    Embarrassing? Orson Wells's final role was voicing a giant, evil planet-devouring robot. That's a pretty awesome way to finish a career.

    The Reason why the Matrix of Leadership destroys Unicron, is because the Matrix is a part of the Transformers' God, "Primus, Lord of Light" . and Unicron is essentially their Satan analogue. Great animation, a lot of great voice actors, some people may say the soundtrack sounds too 80's, but come on listen to the soundtrack and tell me that it doesn't fill you with the tiniest bit of energy. Besides, I feel this kind of soundtrack honestly perfectly compliments a movie with so much action in it. I also like that this movie felt like an epic that it needed to be in theaters. I notice a lot of tv spinoff movies make small plots that honestly don't feel like there needs to be a movie made about it. Transformer the Movie on the other hands makes it so that it almost feel like this story absolutely had to be a movie.

Even the things that could be identified, such as a batallion of F-15 eagles or a Walther p-38 hand gun, it was still something that wasn't likely to be used directly or indirectly by a child. I didn't get to see TF The Movie during the theatrical run and had to wait for its initial release on home video to see it. But it still upset me as a kid to see so many old guard Autobots, as I liked to think of them, die or already laying dead in the movie. When I saw Optimus Prime die because Hot Rod rushed in trying to be a hero during Prime's last fight with Megatron in Megatron's original form, that just turned my world upside down. I actually spent the rest of my childhood refusing to think of G1's third season as being part of the same universe as the first two. I looked at that whole season as some Transformers alternate universe because to me, Transformers just didn't seem right without the battle of wits and strength between Optimus and Megatron. Plus I remembered Starscream's line from Search for Alpha Trion about Optimus Prime's death being a long sought victory for Decepticons, and it just didn't seem right to give Starscream that satisfaction in his move to the afterlife. Maybe if writers then didn't overdo it falling too much on story lines about Rodimus Prime's doubts about filling Optimus's shoes in being a good leader to the Autobots, I would have warmed up to the season sooner. It wasn't until after runs of the Beast Wars, Beast Machines, and the 2000 to 2001 Robots in Disguise series that I completely warmed up to G1 season 3's place in the G1 continuity.

    • @HeartCardian
      @HeartCardian Před 7 lety +2

      It was story boarded and animated, however the animation was altered from a draw&quarter death to a simple explosion. The altered animation is even easy to notice with the awkward way Ultra Magnus is shot, stumbles, falls, THEN explodes. It's not just awkward, it's inconsistent with every other blast death in the movie.
      The Draw&Quarter intention of the death IS important to note though. As it makes Ultra Magnus' "resurrection' actually a simple repair job of putting the parts back in place. I'm sure an autobot would have no trouble surviving their arms/legs ripped off. Even removing his head might not be fatal, if he hadn't taken significant damage beforehand. The point with Prime is that he shot [completely through] his torso(as the animation shows). He essentially "bled out", which also props up his death scene as being understandable that he lasted that long. In Ultra Magnus' case though, no critical systems were damaged.

    I think you were only joking about it and all ready know, but the older characters weren't killed off because of their own toys being sold poorly, far from it. Hasbro just wanted more of a focus be put onto the new 1986 toys at the time. Ironically enough two characters Jazz and Cliffjumper (both from 84) survived, but were silently removed since actors Scatman Crothers (Jazz) died from lung cancer months after the film was released and Casey Kasem (Cliffjumper) left the show at the start of the third season out of protest for he didn't like the portrayal of Islamic characters in the show. Oh and of curse you didn't mention the biggest elephant in the room where Optimus Prime comes back to life, but there you go.

    "While all this action may captivate young children, the animation is not spectacular enough to dazzle adults, and the Transformers have few truly human elements to lure parents along, even when their voices are supplied by well-known actors.
