      I thought similar. I'm glad (for lack of a better term) he's coming clean here, showing a conscience. But how someone that educated, that entrenched in not only the political system, but Republican party, and Trump campaign, claim he was so naive that he was "tricked" is a poor excuse, and frankly not wholly believable. He very likely knew what they were doing was wrong at multiple stages, likely illegal, and lacked a spine to stand up against it.

      I get tired of this because it sounds like the Trump base. Redemption, and opportunity to be humble and honest like this man is doing should be accepted.       I'm not a fan of most Republican policies at all (tho Democrats are also disappointing me strongly on war), but *at least,* when this all came up in the last election transfer of power, I'd give Pence that he: stood his ground when it mattered, said no, and followed legal constitutional protocol.
      Because goodness, if that administrative scheme had worked, it wouldn't have been a matter of who was prez or which party was in control for a few years, but whether the institutions of the country had any legitimacy in the most fundamental way....... and whether it could all be taken away by an administrative coup, at the whim of angry mobs or scheming leaders... and when gone once, it's over.
      I was truly scared at that time, that we were about to have an administrative coup, which could rapidly disintegrate our political systems, rippling into local governance, policing, etc... as people tried to repeat the process...
      Phew.
      Prayers for this country. ...

If Reagan ran today, he would never get elected even though MAGA claims he is the best. I left the party in 2016. I saw through Trump in a heartbeat. I didn't care for him in the 1980's. I will never vote for a Republican again until MAGA is purged. Many seniors have the same view as mine. We lived through the cold war. Our parents fought in WWII. We know fascist rhetoric in a heartbeat. Many seniors are Republicans and that is the group of voters Trump is losing by leaps and bounds. We also vote
