Channing Pollock was a God. Often imitated NEVER duplicated. It is a pleasure to watch him perform. Thanks to CZcams, everyone can admire the magic of this legendary performer.
It almost seems senseless to comment on such a classy and inspiring act. Whenever he performed, he helped elevate the art form with respect and dignity. Now, with all the street magic out there, and MTV style cuts and edits, I sometimes wonder if magic will ever return to this magnitude of simplistic quality again. To me, Lance Burton is pretty much the only one who really pulled this off in recent years. Absolutely wonderful. Thanks for posting this.
Poor old Channing is now gone but his magic still leaves me in awe. What a magician. I can't begin to think how much practice and talent it takes to reach his level. It's a shanme they have to leave us.
The fact that he does the whole act so slowly is just mind-boggling! He's so freaking smooth, it almost makes you sick! Such class!!!! A true master and pioneer!
The teaching of magic and exposure of effects is like a religion for some. There are some old school guys who think that people must pay for everything, even common principles and stuff in the public domain. Or they believe it should only be done behind closed doors I take a different view & believe that magical education and discussion should be freely available for those that request it. I will also point people in the right direction, hopefully to some freely available public domain work.
Tell me about it.... I still haven't seen the comments on some of the clips of my TV series because I know it's not about enjoying the art as performed. But to solve the riddle. Thank you internet.
True, Burton learned a lot off Pollock. Feel free to expose more of this act. I find the execution of the body steals and misdirection well worth studying.
I help student magicians who want to know how magic is done to help their studies and decide which effects they want to pursue further. This is all part of magical education. This is good exposure :)
Apparently you did not read my comment as intended. I knew Channing. Every audience was "bewitched, bothered and bewildered" watching his act. There was and is no one better than Channing. And yes, that's the title of the song.
Teller may not, but unfortunately, he still goes along with it when Penn does... It's a shame, really. Pollock is the the master though. A true pioneer!
See my above comments. The whole act is complex and you won't understand unless you have studied magic for many many years, but I can expose specific moves if you want to make a start.
I would argue that if they take time to read the comments (and most people that comment and read on magic vids espec one like this showing a classic act ie Not Blaine/Angel are magicians or students of magic) then they are interested. I like to help interested people by explaining the effects if they want to know. They may not be brave enough to message me, but will enjoy reading direct without having to ask. I can reach a wider audience than private messaging allows.
Class act. Yes, cage collapses into table and there is collapsible wire frame in the cloth. Doves were secreted about his person in tight bags. Cards were just front and back palm and split fan productions and body steals. Anyone who performs magic will be familiar and may do some move themselves. But I have to say the whole routining was flawless and beautiful in its execution. If anyone wants me to expose the moves further I will. I will expose anything anyone wants.
Well that was the old way... Exposure and/or the cost of obtaining methods is like a religion for some people. Remember when Pat Page published his big book of Magic in 1976? Most of this act is explained there including card manipulation and dove work, Pat was banned from the Magic Circle for a time for publishing that book... his only crime being not the book, but that he didn't charge enough for it. This says to me learning magic is only about money. This is wrong and I redress that balance.
He he is mystifying the audience the point is not prove that you have magicial powers, its to make the audience believe that maybe just maybe it could possibly be by magic the audience knows its not magic but the skill and practice that goes into what he does or did is unbelieveable and if it is so stupid i would like you to explain to me how he does it. Because the whole point of magic is to make the audience believe for one second that maybe just maybe there is something magical happening.

Bravo. One of the finest magicians of all time. All dove magicians and magicians in general owe a bit of gratitude to the late great Channing Pollock.

his slight of hand is soo clean and perfect, amazing
elegant graceful magic at its best.
The fact that he does the whole act so slowly is just mind-boggling! He's so freaking smooth, it almost makes you sick! Such class!!!! A true master and pioneer!
The music is "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered" which pretty well sums up the act. Channing was a great artist and NICE man.
Beautiful, he inspired me as a young man and still does.
Wonderful magic, looks like real magic...
I cannot believe that the most perfect manipulation act of all time is not rated as a straight 5 stars.
It's Great !!
Superb magic.
Amazing!~
a master...perfect skills..As he made doves appear, he seemed to be shaping them from air with his hands. Magicians everywhere copied his moves...
what a master magican
Channing is the real deal!
omygod he is great
So damn good!
Channing Pollock sets the standard for the rest. In fact one can argue that very few if any has yet to reach that standard.

many of the things he did with doves are still in use today

And how many have copied Channing Pollock with Doves?
