I can't even begin to comprehend how a sixteen year old can come up with those lyrics. 'Don't confront me with my failures. I have not forgotten them'. Phew. More like the words of a man at the end of his life than the start. Incidentally, this performance is beautiful and flawless.
Isn't it mad to think he wrote this at the ripe age of sixteen. Unbelievably brilliant. Love Jackson's music. It has carried me through some real tough times. Thank you, endlessly.
It's honestly nuts to think of a 16 year old coming up with the line, "Don't confront me with my failures, I had not forgotten them." That line cuts deep - every time I listen to this song it's like it pierces my soul and makes me wistful to think of all my past mistakes. It feels like it could only come from someone who's lived a life full of regrets, and yet he wrote it when he was just a teenager! Honestly, the only takeaway I have is that Jackson Browne is a masterful artist, and clearly he always has been.
it just now occurred to me, that whenever you're listening to Jackson, regardless of the venue or the song, it feels like he's talking directly to YOU. I mean, you are sitting there listening as he relates something happy, hopeful, melancholy or whatever, it's like he's talking directly to you. Jackson Brown is an eternally relevant singer/songwriter. I feel honored to have lived at the same time as he did.
I concur,a very astute commentary of one of our better songwriter/ poets of our time does not get the respect of Dylan but I think it's because he is born quote I feel good writer where is Dylan is he Debbie Downer but kind of in your face type of guy and Jackson Browne is laid back and just beautiful the way he composes his lyrics He's just a wonderful writer, I actually got here because I was listening to these days this game up on the radio and then I wanted to hear it live for some reason and I did he was at Austin limits and it would blew me away cuz he looks as old as I am and he sounds like a young man just some wonderful juxtaposition of actually how I'm feeling today I look old but I feel young. Thank you Jackson Browne You're a national treasure.
Jackson was a favorite of mine during my college years in the 70s, and now a favorite of my daughter as well. As a result we have attended three of his shows in the last 6 years together. Thank you Jackson...
I grew up around Jackson, and we graduated from high school together in 1966, and I can attest to the beauty and quality of what he was writing even back then. “These Days” is a classic example of that work. That song has carried me through some nasty shit over the last 50+ years. Not a bad piece of work from a kid who didn’t even shave yet !
Jackson's always been solid, ever since I was a kid listening to Steely Dan, Thin Lizzie, Aerosmith, ripping through the albums at the forum....... love you man....
We owe thanks to Tom Rush for championing Jackson Browne, Joni Mitchell and James Taylor by covering their songs before anyone heard of them. My intro to this song was Tom Rush. I loved the story
Just discocered the dramedy series " after life" this song was in one of the episodes and was it beautiful and so perfect for the main character and his life after the death of his wife. I cried a bit then caught myself and then cried a bit more..thank you jackson brown for the music and to the entire cast and crew of that beautiful ,wonderful movie about love ,happiness and hope.......
Everybody has been there. I was maybe 24 when For Everyman was released. In fact, the whole side one of For Everyman was for all of those who were at a time in their lives when these words and music said what you were feeling or had felt (unless Three Dog Night was you thing.) LOL
First concert of my life, in the 70"s, he was REMARKABLE and still is, I find myself saying to haters I come to face in my life...."Don't confront me with my FAILURES, I've not forgotten THEM!!!"
A heartfelt well written song and performance by an iconic singer songwriter....saw him live this year and it will be a memory I will hold on to for the rest of my life, he is one of the great ones
Hello 👋 claire How're you doing, it's been a long journey, and I'm nothing without amazing fans like you who appreciate my musical craftiness, All love to you and yours ❤️
I've loved JB' Singer/ Song writer amazing talents since the turbulent times of the 60's/70's. His talent is top[ shelf. I just wish he would not inject his politics into songs that have a profound message that have the potential to change (improve) peoples lives e. g. the cocaine rehab version. Don't get me wrong, I loved the original. It was such a "fine line" that was hard to let go. But Ronald and Nancy had nothing to do with our bad choices.
One of those rare compositions when music and lyrics come together perfectly to tell a touching personal story that we can all relate too. A true classic. Sad we don't have that any more. These days music has degenerated into a cesspool of irrelevant, irritating noise.
YOU TUBE "CUT THE ORIGINAL: "THESE DAYS" FOLLOWED BY R/E/". SO MANY " VIEWS. NOW IT LOOKS LIKE A " GHOST TOWN" WHAT AN INSULT TO A " SUPER STAR ICONIC TALENT"
The reverse of the Doe-Re-Mi song chord progression in D Major (C Major played with a capo on the 2nd fret). Go ahead and sing that famous scale backwards (Do-Ti-La-So-Fa) and you’ll understand why the reverse of that happy Sound of Music tune has to be sad.

@@R4lee444 It is, cause songs like these are a direct result of life experiences. while a lot of 16 year olds may experience the things talked about in this song, but to articulate that into something so powerful is surely rare imo.

"Strumming my pain with his fingers. Singing my life in a song. Killing me softly with his words...killing me softly..."
I concur. I've seen him play live several times and I have felt that.❤
I can’t imagine my life without him. He has been my mainstay since I was 16. 💞
own it!
A thousand memories flicker and fade in just 3 minutes.
Beautifully stated. Thank you.
timeless, beautiful music
Finger picking excellence matched with thoughtful words…not much of that around anymore…a genre for those with a heart.

@@HolyCanoley absolutely- ‘don’t confront me with my failures’ from one so young
Love, love Jackson sooo much! xooxoxoxo
My fav version
It's such a special song.
I’d give my left arm just to be able to pick this one song on the guitar. ❤😂
How would you play your guitar without your left arm?

I love Jackson so much i named my cat Jackson
What amazes me is that he wrote this song about me...and we've never met.
my thoughts exactly. and damn it, every song he sings it's like he's singing it just for you. amazing
Same here! Especially "don't confront me with my failures..."
Listen to this with him and Greg allman
Gregg Allman did a cover released on his "Laid Back" LP. Amazing
as a 16 year old I know sure as hell I can't put my thoughts into words as eloquent and profound as this at my age 😭😭
Keep trying.
Beautiful... These days I seem to think about,,,,Dont confront me about my failures... for i have not forgotten them......
beautful song man

All forgiven, Jackson. It took decades . . . I get it.
let's go Noah📈🥶
Hey Jon I didn know you covered this song. I'm gonna play it low, unless u don't want me to.
I started to add a comment about this song being relevant "these days" , but lets just leave it alone.
So it is
Thank you
I can hear glimpses of "Song for Adam" on the guitar.
If you can't have enough of this song, give a listen the elliot smith version, which i think is better honestly and sounds more raw
