I think what ended the Metallica story for Dave was his being too charismatic and standing out, not his drug and alcohol problems as claimed. If it was so, he wouldn't have formed his band in just 1 year and written his name in gold letters in metal history. Oh James, you listened to Lars too much.

I remember the moment around 85 when I put the kill em all tape cassette in the Walkman and earphones in the ear just right after I push the play button my fucking jaw was literally on the floor..This band was and will always be the God of the metal music period. BTW If whoever recorded this is alive, I respectfully bow to them. If they are dead, RIP

Dave Mustaine's voice is horrible at times in a live capacity. Weak, out of pitch and annoyingly high-pitched. He improved in the studio over the years, but was always poor live. It's a pity, because they are all fantastic musicians and Dave's a great songwriter and brilliant rhythm guitarist.
