Grade II Listed Windmill - Mountnessing, Essex

  • Built in 1807, replacing an earlier mill recorded as far back as 1477, the mill was working until 1924, and after some remedial work, was working once again around 1932/3
    In 1937, ownership and maintenance of the mill was transferred to Mountnessing Parish Council .
    It has four floors, four spring sails and two pairs of millstones. It is in full working order and occasionally mills flour.
    It is popular with tourists and is open to the public on the third Sunday of each month between 2pm to 5pm April to September. More details on the Mountnessing Windmill Facebook page here:
