/sarcastic Mother. Bond is the handsome troublemaker. Moneypenny is the nosy Sister & Charles is the level headed older brother
And Q is the annoyed dad.
@@lindildeev5721 Q is the weird uncle
And I guess Tanner’s the by-the-book cousin.
What a rather worryingly accurate analysis.
TMD doesn't get enough credit as a solid Bond film, but I'm definitely a fan
It was a British action film is what it was: taut, funny.
I recently rematched a bunch of the bond movies and TMD is easily a standout for the franchises and arguably the best of PB era.
@@BigHeadClan Where would you place TWINE, if I may be bold to ask?
This is brilliantly edited! Great work on restoring a fun scene to its originally intended form 🙌 But the outrageous bumpiness of that Daimler’s crap suspension is actually weirdly stressful and I found it so frustrating trying to watch all of the actors fail to put a glass anywhere near their faces in this speedy briefing 😂
Glad I'm not the only one bothered by that.
I find it kind of hilarious, could they not have stabilized the car in any way lmao
Bond likes his drink shaken, not stirred
@@rjruiter7193 hahaha eyyyy 😅
Perhaps they overdid the acting/bumping. I doubt this was filmed in a moving car.
2:13 homie’s lapel has a drink stain 😂
idk why, but the idea of M, Moneypenny, Robinson and Bond speeding around London in the back of a limo struggling to drink is fucking hilarious.
2:20 "remind her....then pump her 4 information" hahaha gotta love M. Telling james bond 2 do anything necessary like sex 2 complete a mission
yet in the prior film (Goldeneye) she called him, and i quote "a misogynistic dinosaur from the dark ages"...just so we understand one another."
I feel motion sick just watching this!
Why this was chopped down i dont know. It adds so much context to the character and understanding.
It was probably chopped down because much of the information would either have been considered irrelevent to the story or could be communicated more efficiently elsewhere in the movie. I also think that the rather unweildy use of the whisky tumblers made the characters look uncharacteristically clumsy and uncomfortable. Note how Brosnan has to steady his glass as the car takes a corner at speed.
@@GusMcGuire not to mention the idea of 007 being in an official vehicle accompagnied by a motorcade is pretty ridiculous...
They also did that with a Moore movie I believe
best 007 actor
Yeah, it adds context. But I can see why they cut it out. Pierce definitely struggled to sip his scotch @0:29
😂😅 hilarious
This was a good re-edit, though I personally would've kept Pierce's ad-lib: "Smooth ride, M." at the end.
Even though Bill Tanner was still there I did like Robinson/Colin Salmon so anything that gives him more screen time is awesome.
This might have benefited from some additional exterior shots of the car to mask the edits. But I guess, what you have to work with.
Flashback of Logan Roy.
Nice!!! And interesting, but I can see why they cut it down.... and Rolls Royces have far better suspension than that.
0:02 its the Prince Regent!
As if it EVER MADE SENSE to delete ANY SCENE with Judi Dench in it, and while I didn't think he should play James Bond as suggested as he kept appearing, more Colin Salmon never hurt anything either. Judi Dench's M has more balls than 1/2 the men who played the character on top of it, sad she left and got replaced with castrated Ralph Fiennes (as if he couldn't nail the role with a good script, and he acted less weak in his pre-role for it in Skyfall). Anyways thanks for the restoration work, seeing more from this film both in the context of plot relevancy to today more than the 90's, and it being more well rounded with stuff they deleted makes really wish there was a director's cut. An extended edition of Quantum of Solace as well (not D-cut because the director was the reason it was too short and even seems like 10 minutes just go missing at some point).
This was deleted?
Felix was hot. They could have done so much more with that character. I would have enjoyed perhaps some homoeroticism between him and Bond. But that ship sailed, he was recast and killed off.
I always hated this token 'M'.
This could have been a fantastic film if they removed the romance part and the nuke.
I don't think the romance was particularly bad (there certainly have been worst romances in 007 films). The nuke also fit into the escalation Carver was going for and does make sense as way for General Chang to sieze power by wiping out the rest of the top brass.
@@trueblue6201 maybe- it’s the fact she an equal to bond in many ways. The bomb does escalate but he could have used the conflict to seize power. The subtleness is lost.
@@kb4903 Nobody does it better... lmao
@@kb4903 yeah i think this was the first bond film where they started having women who supposedly match his abilities. The halle berry character is the worst example of this
