Thanks, I travel between Essex & Devon regularly and I must admit it's my preferred route.

It was half of my trip home from visiting family in Exeter, I'm just editing the second half of the journey.

@rods-stuff I enjoy watching these trips especially when I can't get out during chemotherapy. It makes me feel like I am out and about

The Ilminster bypass is a disgrace of a road. For maybe two metres of widening the whole road could have been dual carriageway and saved dozens of lives.

You're not wrong, who knows what was going through the planners minds when they came up with it. It's just stupid to alternate the two lane sections the way they have.

@@rods-stuff The alternating lanes were only introduced in around 2002 as a short term safety improvement. Before that, there was just a single broken white line down the centre of the road and you'd get vehicles from both sides barrelling down the centre line, occasionally with fatal consequences.
