I'd like to say the music was better then but that's not true. It sounds just as good now as it did then to my ears anyway. I was 13 in 1990 and had been playing guitar for 3 years at that point, just hitting my stride and heavily immersed in all sorts of music. The 1990s were a really really great time for music in my opinion. So many great bands and so much incredible music came out of that decade and not just in metal either. The alternative rock group Belly, who was lead by Tanya Donnely, released their debut album called Star in 1993 and to this date I don't think I've found an album that I like more, such amazing songwriting and production. I highly recommend everyone check that record out even though it is definitely not metal and I'm a Metalhead through and through. But anyway, people who had their formative teenage years in the 1980s probably say the same about the hair metal and the keyboard/synth rock that made the 80s shit, that the 80s were such a great time for music when I couldn't disagree with that statement more. Just goes to show how everything's subjective, a matter of personal opinion. We all have our own perspective regarding everything. That perspective sometimes agrees with other people but does not necessarily make it factual

Unfortunately shortly after this is when they started losing me. “Countdown” has some solid songs, but the pure menace of previous albums was absent. It was a new, cleaner, nicer Megadeth. Glad they kept soldiering on, but Rust In Peace was the be all, end all for me.
Same here boss. I remember sitting in my bedroom after begging my mother to take me to the Kmart to purchase Rust in Peace after it came out, guitar in my lap trying to figure out Holy Wars The Punishment Due. 30 years later and I still haven't nailed it down completely, though I do a fairly decent reproduction of Dave's ending solo, nor have I found a more perfect metal song. I wanted to be Dave Mustaine when I was a young teenager. Oddly however, I saved up my paper route earnings and bought a Jackson Kelly, like Marty played. Not a king V like Mustaine. To this day, I think that Kelly Standard is one of the best sounding guitars I've ever owned.
@Ira van den Heuvel - Awesome! Yeah I’m a guitar player as well and I bought the book of guitar tabs for Rust In Peace back then, attempting to learn the rhythm parts to a bunch of those songs. I was there, I won the tickets off the radio when I was living with my grandparents in Long Beach Ca. Megadeth, Judas Priest and Testament. Got to meet all the members of all 3 band's, tee shirts and cd's. I was going with my aunt because I didn't know anyone yet at the time because I had just come down to Socal from Washington state in 1990 to get away from the Meth scene I had been in for 5 yrs . That was my family's way of trying to help me back then which worked until I moved back to Wa. This concert was 11 days before my 21st . But my aunt had a serious alcohol problem and was a wreck the day of the concert and her boyfriend at the time was the only other person I had that had a vehicle to get us there, I hadn't met anyone my age yet .It was a killer show except he didn't believe in people under 21 yrs old drinking. I talked him in to buying me 2 40oz bottles of St Ides . It was still a great time .

@@NKomarov yes and no , it was also a less divisive world . Social media and the internet have ruined discourse and the media has divided us more then ever. its crazy how much you can tell how much dave m is such a separate entity in the band. the vibes are so different whenever he's around the rest of the crew
It's cause Dave Muistane is a leader.
hearing Testment in the background around 15:00 is so awesome. can hear them playing The Legacy which is such a nostalgic song.. love it!
Wow, it's incredible how good hook in mouth sounds live. I always loved the song but it's an even greater jam of energy and aggression on stage
Truly one of the greatest rock bands there
Great video, thanks for sharing guys!!! Loved it!
Wow thanks for this video
Gracias x este video ver a mi banda favorita en sus mejores tiempos es genial
I feel like the guys in the band prefer blondes
hairball Except for Marty
Well they all married blondes except for Marty, so I'd you're spot on.
HYPERDT/SG no sex, no drugs, no wine, no women.. (everyone around me is a tall, dark stranger)..
Marty's wife is Chihiro
the guys preferred brown - that was part of the problem
Testament shreddin it in the background on stage...fracken legendary the intro of Megadeth resonates of current times...stay in your homes--do not congregate in groups more than 2....\m/ love the bass sound in this video Effelson's the Masterrrrrr
Playing the legacy.
It's so cool to see David and Marty jam out in the beginning
Ellefson backing vocals are fucken bad ass.
762ranger yep... a shame he didnt sing on the records
What an interesting Time Capsule. Kudos to whomever kept this shit and kudos for uploading.
man,,, those were the days !!! ,,, we will never see like this again :(
Crazy. The guy Dave is calling for “Bobby”. I met and worked with him before years ago. Probably around 1995 which was only a few years after this was filmed. He was partial owner of a studio in Utica NY we recorded at. Cool dude. He had a ton of megadeth passes, picks and other stuff lying around the studio. I knew he worked with them but it was cool to hear Dave calling for him
21:38 sounding like COVID news coverage
When they’re playing Ashes in you mouth at the beginning no worries in the world ❤️ Megadeth fan til I die
“Hook In Mouth” is always relevant. Dave’s lyrics transcend time
Especially in 2022 ! The Woke cult overlords are FAR worse then old Tipper and her husband......
Countdown to Extinction was just around the corner. That tour must of been insane!!
Of course life backstage at a metal concert is great. But I can't help feeling like EVERY aspect of life was better back then.
The single aspect is that we were younger
It was better because, you lose Freedom every year.
@@NKomarov yes and no , it was also a less divisive world .
Social media and the internet have ruined discourse and the media has divided us more then ever.
Of course people had there issues in 1990 and the world had many problems but the average person seemed happier, women were women men were men and people had a sense of humour, didn't take things so seriously.
I honestly believe today's " progressive" world is the most divided , hateful, insane time in the west in a hundred years !
Today someone would want Ellefson " cancelled" for his Japanese inspired shirt that he showed at the beginning of the video for being " Racist " .
That's the world we live in now , and yes of course life is better when your 15 like I was in 1990 but even my parents say the same thing , life was just better before the 2000s.
Not a drink in sight, these guys knew their shit. Watching these behind the scenes is awesome, a snapshot in time of a new era for megadeth. Marty rocks
That's cause this was the first " sober " tour , a year before you would have seen a very different Megadeth!
Wow!!! This is an amazing video! No joke. This is gold!!!
Looking back.. I'm blessed to have seen this tour twice.
The way ellefson talks reminds me of Randall from clerks lmaoo
mustaineforpresident 2016 yes!
Are we just gonna ignore 15:08
Yeah, what the fuck was that?

Noice 👌
That must have been The Donald
What about 19:14
My mom man
I can almost only hear the bass guitar. Amazing
31:49 look at marty in the background him and nick looked like they were having so much fun the entire time 💗
Man the 90s were awesome. Such a great time for music of all types.
I love watching this stuff. I wanna go back in time.
rust in peace Nick Menza
Wow, the concert intro (starting at 21:40) with the "authoritarian" figure listing the martial law rules is SO apropos right now! Megadeth looked 30 years into the future!
Yep, we've never been closer to living that intro for real.
Intro says, among other things, no more than two people may gather....
