How does a guy come off so likable in every video, Steve, keep on being awesome.
He should give Omar lessons
Because he’s genuine & isn’t a sellout, unlike most CZcamsrs.
He doesn't come off likable, he is likable.
Almost everyone who hang out with DDE are great people. They roll with positivity and good cheer :)

went to japan. and the number 1 tip tell to car guy friends is. If you go to Roponggi and you see exotic cars their with dudes in really great suits. dont take pictures. or be very respectful they might probably be Yakuza
Tabletop Newtype this was a probably with some of my friends, we went to a club and some guys were in traffic in exotic cars. My friends were drunk and snapped a quick picture, the passenger came out and started walking towards us. My friend got scared shitless but the guy just told him delete the photo or else. Ya scary stuff
Are yakuza really that dangerous? It seems like an anime myth but I really dont know
@@BlastinRope Very dangerous. A lot of myths and legends have basis in reality. The Yakuza are known for human smuggling, prostitution, illegal gambling, and even contract for hire. They generally won't go out of their way to harm civilians but use of physical intimidation and even up to a severe ass beating is not out of the question for disrespect. I've heard of them disappearing people but have never seen proof of that. Public killings of rivals are rare but spectacular.
@@joeblow5214 thanks for the write up, sounds like if the average person (like me) visited japan they dont have to worry about the yakuza
@@BlastinRope Same as pretty much anywhere in the West; if you aren't looking for trouble, it isn't looking for you. Stay safe and get a travel guide. There is also classes for people that feel that they need travel safety training. And state.gov is a good resource as is the CIA Worldbook website.

This was a great start to the new year. *Highfive* Vinwiki!

Tat wizard here. "Tebori" is the term for doing the tattoo by hand. Their tattooing is called "irezumi". I could listen to stories like this all day long, for real. There isn't enough high quality, genuine stories in the form of this or film, available. I'd fucking love to go to Japan some time. If any crazy Japanese scab masters are reading this, hit me up.
Always a good story when Steve is in the VINwiki studio
Wow one of the best vinwiki episode, Steve is an amazing storyteller
I have never seen a title so specific my entire life, not even pornhub does it that good.
Im not a car guy by any means but this was interesting
Steve is literally the chilliest nicest dude! More plz!!!
Steve is very knowledgeable! I've been in Japan for 30 years, and some of the stuff was new to me. Really cool, thanks for sharing!
Just heard this dude for the first time. I believe every word he says, he clearly knows the culture, and I would love to see more of his work/research. He has a connection and a relationship with the Japanese under world that is truly amazing. And it comes from nothing but a car culture. It would be like someone coming here from another country in the mid 90's talking to gang bangers by asking them about the 60's Impalas with switches. You get a long way by showing interest in their passions.
1 million yess congrats guys y'all deserve so much more tho!!!!!
Hearing Steve talk about Japan is super interesting, not just cars but also things like this.

The technique they use for tattooing is called “Tebori” it’s supposedly painful and highly expensive my friend has some Japanese tattoos done tebori style that he’s rather fond of. Definitely cool stuff

My college roommate in the early 90s was from Osaka, Japan 🇯🇵. This was the first time ( pre fast furious) I had heard of the Japanese tuner car culture. When they came to the US they were shocked ( in terms of their $$) what you could buy ( like half of from Japan yen 💴)They all bought brand new cars, twin 300z, Prelude, MR 2 then put body kits stickers light etc. wish I had he $ then because after 4 years and going back to Japan they needed to sell and asked me if I wanted to for only a few thousand a car. They didn’t care it was their parents money. All were sold cheap. Wish I had a few of them now.

I was really surprised that some were able to get out of the Yakuza and start a new future. I have to adapt my expectations every day but this was a really unexpected one.
As stated in the video, the yakuza is no longer the same from back in the day. They may have downsized and dispersed leaving opportunities for a few to escape.
