I'm a Ghanaian and madly in love with the Nigerian national anthem. The words are heavenly, the rhythm has some anointing. GOOSEBUMPS all over me everytime I listen. My favourite line: "To serve with heart and might. One nation bound in freedom, peace and unity". AWWW! Beautiful piece. Some of the great friends I've had are Nigerians. GOD bless Nigeria.

Great choice of artistes, even though I’m only just seeing this Rema guy. 1:10 That solo freestyle he did kinda threw me off at the beginning, wasn’t expecting a full switch of music genre. Was hard to flow with at the beginning without the full instrumental that I actually thought it was going to be a flop, but it turned out well when the full instrumental and chorus began.

Just HUMAN!! You mean she doesn’t vocalise a lot in her songs? Our top Afropop artistes somehow do not do a lot of vocalising in their songs. In short, most of them lack vocal abilities. Although artistes like Flavour sometimes tries to include some belting in his songs, like in his “Power to Win”. They have a singing range of just two octaves at most for the ones that try.
I do believe some creative fellow can find a way to do an Afropop that requires some vocal techniques, but then that would require a lot of vocal training which I’m not sure they’re willing to undergo.

Just HUMAN!! Vocalists are people like Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Dimash, So Hyang, etc. Classical and Operatic Singers do a lot of vocalising too and many mainstream Pop Singers as well.
It’s not just doing raps or singing million dollar tracks. A vocalist is a singer who has achieved some highly level of vocal freedom often by virtue of vocal training.

Why? But why? Why would Cobhams be this good? Every time I think I've heard the best, he just blows my mind again and again and again. The Nigerian national anthem in Afro beat. How more original could this get? Plus the video directing was superb. Especially Tuface's wavy hand motions when Rema was singing the 'in freedom' part. That gave me goose bumps. The variations in musical styles as well as the vocal types kept the piece fresh, hot and sizzling till the very end.
At least, we all had one reason to smile on independence day.
