I think the best upgrade is to make more of them so I can actually get one.
Haha that is the truth, Im sure more are on their way.
They are in Florida🤣🤣
I gave up on my 300 Rally order and took the 300L that came in last week. I am NOT disappointed. The bike rocks.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
I have one, just the worst motorcycle I've had, heavy, weak and noisy engine, and the suspensions are just a joke
thank you so much for all theses little tips. will be getting my 300l next month can't bloody wait
Looking forward to the seeing the rest of your upgrades!
I just ordered a very expensive exhaust, so thats on its way lol.
Thanks for the info bro . Can’t wait to get my own crf300L

Just found your channel, dude, love your content. You are criminally underrated. I could never be a youtuber, but if I were, your style of content is exactly what I would want to put out. I have an Africa Twin and it has proven to just be too much of a beast off-road, your channel has sold me on getting the CRF300L to add to the stable, then throw some street tires on the Africa Twin. It's a shame you're not near me, would love to go riding with you sometime.
@@coreysmith9314 thanks man! That is one of the nicest comments I got so far. I just started this channel and I'm at about 1,000 subs. Seems people are really enjoying the content. And the Africa Twin is a beast!
Please ignore my other comment, lol, thanks
@@numbersletters3886 Haha its all good, hey thanks so much for trying to support me! We also just started a Patreon as well. Either way you are awesome for looking for the Amazon link.
Hey Andrew, really loved all your reviews of the crf300l so much that I have inquired abour a test ride....
Great honest reviews mate.
Cheers.
Jim
That bike setup is perfect ✨🔥. Good job !
Love the stickers on the wheels. Damn good looking bike!
Awesome presentation, with LOGIC for your choices 👍🏼
Will have a look for the more Street-oriented bike. I anticipate about 70:30 (street:dirt)
Good vidio.Very informative. Thanks Andrew.
Hi Andrew enjoy your videos. I just started watching CZcams recently. I was sick over Thanksgiving/Christmas holidays and found your channel. I use to ride dirt bikes almost 50 years ago. I forgot how much fun it can be. I want to get 300L. Well my friends think I’m crazy at 72. Hopefully I can find some old farts to ride with. Andrew keep up with videos, great content.
fantastic video, thanks
Thank you Andrew.
Fab video thanks from UK
I Like the handle bar foam as Well 👍
Your bike looks great with the upgrades.
Thank you.
Solid upgrades for sure. My first upgrades will probably be: hand guards, handlebar, tail tidy, LED headlight bulb, and adjustable gear shift lever.
Nice, that is a solid upgrade path.
In line to get one! Waiting for that call :)
Thank you for the video!
No problem!
Good looking bike. Nicely setup
Thank you, I have a really nice Yoshi exhaust coming this week.
nice review
Thanks, I actually have tons of reviews on the channel.
Hope they’ll release some more tank options soon. Eyeballing the 300l as a daily rider but the stock tank seems small for my commute.
Your Honda looks amazing btw!
Thank you, I have a rally now and I have some cool changes coming when it comes to looks /anesthetics.
Good review.
Thank you, and thanks for commenting.
A tip to change the sprockets and save some cash and achieve the same result of 49 tooth. Go down one tooth on drive sprocket then go up to a 44 tooth on back wheel. Doing this you can keep factory chain. In the end you save 80 bucks. 🤷🏽♂️
You are correct.
looks great good upgrades
Thank you, there is so much more I want to do. I forgot to mention rim locks, radiator guard, aftermarket chain guide, and I cant wait for aftermarket graphics kits.
If I may make a recommendation is using the Pirelli MT21 front and Dunlop 606 rear. I put over 20k on that combo on my WR250R and found it to be the best of both worlds.
another upgrade a lot dont think about: rear brake master cylinder cover
I saw it in another video, but that thing is definitely in danger. Having a plate to cover it is essential for offroad
Yea I can see that I never really run into an issue like that, and my terrain isnt too rocky. But I have thought about 3d printing one.
Great video, thanks for sharing! I am about to buy the CRF300 rally and I am checking already the mods..
One question: to install the acerbis handguards on the protaper bar, did you need any adapter ? Sometimes the external screws (near the grips) need adapters to fit the proper diameter of the handlebar. Any info here? Thanks!
Nice bike! Thinking of getting a new ABS model. Going back to my DS roots. 450 is too expensive and flames out.
I have a solution to your missing chain guide. Get one off of a 2004 CRF150R. You might have to deepen the notch for the sprocket with a saw a little, but it works on my 250L with a 48T. It's supposed to be good up to a 50T.
Andrew if you have not already done so the CB 300 front venturi mod and side air cover with frog skin vent and a unifilter with snorkel mod and pre filters you could also get the upgrade CB 300 cams as that will lift HP and overall rev range enhancement
I just got a 2023 yesterday so fucking fun only got 25 kms on it so far
Great video, thank you!!! Any idea on the actual link for the Rim Trim Kit in that color, I found similar ones but the pattern/style you have is the best looking ones I have seen? The ones I found have more white on them. Thx...
Anybody have any info on these exact Rim Kit stickers? thanks...
Great video! Just wondering, did you have the cut your clutch lever to make it fit with the Acerbis handguards? Also, it seems like the grip for the throttle is a bit too short!? Thanks!
thanks
Thank you 👍
Hey brother, I'm picking mine up this morning. Too excited. What is that black box that is on the side of the bike near passenger peg
Andrew, where you buy so beautiful stickers for rims ?)
Hey mate, what Rear sprocket are you using and what bike is it off? I'm struggling to find anything aluminium for the 300L and I'm not sure what other options fit 😅
Cheers!
Thanks for the video! Do you have a link for the rear sprocket you put?
I have the info here: www.patreon.com/posts/following-is-of-67434715?Link&
Hi. I had a new WR250r back in 08 and had to sell it. I rode the neighbors 250L on road once and i felt it wasn't near as fast as my WR which I felt was barely enough power, like barely wheelie in 2nd gear, so my question is, is the 300L noticably faster then the 250L? I would definitely re gear it the same way you went.
And is the stock suspension adequate for a 185 pound out of shape, washed up rider for fire lanes, sandy trails and gravel roads? That unfortunately means lack of jumps, just typical northern Wisconsin fire lanes and trails.
No highways where I live, speed limits are mostly 45 mph (as far as gearing)
Sorry this is so long, but the way you have your bike set up is perfect and I would copy it to a T.
Can you enlighten about different tires front and back, please! Thank you!
Sure I made a video for that: czcams.com/video/VO9jQjQK11Y/video.html
Hi man did you buy the protaper mount for the handlebar?
Or just use the oem one?
Like the mods! Doing some similar things to our 300 - can't find that sprocket - can you give a link?
Many of the sprockets are the same bolt pattern from honda. You just have to match the pattern however the other bikes use bolts that have a tapered head where as the stock honda bolts have a flat head. So just make sure you get the right bolts as well.
Where'd you get the wheel stickers? I don't see them in your Amazon store
Great video. I can't decide between this bije or the Kawasaki KLX 300. I am 6 ft about 180 lbs and like fire road riding. Not sure if I need to upgrade rear suspension. Any advice?
Did you buy either?
What exhaust do you recommend ? And will a crf 250L exhaust fit the 300L ?
Again in Thailand the Ohlins suspension upgrade is available at approximately £600
very nice looking bike.. IM 235 lb.s and havng trouble deciding on THIS ONE or TW200.. Im also 54 and my days of having fast fun has lowered to a putt pu slow n enjoy. 90% off road 10% highway. im leaning towards the TW and spending what need be to get er a little more power. i noticed you said you have a TW. YOUR THOUGHTS PLEASE
So the tw200 is a completely different bike. Its almost not a dual sport at all but a farm bike with big balloon tires. Most of the time people gravitate to the TW because they are short and like a low seat height. I dont know how tall you are but I would suggest the XT250 over the TW if you are short, it is a more capable dual sport. If you are 5'10" or taller, I would go for the CRF300L or the KLX300 with the 35" seat height.
Check out big gun exhaust
How are the new tires when leaned over on turns on the hardtop roads? The stock tires work well on hardtop roads and I'm concerned that your new tires which are great for dirt may slip on pavement? Thanks
By going up to 49 tooth, how many additional links are needed? It would greatly help if you could provide links and more info for each mod. For example, the link to the Amazon tail tidy. You're my type of rider so I will follow this channel very closely. Now, all I need is a Honda 300L.
Generally a link on a YT channel is really bad for growth. CZcams considers it bad because you are directing people off the platform. I dont remember how many links, I will have to count since I just just the chain to the correct size.
Hi Andrew, nice mods.. did you forget to put on the link or is it just me not seing it? Just received mine and looking forward to tire. Sprocket. Skid plate and lugage upgrades.
Hey David thanks for the comment. yeah I didnt put it up yet, I will be killing the video if I do though, CZcams hates when you direct people off of the platform.
@@MotorcyclesOffroad really?! But so many youtubers have link to products.. weird. Ok i am just wondering about the rear sprocket brand and chain? Thanks alot
Yeah so youtube tracks how long people keep a viewer engaged and if they click off they hate it. Its a stop view or something like that, bigger channels can get away with it more. But the people who do redirect you usually do it because they are willing to take the analytics hit in exchange for the small kickback money wise.
HI MotocycleOffroad!
Can you tell me what kind/brand of WHEELs mounts the CRF 300L ???? DID or Takasako Excel ( OEM ) Thank you !!!
I was thinking about dropping a tooth or two in the rear sprocket to try to get first gear into play.
On the street, first gear is worthless.
It would be nice to get more use out of first gear and a higher cruising top speed in sixth.
I would suggest adding one tooth to the front and a ecu flash. These 2 things make the bike so much better for road use.
I can’t find one anywhere around 150 miles of the Philadelphia area. I’m calling all over.
Yeah, in my review of the bike that was one thing I mention that kinda sucks. They are no where to be found. Cool that you live in PA im like 45 mins from Philadelphia.
@@MotorcyclesOffroad Me too. I’m close to Lake Nockamixon. I have a 2021 250F but really want a dual sport. Maybe one day we can find a dirt trail in our area.
I went to the Honda site and used their dealer locator. I ended up finding a very small dealer in NY state that only sold Honda’s. It didn’t come up in any other searches I did. They had one in stock. And also a 110 for my daughter! Their showroom was almost completely empty.
Could you share where you got the ball screw in mount for the mirrors please
Hello,, You would happen to have a link for the rim decals
I have a question for you Andrew. The CRF300L sold in Thailand differs from the U.S./Aussie/U.K. model in two ways, the Ground Clearance on the Thai bike is 244mm vs 285mm everywhere else and the Seat Height is 830mm vs 885mm elsewhere. What do you think Honda Thailand did to make these changes? To me I think it’s all about the ground clearance, I wonder if the dropped the frame on the suspension. I would love to buy this bike but I need to be able to increase the ground clearance. Everything else is the same accept the headlight which is the same type as on the 450L
They did it because ppl in thailand are usually smaller (not as tall) as ppl in europe or the us
Hi Please do you have the link for the wheel decals Thanks
Now you just need exhaust, intake, and tune on top of those two mods :)
And you have best bike in class 250CC and down. since engine should be named 250 as it is 286cc not 300CC.
I really hope they put 330CC new engine already in many Honda models, in new crf350L for future. That would be so sweet everyone would buy them, without overthinking it.
And better rear suspension from factory nothing else is needed from factory.
All of that has been done already lol, I think this video is almost a year old. Thanks for the comment.
Those guys at the end.... I’m definitely fine with the soft suspension 😂
Yeah I kinda like the soft susp too. It only bothers me when I do really tough offroad stuff, Then I start to notice how soft it is. On the road tho it is super smooth.
How does the CRF250F rear suspension add up to the 300L?
Andrew, could you put a link to the wheel decals you have, I can’t find those same ones on eBay.
thinking of adding a 45t rear sprocket. and a xring chain. did you have any problems with your chain hitting the case on the counter shaft sprocket? i know they sell a spacer if it did. Thanks great channel.
No problems at all near the coutershaft. The only issue I ran into, and this will probably not be a problem for you at 45t, is I couldn't install the chain guide on the bottom of the sprocket. The sprocket is just too large for it to fit. After I get an exhaust, a new mapping, and intake I will probably go to a 45t. Let me know how it works out for you.
i ended up going with a 13t front sprocket. might do a 42 rear. but the 13t really makes the bike handle better on slower technical stuff. i have a speedo corrector on order to correct my speedometer.
i added a motox exhaust and mega bomb header from biker bitz. added the 91 octane ecu mapping from 550perfornance. this really woke the bike up more. the only airbox mod i did was remove the backfire screen on the air filter. this and the 13t front sprocket, skid plate, hand guards and the tusk dual sport tires really make the bike better for my riding.
When you were talking about bikes not being inspected in your state, I was just curiuos if your in NJ or Pa. I live in south Jersey so I sniffed it right out lol. Where abouts are you from? That is assuming that i'm correct. But good stuff keep it coming. Oh yeah and I 2nd my biggest negative is the availability of these new bikes out there. Cheers.
Hey Ed, Yes I am from New Jersey. PA does have motorcycle inspections. (I only know because I have worked on/sold a ton of bikes and some people came from PA) Im am in the south west part of the state near delaware river/bay area.
I’m in north NJ, but have friends off of rt78. We need to organize a group ride.
I'm in Dutchess County NY and have this bike coming at the end of the week. I need to find places to ride
That could def be cool. I am always looking for new people to ride with.
Dutchess County NY is about 3 and a half hours from me.
I thought the Acerbis hand guards didnt fit with the stock levers? How did you get them to fit?
Tire off or the wheel off?
Do you have a link for these parts, such as mirrors?
I cannot find it.
Sweet upgrades. When is a vortex ecu coming out for this thing?
Haha right, I definitely would love to have a nice fuel mapping. Then I could throw on an awesome exhaust.
@@MotorcyclesOffroad i loathe the current ecu
I actually don't mind the tire offroad. That being said all my offroad experience over the past 10 years has been on dual sport tires, so I am used to feeling the bike slipping around. Also there is something nice about cracking the throttle on a corner and letting back end swing around
Still looking for a link to that sprocket if you could please
Did you have any issues with the 1 1/8 handlebars? As far as the throttlebody
I am running 7/8" handle bars.
Hey man careful with that front brake line I know it's in the way I hate it on mine aswell but cable tieing it like that to the bar can get dangerous as that line travels up and down with the suspension
No you are right I have it in a really good position now. I trained it to go there. It has no restrictions on it at all now but still sits low enough for me to see everything. But yeah you are absolutely correct about that.
Sprocket link?
Where do I get the back sprocket ?
With the larger rear sprocket I noticed you not running the chain guide???
I have a video for that, I am running a chain guard. Kinda like what comes on the Africa twin.
T-dub mentioned @8:52 !
Heck yeah, I have a tdubb.
What the per liter evrage
Best upgrade for this video is to dump that ‘music’. Yer killin me.
Oh yeah its killing ya? Someone is being a drama queen. Its just the intro on a 19 min video, works out to be 3.5% of the whole video. If you cant handle that idk what to tell ya 💁
@@MotorcyclesOffroad it’s just that the reversed note tones on that music is so distracting, and I really wanted to listen to what you have to say. No worries.
Have a great day.
@ultralightpaddling1200 lol, yeah well it's only the intro. In actuality there are very few videos where I have stock music. This was when I first started my channel 2 years ago
What is the stator output? I’d really like to ad some led light pods, without pulling more amps than the stator puts out.
LED's have very low current draw, should not be a problem, all light pods should list their watt or amperage.
Did you drill the bars to accommodate the little pin in the electronics housings?
No, I ground the pin off and wrapped 3 layers of gaffers tape under it. It doesn't move at all.
Wondering when we'll see a big bore kit? I've checked a few times, and haven't seen anything specific to the 300 yet.
Good stuff! Bought one of those Acerbis skid plates but not sure how to get it to fit the 300L. Any insight? Seems like the front bracket just needs longer screws, but that rear bracket seems to be more of an issue. How did you get it to work on the 300L?
Hey man, so the rear bracket fit fine for me. THe front I just drilled new hows a bit higher and I think it was like 3 1/8" apart. Idk I will have to look at the footage.
Hi!
Can you pls tell me what’s the best tires will be for forest for Crf300l ?
I used a michelin AC10, now im trying a Dunlop D606
Hi, nice video.
I am trying to find those mirrors, but cannot find them. Please, do you have a link?
I think I have a link in the description to all the products.
@@MotorcyclesOffroad thank you, I just saw it
How do the upgraded tires handle on road
I've never owned "racing tires" so I wouldn't really know the answer
Do you think the stock suspension is sufficient off road for a 150lb experienced rider?
Yes, I think around 185lbs as long as you adjust the preload. For 150lb rider you would probably need little to no adjustment depending on gear.
With rear sprocket upgrade now your Speedo is off I assume ? Is there a fix to adjust for that ?
Yes, on my video I did about gearing I have the part number of the part that fixes it.
czcams.com/video/7AWIkjdrUb4/video.html
how do you determine how long the chain needs to be if you go to a 48 tooth rear sprocket?
There is calculators online but I just buy the a bigger size, usually 120links and cut it to fit.
It's like they almost force you to have to make upgrades for people to be truly happy. but at the price it's not so bad I guess. and people like doing that. but I'll probably go with the rally because the bigger gas tank and windshield. but I believe that's a cheap upgrade as well for this 300L is a windshield? I know you can for the KLX300. but crappier gas mileage for the regular commuter.
Honestly it makes a pretty solid commuter as it is, idk if you would even want a windscreen. I would say ride it first and see how it goes.
Hows the tire combo on the road compared to stock? What pressure do u run?
The tires are ok on the road, at about 60mph it starts to dance around a little as far as grabbing lines in the road. I run 22-24 when rode riding and I air down to 14 offroad. The rims have holes for rim locks, next I'm going to install some so I can air down a little more.
@@MotorcyclesOffroad thanks, bike looks great! Gotta do some of these mods. I cranked the preload all the way down on the rear shock and find it's pretty decent now. Tires, bars and skid plate going on mine soon.
how can I find a suitable rear sprocket for the honda crf300l, can you share the link to your rear sprocket, also the tires sticker please share both links
Ebay
Any reason you choose those bars over fat bars?
Just personal preference, I just like the 7/8" the 1 1/8" always seem to be trouble, especially when you try to mount things like hand guards.
If you are running just one mirror is supposed to be the LEFT side. Also it’s pronounced
(A-sir-bis) not “a-chair-bees”
Good video, nice bike.
Why do you think it should be on the left? My state says either side so I was curious of your reasoning. Also it is a-cher-bees, that is the proper way to say it.
@@MotorcyclesOffroad I believe it’s the law to have it on the left side (traffic changing lanes) I could be wrong though. Other states may differ.
@@hydroboy35th my state says either side, able to view 200ft behind. For me it doesn't really matter because I'm never on the highway with the bike.
No 1 should be Tamer Throttle Tube to fix the snatchy throttle
I fixed it with a new ECU, either that or I'm just so used to it that it doesn't bother me.
Where to buy that sprocket?
You can get a good variety of sprockets off of ebay. I get my from the mxpowerplay store. Keep in mind some are universal so you may need to get different bolts. The stock bolts are the right size but other bikes like the dirtbikes have a funnel type pitched head, I forget the technical name but its a tapered shaft right after the head. I hope this helps you man. Also I just did a whole video on gearing: czcams.com/video/7AWIkjdrUb4/video.html
So on eBay the wheel decals I found say they won't fit the 300L. but if it says 18/21" wouldn't it fit?
Idk exactly what ones you are looking at but I simply bought a 18"21" set.
@@MotorcyclesOffroad It says they fit the 230 and 250 but when I type in the 300L it says will not fit. I'm guessing it will tho
What's a good 50 50 tire for this bike? I ride off and on road just about equally
CONTINENTAL TKC 80s are a good on and offroad to a point, they are more a 50/50 overall. Another option is If you want good tires offroad that will still last 2000+ miles on road try Dunlop D606 rear and pirelli mt16 front. I have like 1000 miles on my pirelli and they basically still look new.
@@MotorcyclesOffroad thanks man, I appreciate it. I just clocked over 350 miles on her and I'm excited for more. New shoes is a must.
You didn't need to get risers for the new handlebar did you?
I did not need risers, no.
@@MotorcyclesOffroad do you happen to have a link to the bars? I ended up getting the wrong diameter ones haha
