You mention the lack of respect and cleanliness in the UK compared to Japan and I would include the states also. It's a culture in Japan and Asia that has been been going for many, many years. Many generations. Western society could learn many important lessons. Most not even car related.
I think its something taught to them in schools. The kids in Japan clean the schools before going home. It instills cleanliness in them at a young age.
My opinion: Unlike Western society, most families are still intact in Asia. Two parents in the home and there's a huge emphasis on respect and honor. They're also a very homogenous country living by the same set of expectations that they have been for years.
Not true at all. In asia there is clean only in Japan and Korea. In west there is just as clean in at least in every nordic country except places where muslim invasion have taken place. Same in many country in Germany etc. So filth is only thing in US, China and India. Those are the worst in the world. Well Russia is pretty bad too.
@@clappedoutsubieshoopties2216 this is a great point with so many broken families in western society. I'm guessing the divorce rates are quiet low in Asian countries compared to the states. You bring up expectations of family and their kids. I don't see this level of expectations growing up. Honestly, that would be tough but it's instilled in them growing up from a young age, you see a lot of disrespect to parents and older people here in western counties you would never see in Asian countries.
@@brandonburr4900 That was my experience when living there. It's a completely different situation that what we have here. There's a deep sense of excellence being important. People work hard even from a young age. Also, I'm very big on personal sovereignty. But the way people there behave is as if they're all one family that hold a common understanding. For example, if an elderly person gets on the train, you get up and offer your seat. Here I feel like everyone has absolutely different backgrounds and no common strain of etiquette.
I visited Japan last year. I can say one thing about it - that country is very good at exceeding any expectations you might have.
Lived in Tokyo for 20 years. There are trash bins at the convenience stores, and at the train and subway stations. Nothing on the street. People aren't taking their trash home.
In the US we have trash bins everywhere........and people still toss their garbage everywhere but the bins😔

Was in Tokyo for Auto Salon in 2020 right before COVID. Drove around in an FD3S & R34 GTR while I was out there. Went to an Underground Meet in Shibuya that I heard they replicated in 2023. Went to Omori Factory & a bunch of other places. Wish I had the opportunity to tell all those stories on VinWiki

One of the main reasons the Tokyo car scene survives is there is no drink driving in Japan.
Zero, zip, nada...not a drop if you are driving a car.
This means the roads aren't heavy with drunks and road ragers. The traffic is heavy in many places so speeds are pretty low, whatever car you are in.
When you get some open road there's no massive police radars and traps everywhere because everyone behaves.
It is an awesome place to drive a quick good handling car. The center of Japan in Aichi prefecture has beautiful winding roads to play on.
I highly recommend you go there :)
Japan is an upward spiral country.
Because public rail is so damn good, people can get plastered and take the rail home. Because there’s few drunk drivers, police can spend resources to concentrate law enforcement in areas that need it the most. This is a big contributor to Japan being so safe that children age 6 and up take the subway to school. Because of this, most Japanese are very mindful to take care/look out for kids and young people. When these kids grow up to be car guys, they’ve had a history of positive experience with the general public and are more conscious of their impact on other people’s lives.
Meanwhile, in America… Mustang Bro removes Cat + muffler and tears up my street at 3am because his shit faced, the bars are closed, and somehow he just knows in his heart this jack ass mating dance is going to get him laid.

honestly people rev their engines like crazy at daikoku pa pretty often, and all around the above freeways. he’s definitely accurate about the trash part, it’s amazingly clean there

What a great description... Japan is in fact a different world. Clean, respectful, civilized! They take their passions to a whole new level... It applies to car tuning, and modifying. Some like it, some don´t. But every one respect it!!!!

I dream to visit Japan and SE Asia/Korea. Japan seems amazing to visit and experience, amazing people etc. SE Asia is more my speed, as Japan is a bit more rigid culturally/politically but I love much of the culture. The cars, art, Zen Buddhism in Japan/Theravada Buddhism in SE asia... So much to take in. Lambos are awesome but JDM is my favorite stuff. Awesome story!

FYI, the Daikoku Parking area is actually in Yokohama.
Aaand it's actually parking/resting facility on the Expressway, a toll road that's not that cheap (thus keeping the Bosozoku gangs with their cheap plasticky and dangerous builds out) and that has so many cameras around that you can't avoid consequences. Depending on where you get onto the expressway, you'll easily pay the equivalent of 20USD or even more for a one way trip.
Also, if you're behaving like a gangster, the cops might come to your home and pick you up and confiscate the car. They don't need to chase you, they're good at investigations and have access to lots of cameras along the road.
And mind you the place is a private business, that can't afford this place to be turned into a gangster-meet. Hence they will exercise their rights as property owners and trespass you, and you might even be banned from the express way (run by the same company) as well.

I go to Japan for work sometimes the country is amazing and 100% for sure the respect level is amazing the only other city thats so clean is Singapore. I love the JDM culture I have had my 180SX for 23yrs and will never sell it.

Respect is very important in Japan. It's ingrained into the people after centuries of a culture where any disrespect can quickly lead to you finding yourself on the wrong end of a sword.
Thanks for sharing, japan is somewhere I'm longing to visist aswell to check out the car culture- its amazing how very different people's accounts and expieriences in Japan , are all over rided with one common thing- which is how polite, kind caring and respectful they are.
As a uk car enthusiast, the pop and bang brigade as I call them do my head in, especially as more and more modern cars are unfortunately being made to sound worse with tightening legislation around engines and exhaust systems- just no - we dont want to here the 50th focus or fiesta st turning up to a meet doing the same rev, pop and bang- god forbid 2 or more of these lot start popping and banging together
Japan is an amazing place to visit, but the one thing I would point out is that you very much have to accept that they do things differently from how we do in Europe and the US. Some things are awesomely cool, others are really impractical and/or old school, and they do expect everyone to accept it and go with it. Don't question it, don't make a fuss, just pay attention and do what everyone else does and you'll be OK. Food is great, I loved it except for how much they stick their version of mayo in or on everything.
Cars - for me the coolest was seeing all the stuff we never get in Europe or the US, they have a kind of van that we just don't, I forget what they call them but it's like a boxy small van body on a sports sedan chassis type of deal, that are luxurious, fast and high tech.

The fact that you went to Tokyo and hired a car and did not use the trains is absurd....but shows you how little the west does not understand the trains in Japan. Next time try the trains. They are faster than using a taxi or hire car.
Most Westerns can't understand Japanese Cars Scene, while it's different and not what you would expect, these same people come home and degrade each other and discourage the same kind of organic growth they just saw in Japan. It's funny. You can be doing a build how you want and everyone has criticism, but in Japan they would come help you with your vision and appreciate it no matter how crazy it is. Japan is a special place and the radical left in the world and the outsiders want to ruin it for no other reason other than they can.
We used the trains a ton but none to Daikoku. It’s only accessed by car unfortunately. So we took a cab from Yokohama station and used Uber to get back. Not bad but no train to Daikoku.
Never liked liberty city walk body kit's. I love wide body's, but liberty walk's body kit's look so bad. They are like like cancer on amazing car's, looks so I dont know, facke.
