My fave TR song and video. As a fan of 20 years, and their almost 30 year history, you can imagine how many there is to choose from. So this being a fave... it just goes to show how much it means. Lauri always says we don't have to interpret his lyrics the same way as him, and rather we can interpret them to fit us if we so wish. 🙂

my interpretation : Lauri is wearing king clothes (read- romantic era man) on start of song he is saying that he lost love and he is searching for some special for all life(even in early songs TR You can see romantic idea of unfulfilled love to someone special), but later fragment about "..stranger take me home.." is about one night ,but not because he want one night but because after loosing love he don't believe that he can have this romantic love that will be for forever . "...i feel like i know You all my life.." from this and from other songs TR You can see that Lauri always singing about the Lady(The Queen), about idea of a woman that he have - friend, lover, ghost ("ghost of love" lol like in that song). and this "one night" is about special night that.... is like he will do everything to have that night (romeo&julia situation). and Lauri not only in this song is "king" "...im the king of new generation..." , "king" is more like someone unique, special).

I had chills throughout the song, and honestly- I think I almost cried. Absolutely beautiful song, and I love how rocky it got in the center of it. I'm going to have to check out more of his stuff, first time listening, and I was not disappointed. Thank you!! 👏😊👍

OMG! So happy to get more The Rasmus. I was dreading not getting one again. I really enjoy hearing your takes on their songs. So. Thank you!
Personally I really love this song. You know, one thing I really love about The Rasmus is that they do change their music over time. They still have their alternative rock roots of course, you instantly hear when you get the Rasmus sound, but in general I feel you got a more pop-ish sound over time. The people that only know them for In the shadows have no idea about these other songs and how different they can sound. I love both rock and pop so it's a perfect storm for me. Their most "heavy tracks" will be on their earlier albums though. This is from their 8th studio album simply called The Rasmus (2012).
I think Lauri tends to write really contemplative lyrics that can have many different interpretations.
Let me quote a reviewer from an article I read about this song:
"I also love this song lyrically. There’s something very mysterious and profound about the content. It’s like a love song in the future tense. The words seem to be directed at the love of the narrator’s life whom he hasn’t met yet; the “stranger” who he’s felt he’s known all his life and who represents the pieces of the puzzle of his existence that he’s been missing. Or perhaps it’s directed at someone he already knows and he’s telling them that he always knew he’d find them. It’s all very poetic and like all good poetry I guess the meaning is open to interpretation, but I’ve always found it to be a deeply emotional and optimistic song."

They definitely have changed music styles over the years. And I like that each of the 9 albums have a different vibe and soundworld. I haven't seen Lauri opening the meaning of this song anywhere but your interpret was really good 😊
