      Bud was not at Warbird Roundup this summer, but he was at Oshkosh a month earlier. As you can imagine, he is so well respected and welcomed there.

    Finally got to be there for the Warbird Roundup this year! The Warhawk Museum was very impressive for the amount of Korea, Viet Nam, WWI & WWII memorabilia. Tons of artifacts & anecdotes, lots of knowledgeable volunteers to provide context to this history.
    P-40’s, P-51’s (including the F-51H), P-38, P-47, B-25, Corsair, Bearcat, Beaver on floats, T-6’s, military flyby’s were great to see in the air.

    You can tell the P-47 is a heavy SOB by how much power it needs just to wallow along with the the other R-2800 powered machines. The F8F just chugs on by.

    I'm very glad I was able to attend the show for the first time this weekend. It doesn't quite replace Planes of Fames Airshow, but it was great for the size and proximity to where I live. Thanks for the videos!!

    Great presentation! Nice to see all the round motors there too. I'm guessing the A-10's were from Mountain Home AFB? After passing through Nampa for several years on my way to Yellowstone, I finally took the time to stop by the museum. I'm sure glad I did, wow! That was about 2017 or 18, on a weekday and there was nobody else there. Had great conversation with the folks there and came away with a ton of photos. At the time they were restoring a Bell P-38 or P-63, don't recall now as it was the only mid engine warbird I had ever heard about, let alone seen. They also had Bob Hoover's Ole' Yeller P-51 Mustang there getting some work done. That was a treat!

    • @airailimages

      Thanks for watching. This video was made at Nampa, Idaho, the home of Warhawk Air Museum. The A-10s are from Boise Gowen Field, Idaho ANG. The P-63 and Ole Yeller are at Legacy Flight Museum in Rexburg, Idaho.

    • @steveegbert7429
      @steveegbert7429 Před 2 lety

      @@airailimages Yes, I saw where Ole Yeller was at Rexburg now, but I didn't know the P-63 was there as well.
      I remember on one trip when I was headed east out of Boise, I saw a plane flying pretty low coming towards me and as it got closer it dawned on me that it was an A-10. First time I has seen one in person.

    airailimages ; Thank you for sharing this awesome video. Those A10's were something else for sure but, IMHO, for me anyway, those WW2 era Warbirds cannot be beat 👍😊. Perhaps it's because I'm a 1945 Vintage Old Fart.

      @@airailimagesThe P 40 Warhawk! I can blame my love for that plane on the old movie, The Flying Tigers. I believe Raymond Massey portrayed Claire Chenault. June Allison was in the movie and, was it Dana Andrews? No, I can picture the actor,,,,,,, Dennis something.
      Got it. Dennis Morgan. The movie was
      "God is My Copilot:
      Anyway, that was when I fell for the P 40.
      Again, thank you for sharing this video.
      Well, I think I've got my movies mixed up. John Wayne starred in the Flying Tigers. Jeez, I don't remember the name of that other movie about the AVG.

    I know it's faster and more maneuverable but, ermagerd, that P-51H is a hideous caricature of all the Mustangs that came before it. Still, it's nice to see it fly since, I think, it's the only flyable example in existence.

    • @airailimages
      @airailimages  Před 2 lety +1

      I have to agree, the H-model is less aesthetic than the earlier Mustangs, but it was designed for performance. And so great that people have kept this one available and flying. Thanks for watching and commenting.
