In this video, Amy asked that I watch a compilation of Jimin and V talking about the dumpling incident that lead to the creation of the songs "4 O'Clock" and "Friends"! I think the incident comes from 1) the manners of not eating before others 2) VMIN being the kind of friends who bicker over everything as they said, bc theyre 'same aged friends' (if your born in different years, there's an age hierarchy. for same aged people this age hierarchy doesn't apply, so them being born at the same time lets them be less 'respectful' towards eo than they'd have to be if they were born apart, thus they can fight more) 3) 2016 being a VERY difficult year. this would be summer of 2016. Tae was shooting hwarang, bts came off a comeback with HYYH:YF, being targeted by malicious anti attacks both at YF and break the wings project, were filming bv1, preparing for wings. they worked incredibly hard for wings, actually so hard that it wasn't healthy (jimin in particular worked himself to the bone and didn't eat enough). yoongi also was releasing agust d. as they said that all members were "touchy" actually meaning "easily frustrated", with a short fuse. presumably bc of how incredibly busy they were and how this point of their career was a breaking point (yoongi believed wings would be their peak and a start of the end lol).
V became Close with the actors in the Drama and the Boys would say: Well Go Hang Out with Them If you Like Them more, in a teasing way though

It's funny cuz I think you got it down perfectly, Tae was working on the drama around that time and was probably busy and spending a lot of time with his co-stars on the show. There was a lot of running jokes between the guys that Tae is spending more time with his TV show friends, Jimin was also definitely more insecure/possessive during this time.
2016 just being a rough year in general for all of them, I guess Jimin felt like he was losing his best friend (or becoming distant with him) and that probably scared him and made him insecure. I think the dumpling in this case was just the catalyst to an already existing problem 🤷🏻♀️💜

I don't know if Tae really had attitude when he was doing Hwarang, but Jimin was DEFINITELY jealous. There's clips around of them filming something. Jimin and Hobi are entertaining themselves during a break, and Tae comes over and asks if he can play. Jimin says, in the snarkiest voice I've ever heard come out of him) "Why don't you go play with your Hwarang hyungs?" and walked away. He was TOTALLY jealous of Tae's actor friends. He's mentioned in a few VLives that he doesn't like sharing his friends. LOL
I’m always impressed with reactors who are able to read between the lines when they watch dumpling incident videos because I would be willing to put serious money on this fight having nothing to do with dumplings, that was probably only the catalyst. Jimin was 100% jealous of Tae’s other friendships and it showed big time - there’s a reason why Jimin is so reluctant and embarrassed to talk about the details of the fight whereas Tae is more open about it. But thankfully for them they got through it and are stronger as a result
I have had some *throw down* fights with really close friends over some *dumb* stuff, lol. Usually there is some sort of underlying insecurity or longstanding frustration driving it.
This is so great. Also, I believe when they said they were touchy at that time, they didn’t mean it like touchy-feely physically but touchy as in sensitive & more short-tempered (probably due to stress, sleep deprivation, insecurity at that age/stage of their career compared to now).

Glad you delved a little in the circumstances of the now renowned argument 😂... If you’re familiar with MBTI personality types, you would have noted that V and Jimin differ only in the last dimension, V being ENFP, and Jimin being ENFJ. This difference explains the conflict in a startling way because it is fundamental. V perceived (P) his personal hunger as justifying his need to eat immediately, and didn’t think it was a big deal. In contrast, Jimin judged (J) that it wasn’t fair as they all might be hungry and yet hadn’t eaten and it was the principled thing to finish their practice before eating (deeply ingrained value: work comes before reward). This difference was also typical of the way they approached their trainee days: free spirit Tae admitting he often slept late and missed classes and diligent Jimin getting tired of waiting for him in the morning to go to school (they said as much to Jimmy Fallon when he asked them about their school days). And yet, they share the other 3 dimensions: Extraverted, Intuitive & Feeling, which means they are so similar in their motivation and natural inclinations.
the dumpling incident is so adorable, and it’s cute how when the other members wanted them to solve it together then realized that vmin are fighting and saying the same thing over and over and going no where they called them back in to settle things haha
I think u should see the " go to your Hawarag hyungs punk XD" even Suag and Jin joined in this, they were jealous about how he keeps saying "I love yous" to his Hwarang squad and not them too XD
but in all seriousness the schedule of BTS on it's own is hard enough let alone having a drama shooting too, Tae mush have been really really hungry... and to have ordered the food and took a bite then have someone saying no u need to stop and do a physical activity instead I personally would've been mad MAD about it, even a mellow person like Tae would have gotten annoyed in this scenario... being hangry is a known symptom and Jimin said he kinda talked harsh too.
I love how we got 2 songs out of this indecent and how they even got closer because of it.

8:09 i think it's simply a question of "manners", or at least that's how i interpreted it because at least where i'm from it's seen as impolite to start eating before everyone (especially if you're all hungry and tired from work) so i guess that's why jimin pointed out that none of the others had eaten yet but, again, it's just how i interpreted it😅
I just love how mannered, thoughtful, and considerate Jimin is of all the members!! Always thinking of them all, so selfless, thoughtful, & aware of how to behave! So glad and happy you brought that up, a fact which for some reason isn't being talked about much, if at all!! I totally agree with you!!
I think so too... It's a Asian cultural thing ( or at least in South East Asian thing) where it you are close with people you are living it's manners to wait for them to join you eat. It's not written rules or something, but it's a very common practice
Not only that but in Korea the oldest is required to start eating first before anyone else can eat, out if respect for the oldest!! There are many required social etiquettes in Korea that have always been followed, so it's almost beyond manners in some instances!!
having 2 schedules though must have been hard, he even said he ordered on the way, also dumpling is a snack not a full meal many people snack alone

I think the dumpling incident was born out of unspoken issues.
I totally understand Tae coz he basically had to juggle 2 jobs and prove that one would not compromise the other that's a tall order when they are both so taxing. I would want to eat and I would expect people to understand it too. We can see how insane the BTS schedule is, but filming for the first time would also be extremely daunting, especially since they were already receiving so much targeted hate that he feared the reception to his acting debut. People would be waiting to show their hate, so he had to make sure his performance did not grant people an opportunity to justify criticising him.
I see Jimin's stance coming on account of principle. I don't think he realised that Tae wanted to eat right then because he was hungry. He may have thought it was stubbornness.
Tae has said in Burn the Stage that he was under immense pressure as he was filming a drama for the first time and he was worried about doing a good job. He also had to keep us with his BTS activities. He also said the boys said that they know they can't solve this issue for him, but that they will always be there to support him. So I'm sure the guys didn't feel he was acting like he was all that.
I think they were just so used to it being just them that they didn't really know how to handle not having him with them in all their activities while he was getting along so well with his Hwarang hyungs.
If you juxtapose missing someone but aIso see them enjoying time with others, it tends to make one feel like they are losing a friend. Jimin admitted that he certainly felt mad for reasons he couldn't understand. But it makes perfect sense that Jimin would feel like he was losing his best friend to his Hwarang hyungs ( who really dote on him coz he's adorable & he's also the maknae within that group).
So if we put together the insane schedule of BTS & Tae's new additional responsibilities, the worries & pressures that 2016 brought them, the sheer exhaustion & human insecurities and possessiveness in an unfamiliar situation, I think it could easily exacerbate the smallest issue. In fact, it could get much worse.
But because BTS are so incredibly good at communicating and talking through their problems, they do not leave things to fester. Their bond is too important to them to allow things to snow ball. Tae & Jimin have said that they bicker the most but they are incapable of staying mad at each other. They have used their experiences to strengthen their relationship & birthed beautiful songs. I think that's the sweetest & healthiest way of dealing with quarrels.
I adore the way all of them love each other to the ends of the earth.
im just reading these comments now and im so glad we are all on the same page on this and not taking Jimin's jealousy as a negative. tbh, when he said he was mad for unknown reasons i kinda knew what it was about but that was coming from a girl's perspective (me, im girl), that it was honestly surprising to see that same pattern in a male relationship and they are not even hiding it--how refreshing is that? i know now they have overcome that because they are now able to laugh about it but i agree, had they not have a strong bond (and i have to credit the older members for this too), they wouldnt really go past 2018. thank goodness.

Actually, at that time Jimin was mad and jealous of Tae's castmates, apparently he was mad about Tae telling them "I love you" all the time and not to him (nor the members). Tae said, that he made a pact with the Hwarang hyungs, to say "I love you" even as joke. But Jimin was mad about it, he said in an interview that he didn't know why that made him so mad... The boy was mad and was letting people and Tae know 😂
Personally, I don't think the fight was actually about dumplings, maybe that was what sparked the fight but, I think Jimin was just feeling like he was losing his best friend.. I mean, I think that is totally normal, being young, sensitive and stressed out about a lot of things that were happening to them... and your bff being all lovey dovey with new friends and stuff.. And we know Jimin was more insecure back then, and also we know he is (or was) very possessive (he said that himself, he doesn't like to share his friends with anyone lmao)
In fact, also at that time, in a photoshoot with Tae, Jimin was mad (I mean.. he was laughing but was also annoyed... ) bc Tae didn't wait for him in a shooting... And he said "My Taehyungie... (sigh..) He changed"

@@myj9709 According to Jimin, he was a bit jealous and very upset about it. (is not a secret, he said it in an interview in Japan) They (Jimin and Tae) talked about it, and everything was fine. Nothing crazy, is not a bad thing, and being mature (for your age) doesn't make you a robot without feelings. It's ok, is nothing wrong, having feelings (of any kind) doesn't make you inmature... Being mature is facing what makes you upset and talk about it, which was exactly what jimin did so... 🙆🏽♀️
@@myj9709 Dont take it as a negative. they have come to Seoul from different provinces in korea as young boys and grew up very close and always with each other. its not a surprise that jimin would feel that way, and the truth is we are not even putting words in their mouths because jimin actually admitted feeling jealous of his hwarang hyungs even refusing to play with him at one point. that is not a negative, girls go through that phase all our lives, its so refreshing to actually have boys admit to that too.

My theory is that since Tae was babied by his Hwarang hyungs, he got used to eating when he wants to, and he took that with him when he went back to his Bangtan hyungs, and voila, a misunderstanding. But that's just my headcanon.
(??? He literally said that he was really hungry and want something to eat and because of traffic he couldn't eat before practice. He was working at two different jobs, I can't believe I don't read any army just thinking and putting in his place for once.
