Why You Should Settle Cannibal Plains | Kenshi Location Guide

  • Cannibal Plains is not a location most would choose to live in. However, taking higher risks in Kenshi often produces a proportional reward. The Cannibal Plains is no exception to this. Those who do survive here will be well trained and well provisioned. Using this location guide, I hope that others can set up a base here and experience the ups (and downs) that go along with doing so.

    In my current playthrough I actually settled a little farm settlement right next to the fishing village on the Northern Coast and it honestly just feels like a better version of that. Iron and especially copper are very trash but the fertility and water are top tier, you can mass produce grog and sell it to the local village (which also has basic mats and a ton of recruits) and the trek to World's End is not that bad. You still get raided by cannibals a lot too (they love to swim over from Darkfinger) so you're not missing on the exciting painted tribe adventures, the other threats are largely absent though (no beak things, berserkers or shrieking bandits).

      This will change radically if you get the Hiver Expansion mod (different from Hives Expanded, and you should get both btw), as that will add the highly xenophobic Northern Hive, made up mainly of martial artists and ready to attack all non-hive characters on sight.
      Their patrols are end-game stuff, and will definitely F you up, although if you’re making a Hiver-only run their shops are actually pretty great especially for weapons and armor.

      Went there with a group of like 11 people and the settlers pup. 5 guys got knocked down because of the guy with the big meat hammer. Lucky cannibal hunters came along to help me. Not 10 seconds later bersekers showed up. After a long fight i dropped my sleeping bags to help them recover. Just to get swarmed by beak things since i placed the bags like 20m away from a nest xD 3 people got kidnapped and rescued have not lost anyone so far

    Fighting cannibals isn't the most annoying part about living in maneater county; it's the fact that they will treat sleeping players as unconscious and carry them off. I generally don't build walls around my settlements, because walls are simply a barrier between me and the swordmeat I want to kill. In maneater county, I build walls so my guys can sleep without getting kidnapped.

    I went there very unprepared with intent to settle before I knew cannibals were all over. I had run far enough that my run speed was very high. I actually had my best playthrough ever and made a mega base because every time a horde aggroed I'd just kite them to the nearest settlement and have them slaughter them for me, then I'd pick up the nicest scraps and sell them. Hundreds died. Potentially thousands of limbs were severed. Good times. The best, maybe.

    The bull pack animal has a gore attack that can hit multiple enemies. It's regular head shake with horns is a multi hit usually. I usually get a pack of dogs and a few bulls. I feed the dogs arms and legs. If you load up a bull with all copper you will have 1776 pounds or so. Then you carry the bull to train your strength. The more weight you carry the faster you level strength. So I usually fill a backpack with copper then put it in my other backpack. Also having really crappy cybernetics helps you get those last few high levels. As its so hard to practice with crappy arms and legs that if you can pick locks with that you can pick it with anything

    I agree with you in regards to the cannibal's weapons. Yes, their stats are trash and even large groups of them can be easily dealt with mid to high stats characters (but that's the thing, mid to high stats).
    What makes these painted, naked savages dangerous is their choice of weapons The Hackers & Blunt weapon classes.
    Any armor below High or Standard grade will get demolished rapidly. Even Specialist or Masterwork grade is risky since Hackers & Blunts ignores 10-30% of armor + that additional +20% Damage to Humans buff.
    So your characters will get hit with stacking debuffs even in armor. Which is why the cannibals are dangerous - their choice of weapons.

    • @paulrogersgaming
      @paulrogersgaming  Před 11 měsíci +2

      Blunt weapons are a pain. Skin Bandits literally have MKI Clubs. No matter what, most of the damage gets through :(

      @lukmaanpratomo6866 Před 11 měsíci +2

      @@paulrogersgaming Yup, both Hackers & Blunts. No matter what armor type & grade you wear, 10-30% of the damage WILL punch through. This is further compounded when your character is either a typical human or skeleton as the will receive an additional 10-30% more damage (50% in the case of Paladin Cross).

    Your videos are good bro keep it up!
    My base usually remains right in front of Squin on the big hill towards the Hub where I jump start my early game with exporting tons of copper to the Squin shops, then I fortify my base as far as I can without unique research artifacts and collect an army of 30 weak recruits nearby, craft some lower level armor and weapons and go on research artifact expeditions out into the world. I usually neglect agriculture and food altogether and live off the Squin shops. Joining the Shinobi Thieves in the Hub is nice early on, and from then I slowly upgrade my army and conquer the map. It's convenient, but sometimes too easy as well.. Your videos inspire me to build an autonomous base from scratch far away.

    so, i was playing with a huge modpack. started in rebirth, slowy started recruiting other slaves for the upcoming rebellion, realised it was not possible, just planned one of us to escape so they could train, get help from flotsam bla bla. a scorchlander female named Odra was our best shot, she already had decent combat skills and she could run faster then all of the rebirth soldiers. she got out and then a 30 day training arc begun. sometimes going back in rebirth to save a slave or two. and after a lotta time, with enough manpower and equipment, the REAL main character, Aiden(backstory AI gave this name), supposedly one of the best strategists in kenshi, thought it was finally the time to attack rebirth. For a long time, our visits to rebirth was labelled "rescue missions". But this one would be big. Im gonna skip these parts, it was a big success, there was not a living rebirth soldier and all the slaves were free. Now Aiden had 50~ to manage. Flotsam Village was already full to the brim. So, the strongest of ours formed a team, took some flotsam groups and went after the cannibal leaders. it was bad for the both sides, but the grand wizard, canhead(?) and meatlord was no more. We allied with deadcat and cannibal hunters. We shook hands with Moll, told her thanks for our stay. Went to a coast... Biggest mistake of our lives. I've placed few buildings down, that goddamn notification came. "something something of Grand Wizard", then one more "something something of Meat Lord". There was so many notifications, i don't even know if i got raided by Canhead. We fought all of them, nearly all of the slaves were unconscious, some got kidnapped but i let them got eaten for RP purposes. Even some of our strongests was downed. And then two more notifications. A raid from Holy Nation and Yabuta Outlaws. I've never been to UC, i dont know how this faction formed without setting Yabuta free, but it was coming. Holy Nation was easy, they didnt come for a long time but i knew they would. But boy, Yabuta outlaws... They killed my best martial artist with one slash those dudes had amazing stats. One of my best warriors lost her leg. And then... Aiden died too. In a normal playthrough, i would've loaded, but goddamn all of this was epic. The combat, the feelings, the story that just got created..
    TLDR: Settle down in Cannibal Plains, its worth it.

      always bro bro. If i ever critique anything its outta love not hate. Just want your channel to do better and get better quality content is all. I do appreciate when youtubers actually address their shortcomings and fix them. I will continue to be a watcher of your content.@@paulrogersgaming
